ParticipantNeed to see a lot of Tyler Lewis in the second half. Cat is killing us.

ParticipantBill Snyder built the Kansas State program by playing a garbage schedule year after year and impressing recruits with 10 win seasons. It is a valid strategy, especially at a school that has little or no history of national success in football. It probably sucks for season ticket holders, but it is a valid strategy.

ParticipantI am finishing up three days of hosting technical meetings for one of our product lines today. We are headquartered in France and have operations there as well as Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia and India. Almost all of our basic research is done in Europe even though we really do most of the scale up and development work here.
The investment side of things is really interesting. We started an expansion project here, in parallel with the Germans early in 2012. Our project cost was about 30% less than theirs for a very similar scope. Interestingly enough, they get a 30% investment incentive from the German government. Wonder if those two things are connected in some way?
The entire European attitude toward jobs is one that goes to great lengths not to ever lay anyone off or eliminate positions. As long as someone is “adding value” they will keep them around.
The idea that everyone should get a college degree is one of the most damaging notions ever put forward. Most people should probably seek some kind of post high school job training, put a large percentage of those people should be doing something other going to a four year college. The media spends countless hours focusing on the minuscule portion of manufacturing that is poorly behaved and largely ignores all of the improvements in our quality of life that have come from manufacturing innovation. That is one of the key factors in driving manufacturing overseas. We don’t have any allies left in the fight and it will take a generation or more to turn that around.

ParticipantI’ve been tough on Turner all season. This morning he deserves lots of kudos. Maybe he just needs more minutes to get into the rhythm of the game.
I continue to be encouraged by the play of the young big men. This is not a group of young Sudhops or even Watts, these guys are going to be an absolute nightmare for the rest of the league going forward.
Dez “Switchblade” Lee deserves a lot of credit for both his defense last night and his junkyard toughness. His decision to give the ball up to Washington for the jam instead of taking the points himself added a lot of energy to the early part of the second half.
Hopefully Warren will be back soon. I’m not sure we can win too many with the cast we had last night.

ParticipantFirst to 45 wins.

ParticipantErnest Graham lit us up in Reynolds one night for about 35. He hit one shot falling out of bounds as he cramped up.

ParticipantI know the UMd hate runs pretty deep here, but for those of us who watched DT and the Lefthander, the end of this series is just another horrible casualty of rent a conference.
TJ out. We done.

ParticipantI posted during the game Saturday that the only ACC loss to date that hurts us was the Wake game. I think VaWolf’s stats confirm this. Everyone said we were a middle of the pack team at the beginning of the year. I wouldn’t give up on this team yet. If we are going to sneak onto the NCAA Bubble, Cat Barber has to play a whole lot better. His carelessness with the basketball is costing us 12-14 points per game because everyone of his turnovers turns into a snow bird.
I’m also ready to put three shooters on the floor at once, but that may have to wait another year or two.
Texpack
ParticipantThe bigs have developed quite a bit. Barber is just awful. Terrible ball handler, terrible shooter, poor passer. Not sure why we signed him at this point.
Texpack
ParticipantWe have to start recruiting guys who can shoot threes. We are at an incredible disadvantage every night because we can’t shoot threes.
Texpack
ParticipantI wouldn’t give up on the season yet. The only ACC loss that hurts at this point is Wake. Lewis is playing better which will limit the damage by Barber.

ParticipantThe analysis of the officiating actually focuses on the single biggest factor in the first half. Half of our turnovers were “no call aided”.
Texpack
ParticipantTwo Dookies doing the “analysis” at the half.

ParticipantWhat is it about Duke that makes the zebras swallow their whistles? Over the back on entry passes, force outs by the dozen and too many hack to mention

ParticipantThe final 1:35 of UK/UT lasted 14 minutes and the margin didn’t change. Then CBS played 37 commercials before starting our game.

ParticipantBarber’s man ran free because he made his second terrible decision of the game to go for a steal instead of staying in front of his man and making Wake use some clock to get the ball up the court. He got bailed out on the first one by a dropped pass that would have been a sure slam dunk. I figured Lewis must be sick. That really hurt us last night. Cat Barber is pretty quickly turning into CJ Leslie. I’m starting to have trouble figuring out what he does well.
Hopefully regional coverage will preclude me from having access to the decapitation in Duuurm on Saturday.

ParticipantLewis must be blowing chunks in the locker room.

ParticipantWith the foul situation as it is we are in deep doo doo.
Texpack
ParticipantThe UCLA high post offense against the zone needs a skilled post player at the foul line. Painter with the jumper or Calvin putting it on the deck both drew the baseline defenders away from the basket and created cutting lanes. Freeman and Washington have to become that guy.
