What is the ‘deep state’ in terms of US politics?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0FnZsVZHxc

Mentioned here briefly. I would say the nonelected powers or shadow government. Spies, Pentagon, people like Soros, etc…

I haven’t worn a suit ever except to interviews, weddings, and funerals. Not to church. It’s not like you can have just one. You’d need at least 6 if you are a regular IMO. I don’t wear short, but whatever. It’s what’s inside that counts.

I’d guess Trump makes it 8 years. Trump is hopefully going to dismantle the deep state. I’m praying regularly for him. There’s a civil war going on right now inside the CIA and NSA. Just got to hope the white hats win.

Indiana is now our only competition for Arch, and I don’t suspect he’s first on they list.

WELCOME HOME, Miller family. You won’t regret it.

You are all wrong. Western civilization has been massively let down by the medical community for refusing to diagnose obvious mental illness. Now we are all down the rabbit hole because of it.

I’m glad you guys are staying positive. Good to see. I’ll pull back from the ledge a bit and hone my mantras fervently for the best possible outcome. 🙂

StateRed: I’m in agreement. I’m hoping it is 1A or 1B, that we have a legit 2 line. I can live with the current 3 line candidates (Wade/Keatts), and think they’re better than what we’ve done the last two hires. While the 3 line comes with risk and won’t win the press conference in the same way, they likely will be better than Lowe and Gott.

I’m just hoping there isn’t an out of left field, 4 line candidate. That’s been our last two hires and we’ve seen what that gets us.

The one thing that worries once we make it past Miller and Marshall (good Lord forbid) is the cryptic report from Goodman with the old nonsourced quote from a “midmajor” of “I wouldn’t touch that job”. It’s most likely real but is it one of the guys we’d be targeting for the 2nd line? I pray not, because if we get played by a guy with those or similar sentiments it could begin to really stink. Also could it really be indicative of how this place is perceived across the board? Mind numbing and potentially lethal.

On the good karma side. I really hope the women’s team can get some national good juju working for us this March. They could shine a light in the darkness (however dim) on the positive aspects of NC State and Yow.

I hope Wes Moore could help out as some sort of vouch.

Hey guys, PLEASE cut it out. We needs to be excellent to each other (as Bill and Ted taught us). Good Karma = Arch. Bad Karma = 3rd consecutive turd.

Lol, good point. Reason enough for me. Or 4th consecutive turd, depending on THAT argument. Outside of 1a or 1b, I think most would be happy with even one of the previously mentioned and well thought of 2nd tier guys. I’m just praying it’s not a left field retread turd.

Roo, feel free to quip on politics. If so and so doesn’t like it, he doesn’t have to read it.

No way I want a pencil headed chancellor making the final call on the basketball coach. We’d wind up with a retread for sure. You want to gauge choices 1a or b, then go hard for choice #2 after the secret vetting is done. Some athletic dept. committee in cahoots with Woodson would be a complete crap storm.

well, its about time our program caught a fuggin break if for nothing else than luck of the draw. I’m optimistic we get a good coach, be it whoever….

If it aint Arch, I’m hoping he doesn’t feign interest to pump up his value, surely he’d give us the gentleman’s good luck wishes

I find it hard to believe he’s not interested considering we know both he and Sean were interested at one time. Oh well, all we can do is ask. I’m still confident we’ll get one of “A” or “B” guys and frankly that will be better than we’ve had in a long time. Please no retreads.

Yahoo sports tends to be truth tellers from what I can remember. I hope this eventually puts pressure on the 4 letter network to play it straight and quit the favoritism.

That was a good article, positive sounding for us. Good to see someone who knows basketball speak up. I wonder which university he was referring to with regards to passing on Archie? Any ideas?

No way is Arch getting the Duke or UNC job ever. Duke and UNC have way to much ego to ever ever hire an NC State alum. Duke has a laundry list of K disciples and they will hire one of those. UNC may not hire one of there own but they wouldn’t ever hire Archie. They have way too much ego for that and I’d guess Roy would want one of his own in there like K will. Maybe 20 years down the road Archie gets a call from unc or duke but it won’t happen while K and Roy are alive.

This is my feeling. In other words if he wants to coach on tobacco road, it’s here and now or nowhere.

I don’t think it’s fair to us to expect to go all the way to a contract with the absolute first guy we speak to. If a guy is so turned off that he can’t stomach us contacting Archie first to see if he is interested or not then maybe it won’t work. But I think you have to gauge interest before you can be expected to give someone an offer. I understand there has to be cloak and dagger to save face, but they gotta appeal to us too pal 🙂

We can take ONE shot at an A-list candidate. ONE.

You have to weigh the quality of the candidate, along with the probability of “Getting to Yes.”

Even if one thinks Marshall is a better coach (I disagree), I think it is clearly outweighed by the significantly lower probability that he says yes. He’s a tough guy to read. You WILL have to offer more than $4M/year. I think it takes $5M minimum to get him to talk to you. Not sure we can get there. And it WILL be matched by the Kochs. I put the odds of landing him, AT BEST, around 20%.

Arch, on the other hand, will listen at $3.5-4M. And you can be certain that Dayton can’t match. It’s simply a matter of whether he chooses somewhere else. I would put the odds at around 70%, and it’s only that low because of the NC State/Charlie Brown factor. I could easily see us f-cking it up. AGAIN.

And you can’t take both shots. It will get out. Neither one of these guys will accept being sloppy seconds.

Somewhat agree we can’t give but one a contract, but we can interview both, give them a salary range, and see who seems the most “interested”. Then give that onethe contract and see if they sign it. Then move on to tier B if the deal won’t close.

Well everybody is poor mouthing us but it shouldn’t hurt with Archie or Marshall. Archie knows what the deal is here if anyone does and Marshall mostly knows and probably isn’t scared anyway. If it’s not either of them it might as well be a Keats or Will Wade type guy so whatever. Ask those 2 then bring in who its gonna be. Tell all the media to eat a bag of …….!

Does it matter? She had to do it and she’s not gonna quit just because she needs to hire another coach. Lets pray she can get past all the negativity and just find the right guy.

Yes, to hell with all of them. I had to tell a decent couple of high school friends on Facebook today to basically get bent. There is always some sliver truth to perceptions, but another truth is they really want us to know our place. Yes, to hell with them all!!!!
