Screw it. Lets throw the kitchen sink at Chip Kelly. Back up the Brinks truck. Until we do something balls out like that we will get absolutely no effing where. I refuse to be depressed by a weak sister program.

Wanted to add I’m okay with DD getting 5 year I guess, but if you are going to give him that, by year 6 he needs to be in the conf champ conversation and or ranked at a bare minimum. What else would he be here for? Plenty of guys can win 3 peer group games a year.

I think Gott has done okay with guards and wings. I am disappointed with the 4 and 5 spot. For goodness sakes, if we are gonna be guard oriented, bring in 4 more guys like Lennard. We need rebounders and hard workers, NO reason to be thin on bodies in the post. That’s why I’m lamenting K Wash. Understand we were hoodwinked by BO, but there needed to be some top 100 guys ready to go with anyway – or at the very least Freeman level talent. Guess it’s not done so I will wait and see there.

Agree BJD about the holes and our admin. Very frustrating. Somehow something is WAY WRONG on that level when we essentially have the WORST record for revenue sports in the entire country during the last 25 years (by conf champ measurement). That’s unacceptable and frankly I’m done cheering for that crap. THIS is why it needs to be a business. The product has been pure crap for a generation.

Don’t understand the sentimentality of fans that seem to get wrapped up in coaches personas etc. These folks are employees making bank off your fandom and school. At the end of the day it should be run like a business, not a family. I would not hesitate to fire a guy after 3 years who was woefully inept. DD needs to get us in the conversation, which we are far from. Isn’t that what he is supposed to be doing? It is extremely galling that Fedora has outdone him with those sanctions hanging overhead. I like him ok, but I’m not tied to him in the very least. We need to quit having losing conference records, period! Not measuring up so far.

As far as Gott goes, disappointed with the big man development and recruiting so far. I wish I knew why Washington transferred. Seems to have been a preventable situation from the outside looking in, don’t know. Do know we miss him severely. Can’t blame Gott for Lacey, it’s just too bad they both left what could have been a really nice season. If he does implode like Alabama I aint’ gonna get all sentimental about 2 sweet 16’s yada yada, who cares? You get a banner hung, then we can start getting sentimental. Until then, you are an employee that hasn’t shown me much.

Abu is nowhere near where he needs to be for us to be an NCAA team. Since he has been depended on for offense this year with transfers and personnel losses his shortcomings are magnified. Settling into the realization that Abu is Damon Thornton/Kenny Inge level talent on his BEST day imo. Was hoping and thinking he was gonna be much more than that. Prove me wrong big guy (Abu).

Agree on Abu, he’s not that good. Unfortunately our best post player should really be getting mop up duty to 10 mins a game on a team that is a contender. Not sure why Anya seems unable to apply himself. 30% free throws is completely unacceptable for a serious scholarship player. If Cat could either pass or shoot he’d be much better. His best offense is begging the call which will never work against really good teams. Surprised how well he shot from 15 ft last night. Those points don’t really help tho because he can’t keep it up and everyone stands around to watch him dribble the remainder of the game.

Little rose colored analysis here. That game was horrid to watch. Cat cannot pass, is a drive first point guard and couldn’t make a 3 pointer if his life depended on it. Our best player outside of his one dimensional game is twin A, who is too streaky to be dependable. Rowan needs to drive more and more and more. That’s the good news. The inside is an abomination. Abu seems worse than his first game. Other 2 show no improvement. 30% free throws should lose you a scholarship. That makes Shaquille Oneal seem like Terry Gannon. I watch UNC with crisp passes. MOVMENT. Alley Oop dunks off set plays. We can field a team of 4 and 5 star recruits and routinely are getting run off our home court by below average teams. Disgusted.

^excellent post. Not to mention our biggest competitor is able to keep NBA starters happy for 3 and 4 years by providing goodies, incentives, and degrees while we lose guys who “go pro” which routinely are late 2nd round or aren’t even drafted. Mind you that has been going on ~25 years.

Big picture here, he’s done a great job thus far. He coaxed a sweet 16 out of CJ Leslie as a soph, good lord! The run we went on to end THIS season was Valvano-esque. I want a HOF championship coach too but there are about 5 of those alive and still coaching and none will come here. The rest are a crap shoot. MG on data alone shoots down any opinion against him. Personality wise he is a fit too.

We can get a better coach because we have had better coaches. Not sure if we ever will. But, there is no reason to expect at this point that we won’t ever have a better season with Gott than what we have seen to this point either. It can fall both ways. What is clear though is that we DO NOT have a birthright to expect to be good (top 20) year in and out, nor do we have coaches clamoring for this spot at this time. Another thing to consider is Gott has kept it clean so far. If that is a priority for you, can’t say the same for Roy, Dean, V, Sloan, Case.

Don’t follow you Rick, address what? Season was beyond expectations, what else should be said? Gott’s tenure has so far been what was hoped for, no?

Stan, that pic is perfect. Enjoy the ball games. No records are kept for the offseason.

Can’t believe I am still reading complaints about how the season ended. The season was above and beyond all expectations and there are still complainers.

Different topic. Why didn’t KW just redshirt here. Likely 2 of the 3 in front of him for playing time would be gone. He would be a starter again given the green light. Makes no sense to leave for purely playing time purposes.

Damn BJD, that post makes me feel better. You right. Rick, I don’t know he assumed no one would leave. They did evaluate and recruit this year, just at a high level. Eric Davis was a miss tho.

Uggh. Hate what college ball has become. One reason I was pulling for Wisconsin. We should seriously over sign each year and cut those at the end of the year deemed insufficient. Rinse, repeat. You recruit 2 top 75, 2 top 150 guys per years and 2 of them will be likely contributors. One every 3 years will be a star. Run off the runt. Gives you 12 guys of 4 year players.

Bilas is almost unbearable to me at this point. He has become a shrill for the whole athlete’s rights movement which should come with nuanced commentary and he gives none. He also calls each possesion during a game like he’s commenting on war zone atrocities. Where’s the fun? Why so serious Jaybill? Don’t like his tone. Its okay to be excited and I like that, but he sounds so dang ominous during some perceived (by him) key point in the game. Where have you gone Gus Johnson?????

Getting ahead of myself here but I’ll tell you what else. If I was Duke, would not want to see the Pack after that 40 point beat down in the ACC tourney. That will not happen again this year, worst of that match up is out of the way. God willing, if we see them again they would not get through without a helluva dog fight. They would likely get both barrels.

If we can successfully shoot our wad, we gonna win. Who cares if we come out flaccid vs. Okl/MSU? I want an elite 8 now! Worry about Sunday on Sunday. Now is the time for Ralston to make some effing shots. If he can see the ball go through the net, lane will open up. Feed post first few possesions. I’m ready.

As far as Gott goes, I’m happy considering this last stretch. We win in Chapel Hill about once every 10 years. Last win over there against one of their legit teams was Les Robinson with Tom Gugliotta. The losses that bothered me the most this year were Clemson at home and Wofford at home. If you consider a small “what if” Warren would have acted like a Chapel Hill product and overstayed, boy we would probably be in the top 10 right now. That’s the type of teams I think Gott can give us. Maybe next year, huh? Now if we crap the bed next year and again lose 10+ without mitigating circumstances, I’ll revisit.

Boy it would be awesome to slip down to an 11 seed based on scheduling or other snafu and get into Maryland’s bracket. I see them as a weak 3 seed and one we would not be in “awe” of. I want no part of Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona. Praying for Gonzaga or Maryland for possible round of 32 opponent. Very unsure of Villanova, haven’t seen them play in years.

No reason for him to transfer. Peanut gallery was saying Freeman and Anya were transferring earlier in the year. Stupid to speculate over crap like this. Guy needs to work on his game. Plenty of playing time available. He’s got good moves, needs to get stronger. That’s it. Stop with the negativity.
