He puts on a brave face, has he been tipped off? This probably means there will be wet noodle wrist slaps and he can still cry foul in the media.

Is there solace in the fact that UVA plays very boring basketball?

Well, thank goodness there are some honest media types out there, or at least some willing to dig a little and not take UNC/Roy at their word. Need more of that in our society in general.

Where are the splash guys gonna come from? Not a lot of great candidates IMO.

Media would cry foul over us firing Gott. I don’t care what media thinks but perception is a tricky thing. Combine that with DY’s last search and I’d rather be stuck in a 1 year or 2 year problem than with a potential 5 year problem on our hands.

To put it another way, 5 years and really no diamonds in the rough to speak of. Freeman maybe but he’s really a marginal sub, wouldn’t see time on a legit power team. How is that possible? We live in North Carolina. Teams like Cincinatti and Xavier get our scrubs from the state.

I’m not saying only recruit the 150+ guys but if you get 4 on your team at one time every couple of years should get a major contribution from a late bloomer. That’s guys right now we are even refusing to carry on our roster for some unknown reason. Clemson pretty much ONLY recruits those guys and they have a star guy on their team every year. Take that guy off their team every other year and give him to us and it could be a difference in a few wins and losses – tourney vs. no tourney.

That’s fine let them go where they can play, but how do teams like FSU, Miami, Clemson, all seem to have guys they can develop into role players with deep benches. Why do we always get the fringe guys who think they are stars. We need to sign about 4 more Lennard Freeman types. Go after the 150 ranked guys. WTF do we have to lose, put them at 10-13 on the schollie chart. AT BARE minimum sign a dang 150+ guy per year!

I think he’s a good coach, as good as we’ve had since Valvano, but it appears he’s got some deficits. Not only has there been multiple transfers, but multiple players talking bad after said transfers. I used to chalk it up to sour grapes but the reality is that lots of players coming through our program are not buying in to the team concept. I do think some of it is a generation gap with todays players. Some has got to be on the coach though. He just has to win to settle it. It’s his job. I hope Debbie is out the door if Gott needs to be gone so we can hire up to our full potential if she is a problem in that regard.

JJ HIckson started for a good while and was very good in college. Not comparable to Abu IMO. I’ll agree that I have been shocked about some guys in and out of the league as far as who sticks and who doesn’t. There seem guys on almost every ACC team or sweet 16 team like Abu, I just don’t see it.

CJ Leslie wasn’t even drafted. That’s my point. Abu aint gonna sniff the league no matter what he “declares”

Years past I didn’t think coaches had to be shrinks. Maybe he’s telling multiple guys same crap or different crap or whatever. Doesn’t matter, he’s responsible to win no matter what the problem or solution is. It comes down to numbers and right now, he’s probably got at least next year. Just ride it out I guess.

If there are 2 NBA ballers on this squad I’ll eat my hat. Abu is nowhere close to NBA material. Not shot, no handle, short, no chance.

Abu ain’t going to no NBA, get real. He is short and has zero shot or handle

Archie won’t be at Dayton until 2023. No way he doesn’t have an out.

These guys weren’t ACC stars on a legit tourney team so whatever losers is what I say. They are replaceable and were likely already replaced. The problem is we have no depth any year. Fill up the dang roster, good grief. It’s like we are under sanctions with his roster management. We might as well start cheating if he is going to operate like we are under scholarship restriction as a normal procedure.

Are other ACC schools (outside of Duke and UNC who are places that wouldn’t likely see this pattern) seeing as much attrition as us without coaching changes? If we are going to see this type of turnover despite tremendous playing time, I don’t see why we don’t fill up the roster with scholarships and let the chips fall where they may. I’d rather have the option of backfilling from the bench than the continual spring scramble. He’s got to be thinking of changing his strategy, doesn’t he?

Agree with above, yawn. Watched about 4 games. Not entertaining, so I turn off. Unfortunately my remedy would be speed up our cycle a bit instead of giving the clowns 5-10 years to get going lets go with 2-3 years. That way in ten years instead of trying out 1-2 coaches we get 3-4. Eventually, we would have to find a guy that could lead us to a title since it’s been about everybody in the dang country that has had a major sports conf. title since we have.

From all appearances DSJ is the only freshman we will get. Rumors are we will be trolling the post grads for some more help.

If that’s the case, I find that unacceptable. Last year all we heard was this was the big recruiting year. I can look past bringing in 1 bench warmer for 1 year if you are stacked. But to only bring in a probable 1 and done the very next year is lunacy. If you are going to have a transfer heavy program, you should at least run your own ‘waiver wire” on the back end to enable talent development.
