StateRed44Participant
They don’t want the extra bennies KU,UNC, and Kentucky give? How naive.
StateRed44ParticipantAgree with Rye 100%. Lets keep it about the record. I know we all liked to get attached to the players because it was fun cheering for “your guys” with little nicknames etc. Times have changed and it’s all about cheering for the jersey now. These guys just don’t give a rip and now I don’t either. I have no allegiance to the coaches either for that matter. It’s all about the record for everybody involved as far as I’m concerned.
StateRed44ParticipantYou people that like to poormouth Gott never give any specifics, I can only assume it is because you have none. If everything is so terrible, how is Gott able to hire great assistants to come and work? Abu is gonna do what he’s gonna do. There is no straw breaking the camels back so to speak in terms of players coming and going. It is only and always only about W’s and L’s (unless we have a dead girl or a live boy). Figure that part out please. Right now he has enough W’s. Get over it.
StateRed44ParticipantOk, so what’s the rumor? What did he actually do to tick off the players, or is it just generally being a jerk and yelling too much or what? Enough hand wringing, if the ship is really going down what did he do? Gotta be something
StateRed44ParticipantThe more cord cutters, the more cable rates will go up…leading to more cord cutting. Hopefully they will decide or be forced to pay the players which will also lead to fan disinterest. Hopefully eventually the NCAA will go the way of the dodo bird and we can have equitable application of true standards or else no standards at all.
As for me, NFl and NBA will have to do whenever they are on the rabbit ears or internet. I’ve completely lost interest supporting losing State squads. I will check back in for final ACC tourney games, sweet 16 games, or regular season games when we are ranked in the top 10. All else does not amount to a hill of beans because the entertainment value is gone.
StateRed44ParticipantIf they skate with respect to their revenue sports this is extremely corrupt and rotten. I’d like to see the justification of this if true. Is there some loophole, is it really pure corruption, are the holes too smart for everybody. Boggles the mind.
StateRed44ParticipantWouldn’t LOIC and failure to monitor AA studies cover the mens football and basketball programs considering they were enrolled in these classes, received credit, and had eligibility because of these classes?
StateRed44ParticipantArticle says he played at Dematha for Morgan Wooten. Good recruiter. Early-mid 40’s. Seems good move on the surface. People seem interested to work with Gott, so can’t be as bad as some folks on here make it sound.
StateRed44Participant@Yogi. I believe they will drag their feet on all FOI request until the point of self-imposing.
Ineligible players by the dozens would indicate vacated championships across multiple sports…and yes, that includes MBB. How many is the question at this point.
Doubters just don’t understand just how critical this is, nor how many BIG eyes are on it, including the United States government. Antitrust, baby.
There may be a few big eyes on it but there are big brooms and big rugs eyeballing it too. I wouldn’t normally count on the government holding them accountable due to their liberal get out of jail free card, except for the only catch is the fact that a preferred grievance group is involved and theoretically being wronged. That may be their undoing.
StateRed44ParticipantI don’t care about scholarships, post season bans, or Roy. I want banners coming down. I want ACC and NCAA championships revoked. Nothing else hurts them except the sting of losing their precious. They can easily weather any other punishment. Losing the laundry would be a total B-slap to their arrogant face.
StateRed44ParticipantBubble economy. Once enough cord cutters revolt this might go pop.
StateRed44ParticipantSaving face for and getting meaningful work out of Lutz for a time would not reflect negatively on NC State in the eyes of prospective coaches IMO. I would assume the avg 16-17 year old prospect would evaluate the eventual assistant hired and their relationship built. Who else matters? The “fannies” in the seats certainly do not.
StateRed44ParticipantNo, I think firing him would have looked bad. Refresh was needed. He’s looking around, has been for years. Keep him working for us until he finds his spot. Move forward with our own needs. Win-win.
The whole thing has the appearance, rightly or wrongly, of the keystone cops.
He’s leaving. No he’s not. He’s being demoted so we can bring in coach X. Coach X says he is not coming. Limbo…..Agreed that shaking things us is a must. I would say it is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic but he brought in a very highly thought of assistant. If he can bring in another that lends some “turning things around” feel to the program.
I think he has a typical Gott year next year followed by another dumpster fire the following.I guess I’m just not that sensitive to that sort of thing. Also being in the business world in a position to hire professionals, this back in and out kind of thing goes on everywhere in any profession. A perfect world would have things hush-hush I guess but that’s almost the exception with the media explosion. Big picture, nobody is paying that close attention to who NC State hires as an assistant in the offseason except us.
StateRed44ParticipantMemphis plays better basketball
StateRed44ParticipantIsnt that essentially what we did?

StateRed44ParticipantJust back up the truck for Dino. I think he could be a heck of a recruiter if he is inclined to do that sort of thing.
StateRed44ParticipantLOL, little too much pearl clutching for a dang assistant coach. It’s not that big a deal. Big picture is getting someone who will recruit. If Lutz won’t do it he had to go.
StateRed44ParticipantThe twitterverse is starting to lean towards Dooley staying put.
I know what twitter is, but does this mean pundits, fans, or “sources”?
Let’s hire Geno Auriemma for that open spot.
Probably would not be the best recruiter, just a hunch. I’d rather hire him for Lutz’s spot.
StateRed44ParticipantAgree with Ryebread 100%, good post. Not sure Yow could get us in a better position than we are in already with a new coaching search. Although sometimes blind luck can work out there too. I’d be tickled if we were lucky enough to somehow get Archie a shot at this thing though.
StateRed44ParticipantWell, if Dooley leaves a HC gig at a place he made the tourney, it would seem that there is gonna be more than just next year, pretty much no matter what. No way a guy comes to do a 1 year stint knowing the current roster situation. In fact, since he’s seriously considering it, I’d say Gott has bare minimum 2 years (according to Yow and probably higher up).
StateRed44ParticipantNot a huge splash at this point. Tech can obviously be a winner with the right guy. Time will tell but seems like a bail out move for Pastner.
StateRed44ParticipantI, for one, welcome our new quiverfull overlord.
Catholic
StateRed44ParticipantI bet he will be doing something in football competitively. Not gonna quench that drive on the couch. I could see him here or in the NFL coaching.
StateRed44ParticipantAlls I know is we beat that nova ass last year boys yeehaa.
Best. ending. ever.
