StateFansKeymasterIt depends on the year. It’s not in the best long-term interest of the program to go out and get spanked against Ohio State (like VPI did) while playing 24 freshmen. Particularly if the scheduling of such game could potentially have an impact on a wind total that makes the difference between a bowl.
It’s in the best long-term interest of the program to win enough games to qualify for a bowl and be able to get an extra month of practice for a team that only has a couple of dozen upperclassman.

StateFansKeymasterConfirmed —
Something popped up but @ElijahPrime tells Pack Pride that he will be at NC State next weekend.

StateFansKeymasterFWIW — I’ve heard that Conliffe is NOT going to be in town this week, but will be back in Raleigh this month.
StateFansKeymasterActually, just saw this come across my Twitter.
Crosby camped at NC State back in June and Conliffe has already visited Raleigh twice this summer. Last week, Conliffe said that NC State was recruiting him harder than anyone other school.
Crosby (Virginia Beach, Virginia) holds offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida St., Maryland, Miami, Mississippi, UNC, NC State, Ohio St., Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and others. He also camped at UNC and Ohio State this summer, and unofficial visited Virginia Tech, Florida St., and Tennessee.
Conliffe holds offers from NC State, Georgia, UNC, Virginia, Wake Forest, and East Carolina.
StateFansKeymasterHeard some interesting insight this week regarding some of these ‘additional violations’. And, some it absolutely has to do with violations with the basketball program over the last couple of years. Not nearly as ‘institutionalized cheating and fraud’ like they’ve done for 30 years; more along the lines of recruiting violations that are classic Carolina Way where they just don’t think the rules apply to them.
StateFansKeymasterI really can’t believe that it was TWENTY-FIVE YEARS!!! Good Lord!
StateFansKeymasterDid that announcer say that Wisconsin-Alabama is going to be “epic”?
Good God. Who writes this copy?
StateFansKeymasterowes her career to the PC police
…and The Riddick & Reynolds podcast.
StateFansKeymasterHow can you avoid her on Twitter?
She has 94 THOUSAND tweets and counting! (And, she has had MULTIPLE other accounts through the years). Ben Swaim has 133 THOUSAND tweets. I quit following this guy named Michael Felder years ago because I didn’t care what he was watching on TV. He now has 391 THOUSAND TWEETS!!
It genuine blows me away how much some of these people ‘tweet’. From bed. From breakfast. From walking down the street. From church. From work (if you believe they actually have a job that is something different from Tweeting). From the toilet. From the stoplight. From the hospital. From Starbucks. From the funeral home.
It’s a sickness.
StateFansKeymasterKid is a center and has one year of eligibility remaining after he would have to sit out next season. So, he doesn’t help our depth problem this season. Would help our scholarship spacing and our potential experience & depth issue in the post if Abu blows up this season and turns pro.
StateFansKeymasterGreat stuff…thanks for the link!
06/08/2015 at 7:15 AM in reply to: Dorn to State; Gottfried continues winning the transfer game #87239StateFansKeymasterAND…the other nice thing about transfers is that they don’t usually transfer again!! So, they are not a transfer risk! And, with that, they lose some leverage (and therefore cockiness) and often are better cultural fits for programs because their ass is now over a barrell!
05/26/2015 at 6:41 AM in reply to: ANOTHER chance for Avent, NC State Athletics to end 23 year championship drought #86578StateFansKeymasterOk…Writing about the drought in major sports makes more sense to post just before the gymnastics season gets under way. Got it! Thanks for that advice!
If we would have WON on Sunday then the topic of the major sports drought being over would have been a major story…and we would have been leading it. I even heard the announcers on 99.9 talking about it. Had we NOT highlighted the topic then we would have actually looked pretty stupid. I can’t change the friggin facts. We can only discuss them.
I think you guys are more frustrated that we lost (Avent now 0 for 5 in Championship games) than anything….so, you’ve got to be mad at somebody.
05/25/2015 at 7:44 AM in reply to: ANOTHER chance for Avent, NC State Athletics to end 23 year championship drought #86550StateFansKeymasterHow th *#@*# can you guys not have the ability to separate the distinctly different topics of “this year in baseball” with the overall topic of NC State Athletics?
This has been a nice team to watch play well when things hadn’t gone so great early. Cool! Yaaay!!
But, being 44 years old and not having won an ACC Championship in one of the top sports for 23 years feels like a pretty damn big topic to me.
StateFansKeymasterI think this is great on a lot of levels. Always thought that Julius was primed to play a role on our staff in the future; so, I think it is very good for him to go get experience in a different environment and expand/build a more diverse rolodex and network to bring back to NC State one day.
StateFansKeymasterState’s Friday opponent:

StateFansKeymasterDoeren’s former relationships in the midwest clearly paying dividends.
05/07/2015 at 3:04 PM in reply to: Tom O’Brien recruiting on display as Pack shut out of NFL draft #86165StateFansKeymasterwe didn’t have as many chances for a player to get drafted because there was no energy around recruiting in the previous years and we had so many misses with players that were risks and weren’t talented or fits to begin with.
Same point about TOB’s recruiting just magnified.
StateFansKeymasterSheesh, Ed. You can’t find something better to talk about than a relatively benign headline?
So, since the headline isn’t correct, I can only assume that your position is that losing Ingram and now dealing with this situation with Kirk IS STELLAR?
If not, then all you are looking to do is nitpick and argue about nothing.
04/28/2015 at 12:54 PM in reply to: The last 24 hours haven’t been stellar for Mark Gottfried #85801StateFansKeymasterOther than “The Greek”, Georgios Papagiannis, I don’t think the coaches want to take anyone else in 2015. If we don’t get Kirk, they may have to alter that plan. The Greek is still considering St. Johns, Oregon and some others.
04/28/2015 at 12:41 PM in reply to: The last 24 hours haven’t been stellar for Mark Gottfried #85798StateFansKeymasterThe nature of transfers in college basketball means that all of those scholarship spacing issues (that I have been preaching about for years) can be rectified very quickly.
But, we need to go land some of those transfers and get some bodies into the program.
StateFansKeymasterSo…nobody disputes that Russell Wilson had NOT committed to play football until the summer before the 2011 season?
Tau — you ask “what changed” after we let him play baseball the previous three seasons?
I think the answer is pretty clear — what changed was Wilson’s commitment to come back to the football program and play quarterback the following fall. He was on campus at State (not getting paid) his first three years and he was committed to come back. In the spring of 2011 he was off campus making money in minor league ball AND had NOT COMMITTED TO COME BACK TO SCHOOL.
Again….someone correct me if that fact is not true. But, the guy had not committed to even play football in 2011. How do you effectively kick Glennon off the team for the next TWO years for a guy that isn’t even committed to play?
