tvopack, are you annoyed because you are strangely attracted to wufpup’s nickelodeon/disney starlet avatar? Or are you annoyed by the reference to the *NC Friday debacle? I personally think it’s funny.

I wouldn’t worry too much about J*ff G**dman, since he’s pretty good at being a troll/a$$#at. He’ll eventually change focus and try getting other fanbases riled up.

The advertisement just before the first video was hilarious. It was a Denny’s commercial for building your own Grand Slam special!

Ummmmmm, we better beat Duke if we want to go to the NCAAT.

Seriously, eyes on the prize, guys. I’m sure our coach Gott is telling our boys that we are here to win the tournament.

If all we care about is getting into the ncaa tourney, then all we have to do to guarantee it is to win the ACC tourney. “Just win, baby.” Then we can claim bragging rights as the rightful champs with an automatic bid to the big dance.

I don’t care about bubbles or dancing. I want us to win the ACC Tournament. As has been said, “Why not us?”

En route to Denny’s.

I’m lovin’ the Denny’s reference. Swoff will have to remind his showgirls who’s the boss.

00:04 left in the game. Pitt up 5. The Refs stop play to review and huddle around the monitor, for something like 3 or 4 minutes. What were they discussing? The game was over. I know they were trying to find SOMETHING to go in Carolina’s favor… but no dice. What a joke.

I was thinking similar thoughts. King Karl and his zebra showgirls were desperately trying to extend the game to give the holes more time for their full court press to crush the panthers. But alas, Karl had no more rules left to bend for the holes. In spite of panthers sucking hard while trying to break the holes’ press and Karl blowing hard (…on his whistle), the holes could not come through, in the end. LOL.

While were explaining nicknames, I have managed to understand who they belong too and I know why on most of them, but what does WBS stand for.? Is it the same pattern as BSW? If so, who was BS referenced by WBS? I missed that one.

BSW = Black Scott Wood (Ralston Turner)
WBS = Wee Baby Seamus (Tyler Lewis)
KH = King Hippo (Beejay Anya)
etc.

I just got hold of a pair of tickets for tonight’s game from a Duke friend who didn’t plan to attend until tomorrow. Anybody got any tailgating recommendations? I was considering driving up from RTP area and parking at the Sheraton to take the shuttle. Is that the recommended way to get to the game? Or does anyone have any better suggestions? This’ll be my first time at the tourney.

I hope they don’t call this game off. I want to see the game shown on TV with lots of empty seats. I fully expect the Dukies to totally demolish the holes.

this global warming sure is cold

^what we read and hear about global warming…
is a lot like the “information” that flows freely from the Hole…
90% political spin based on 10% facts…

I am sure cooler heads will eventually prevail.
However, I must reiterate…
Local weather events cannot be attributed to (or used as arguments against) larger/global climate trends.

In the meantime, I plan to enjoy our chilly and snowy weather as long as the power doesn’t go out.

Stay safe everybody.

That’s liberal propaganda promoted by ecoterrorists.

I’m no ecoterrorist. I like driving my gasoline sucking SUV and surfing the internet on coal fired electrons. However, if we want to understand and manage climate risks, it’s more practically relevant to understand the likelihood of the hazard than to ask whether any particular disaster was caused by global warming. This is taken from comments made by Noah Diffenbach, a professor of Environmental Earth System Science at Stanford. He along with other colleagues modeled climate systems that quantified the risks of damaging weather as a result of a rise in global average temperatures. This research does not point to specific storms or even potential patterns of weather events, rather it measures the statistical probability of economically damaging weather events over time as global temperatures rise. Based on this kind of science, I am inclined to believe that we can expect more intense storms (hurricanes, tornadoes) or weather consequences such as drought or floods that impact our national economy. These are not predictions of specific snowstorms like this one we’ve been chatting about. Remember, climate is a long term understanding of large systems and weather is a short term event affecting your locale.

Various school systems across NC have already announced they are closed prior to a single flake falling. This can be taken as either an extreme example of chicken little syndrome or a testament to the ever greater accuracy of meteorological forecasting. I am not sure which is right.

It’s time to replace the batteries in your sarcasm detector.

Pardon me, VaWolf. I am usually not good at detecting sarcasm in print form. General stupidity referring to assertions based on well regarded science gets me riled up.

I do plan to enjoy what little snow we may get in the next day or so here in the Triangle area.

54F today at lunch in Central VA. Down to about 10F tonight and we won’t be back above freezing until Thursday.

I keep hoping that global warming will eventually reach here.

I do hope you realize that “Global Warming”/”Climate Change” is not a good indicator for what happens locally and on relatively short timescales such as a day, week or even a year. One of my pet peeves is the complete lack of understanding that most people have regarding the scientific method and how generally ignorant people are about climate versus weather.

I think Deacon Blues (and perhaps others too) hit the nail on the head. This game would not have gone to overtime if our boys could consistently hit free throws. We keep giving up free points. That is a killer along with the poor rebounding. Both of these should be easy to fix. I don’t know how the coaching staff approaches fixing these issues, but I sure do hope they make the kids practice lots of FTs and rebounding drills. It’s very frustrating as a fan to see talented players go to the stripe and clank the ball off the rim when even as a kid, I would stand on my driveway and practice free throws for hours. Is the mentality nowadays too focused on breakaway jams instead of fundamentals?

Wow, I am impressed by all the mind-reading and inferences made about what is going inside players’ heads. As someone who watches the games at home on TV more often than in person at the RBC/PNC, I have been impressed by the cohesion between players on this year’s team. They all seem to be playing together and there seems to be very little of the chemistry issues we have seen in the past. I don’t know anyone on the team personally and all I can talk about is what I have witnessed. This team has potential to become very good, I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the season play out. I hope Tyler busts through whatever malaise you guys think he has.

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

Calvin Coolidge

Peace to y’all and a merry Christmas!
