There’s some reason for hope, WTNY. Dance card has two teams (SMU and Providence) over (technically BELOW) the ‘Bubble Bursts Here’ line that Lunardi has as locks in the tournament. Also, two teams (SoMiss and Cal) ABOVE the line on the Dance card who are NOT in Lunardi’s bracket. If Providence loses, then hope yet remains. If Providence wins, we’re for sure NIT-ing!
Still a fighting chance. Lunardi has Providence in as a lock regardless of their game with Creighton.
Jigs, I think you’re right. Even after some refreshes, ND State isn’t showing up even though they won their tournament.

Rick, I’m surprised with those two officials that none of our guys are in foul trouble. We played solid on the ball defense, especially on the dribbler, even if we gave up some drives and scores. We need to remain cognizant of open shooters in the 2nd half. I’m sure UM will be driving and kicking in the 2nd half.
Le Nard needed a helper after the poster work from Rion Brown. If we start playing outside passing lanes and getting steals, this game will be over quickly.
Great work VaWolf! Two things that caught my eye. (1) This matrix really doesn’t change a great deal with one win or one loss. Take our near miss against WF that wouldn’t have changed much. (2) Steve Donahue deserves the Seth Greenberg/Paul Hewitt Parting Gift!!
BJD, the Referee Bill Pittman Show allusion made my day! Even an objective analysis of the league’s position is less than what it was. Regardless of whether it was caused directly or indirectly by his actions, the league is perhaps 4th best of the big-time conferences. If Duke and the Asterisk are getting considerably more positive publicity compared to the other members, including the National Champion Semen-holes in FB, then I conclude his tenure has NOT been a good one. And his head is either full of dog excrement or human excrement!
ogboards.com if you like to follow WFU stuff. I’m really interested to see if Wellman cuts Bzdelik off or sinks with that ship! Also, bloggersodear is the SBNation blog for WFU. Good stuff there too. VaTech’s boards are good. Haven’t checked other schools’ forums much.
I think the officials in this game sucked. And they blew. Does that mean that we can charge Swoff with running a prostitution ring?
Agreed, BJD. He brought them here, and he’ll be held accountable more next year for their development. But I fully believe that next year is an NCAA bid or bust. He had two years of a stellar lineup which lead to two bids. This time, it’s on him, and if next year is a repeat of this year, he needs to find new employment. As of right now, Mark Gottfried holds the NC State record for almosts (Kansas, UN* X2, Duke in Cameron, Syracuse, etc) in only three years of coaching.
Gott literally has one true basketball player and 11 half players on his team. I’m not sure anyone would do much better than .500 with this bunch.
It’s becoming more and more apparent that I’m insane. I watch NC State basketball again and again expecting a different result.
Agreed regarding selective whistling for the Freeman play. I think 20+ free throws have already been attempted and a kid goes for a rebound, holds it and gets thrown to the ground goes by the wayside.
