OT Triston Miller commits to the Pack. Here is the PackPride write-up! Still a few more players out there for the taking. I’m hoping for some great news with the other two parts of GreyWolf’s trifecta!!
SaccoVParticipantTractor57, it’s one thing when talent and losses demand change, it’s another to recognize the importance of role-players among the context of highly-regarded recruits and potential NFL stars. Although I’m certain that Lou Holtz probably did the same thing in his day with role players, I really enjoy what Doeren is doing to promote these unsung guys among his team.
SaccoVParticipantNews regarding landing the 5* long snapper … Although a bit hokey, I really like Doeren giving some pub to a forgotten part. I love the videos we’ve seen of the walk-ons getting their scholarships as this attests to Doeren’s ‘family environment.’ It’s a good thing to see because as fans, we mirror this sentiment in our daily lives. We have our spirits lifted when we see another Pack fan or Pack alum, and we seem to share a special bond … one that doesn’t come with the purchase of a t-shirt and a degree from UNCG.
Making the ‘little’ guys and role-players feel important can only increase his status with potential recruits. And GreyWolf, your previous post reminds me of another aspect of that story with Kennedy and the Space Race. The janitor at NASA was once asked by an outsider, “What is your job here?” and the janitor replied “I’m working to put a man on the moon.” Items like this one help further that sentiment with the team.
SaccoVParticipantAlso, Clark’s commitment moves the class up to #19 according to 247.
SaccoVParticipantUpdate — C.J. Clark (4* from North Stanly HS) just committed to the Pack!! The first of GreyWolf’s trifecta is coming. Haven’t hit the refresh button this many times since Lee Fowler was the AD!!
SaccoVParticipantTwo more commits for the 2019 class has moved the overall class to #23. Doeren has mangaged at this point to out-recruit UN*!!
SaccoVParticipantI’m on-board with Doeren creating a much more solid culture of winning and development than we’ve seen, definitely since Sheridan. His coaching staff is rock solid, and getting recruiting victories like we haven’t seen since CTC.
Recruiting wins notwithstanding, this is Finley’s final year coming up, and we’ll see how much Doeren’s coaching acumen has improved. It appeared to me last year that he did cede some of his gameday decisions to his coordinators, which is a double-edged sword. I want to see him really re-vamp our defensive schemes and change things more conducive to dominating a game against inferior league opponents (Pitt game last year comes to mind), and with the players we have coming in, that should be possible. But I want to see that on Saturdays in the fall. And to answer my own question from the top of the thread, we have NOT moved into the elite category yet. But I believe we are getting closer to the elite than we have been since the Amato years.
SaccoVParticipantThanks, Greywolf. My thoughts as the Jackson announcement was coming along was the old adage regarding The Nose, and perhaps now the old Coach K, who could come in late in the game and steal a recruit. You’re absolutely right that Jackson re-opened his recruitment and that DD and Kitchings and Patrick took advantage. I like this mentality in our coaching staff and it appears those coaches are selling good values to these recruits.
Here’s hoping the dominoes continue to fall in our direction with Knight and the others.
SaccoVParticipantThe Princeton-offense is giving us fits. Al got a third on Lammers, but I seriously doubt Lammers sits at this point. His passing is the key to the whole thing working.
SaccoVParticipantThe fight in this team is such a wonderful sight. Considering that two of our guys got fouled clearly on that last bucket by Dorn and not even a hint of a call tells you everything about this horse-hockey officiating crew.
SaccoVParticipantI’m glad Cory Alexander likes the officials in this game. Besides their own mothers, he’s the only person.
SaccoVParticipantJust curious to any posters … were any of you guys living out at AFC around 97-98?
SaccoVParticipantLennard Freeman did not get fouled on that put-back. It seemed that two Ga Tech guys had their hands on his body preventing him from shooting, but that is NOT a foul.
SaccoVParticipantThat out of bounds call on Beverly just a bit ago was super terrible.
SaccoVParticipantAbu’s senior year might exceed Thornton’s for extended foul range.
SaccoVParticipantSpoke too soon.
SaccoVParticipantDoes the tech foul count toward the double bonus? Because I think Ga Tech will be shooting two shortly.
SaccoVParticipantBotB, working two jobs and living away from family, so I honestly don’t have the time to do previews. Hopefully, when the family is reunited, I can resume ‘coverage.’ I will be in attendance on Saturday for the ACC Wrestling Championships, though.
SaccoVParticipantBoy, is Malik Abu just terrible?
SaccoVParticipantChecking in from the Mother City. Here by the Convention Center for work, and getting a chance to watch the game tonight on TV and blog. First time in a long time. Dorn appears to be deadly from inside 3 feet.
SaccoVParticipantWildwolf! Is that the first time that has worked this year?
SaccoVParticipantTOS reported of a Drink to SC rumor. After that 1st and goal series, Iām willing to help Drink pack.

10/14/2017 at 3:03 PM in reply to: What Did Columbus Actually Say When Approaching Pittsburgh? #125206SaccoVParticipantNarduzzi should be fired for that play call.
10/14/2017 at 2:53 PM in reply to: What Did Columbus Actually Say When Approaching Pittsburgh? #125201SaccoVParticipantAnyone want to explain to the rest of us noobs why that was NOT a block in the back on the return?
