ParticipantWould love to join you but heading back to NC. My family is still there while I’m working here. Selling our house has been a complete nightmare. Thanks for the offer, 44!! I would love to gather for some Basketball games and even a wrestling match or two!! I have another great Wolfpacker friend in Tucker but he works a very odd schedule and can’t get much time when State stuff is happening. I will be around though.

ParticipantJust moved to ATL (Living in Flowery Branch but working in Snellville). Will check it out and will most certainly like!

ParticipantWe had a heck of a preseason. I hate to be the first one to post it, but when does basketball get started again?
SaccoV
ParticipantGood to hear from you Rick! Maybe we’ll bring Shad back to kick for us!!

ParticipantWonderful drive that punish VT. Why not run again on 3 and 2, since it worked the previous 2 times. Matt Canada has left way too many questions in these last two games.

ParticipantI’m trying to recall if we even completed a deep pass against the scrubs. If we don’t hurt at least one team deep, we’re not going to win very many games.

ParticipantI had said on another post that 5-3 conference record is Doeren’s goal for this season. This team during the 2nd quarter is no better than the winless team two years ago.

ParticipantOption play is working. Does add some piss and vinegar to my bloodstream that option plays weren’t employed last week.

ParticipantI’m not sure why we’re not continuing to attack the edges. It seems to be working.

ParticipantIf we don’t soften up VT with some long passes, this game will come down to a FG. That troubles me more than communism at this point.

ParticipantWhy do I suddenly feel the need to play “Red Faction” on PS2?

ParticipantLiving in GA now, away from family and away from NC, so this is my first live game blog of the year. Also, nervous about Dodgers-Mets opener in LA (huge Dodgers fan as well). Come on BP meds!!

Participant^^I didn’t even think the Asterisk was our rival.

ParticipantShad is a very good running back, and I firmly believe his opportunities are not limited in football. I hope that he gets the chance to finish his degree this year, and has that to fall back on. Doeren’s hand was forced here because of Shad’s past. I applaud Doeren for making this decision; it reaffirms my understanding that Doeren stands by his word. I am so pleased that my alma mater’s football coach honored his word; it’s quite a rarity, especially in college sports.

ParticipantHere’s hoping that the outstanding work of the 2nd-stringers on offense jumpstarts the 1st team. A decent performance overall, but the first half was so underwhelming. The worst part for me was Brissett fumbling once and then attempting a terrible throw while already in the grasp. No need to play hero ball against EKU in the 2nd quarter.

ParticipantGreywolf, I still laugh when I think of the Triple Play line he fired back to Withers in regards to the Asterisk as the ‘flagship’ of the university system. Good for the old Leatherneck! Also, The 2-star steakhouse crack in the Twitter post was beautiful!

ParticipantIn terms of prediction, mark me down for 9 wins for the season, but a 5-3 record in this league is a must for me. I hope that CDD has the same mentality. There’s no reason to hedge expectations for this team. We have the best RB core in the league by far. We have (at worst) the 3rd best QB in the league, probably the 2nd best running QB (if you take Watson over him). FSU is the only game I would mark as an expected loss from this point. If our running game is as good as the end of last season, all of us will be very happy with the results.

ParticipantI expect a lot of yards on the ground.

ParticipantEven with an ACCT birth, it’s highly unlikely State gets an at-large unless a nice win-streak happens.
SaccoV
ParticipantHow does a team give up 6 runs on 7 hits? The answer? WALKS!! ND has earned 7 free passes and 4 of those walks have scored.
SaccoV
ParticipantWilliamson lost control in the 2nd. A walk, a 2-run homer, 2 more walks, 2-run single, another walk. Wolzack in.
SaccoV
ParticipantBubba Riley makes a nice catch and a barrel roll for the first out, and O’Donnell strikes out the last hitter to seal the win! I’ll be up for Game #3 in just 45 minutes.
SaccoV
ParticipantTop of the 14th ends but not until the Pack adds another on a 4-pitch walk with the bases loaded. Pack leads 4-2 heading to close it out.
SaccoV
ParticipantFoose, I agree that he tends to argue at the wrong times, but that first pitch ‘strike’ was terrible. Outside and low and it was easily both from my perspective. Knizner with the sac fly, Pack up 3-2. 2 out.
