All this from someone who bragged about only watching 30 minutes of Wolfpack football last year. Not smart to show your ignorance about Wolfpack football because you don’t like the coach
So what did I say that has anything to do with watching the games or any particular football knowledge? Hint: nothing but that apparently doesn’t matter to you and your high horse. If I remember correctly you were predicting ten wins for the Pack football so you might want to be right about something before you call someone else ignorant.
Stay with what you know, Rick, or better still keep quiet and try to learn something.
I have been very respectful to your “we are one step from awesome” opinion. What I have learned is you believe you know more than anyone. So thank you for that “lesson”.
Good heavens that is an awful ranking for a class. It appears the “new coach” bump is gone and he has not performed well enough to get players excited about coming here. I thought surely his bubbly personality would bring them in droves. DD has to have a big year next year or the death spiral will start.
BTW I don’t buy the “we don’t need a lot of player this year” argument. Football always needs a lot of players as it takes time for them to develop into college players.

I worry this is the case. The administration does not seem to care to be good at the revenue sports. I guess the end of this season will give us a good indication.
I am to the point I want there to be zero reason for Yow to keep Gott. I would prefer she not be involved in any coaching search but at this point I am so sick of Gott ball I would take it. If she pulls in Archie then I will retract everything I ever said about her.

Anyone who changes their mind over one game is way too emotional and incapable of logical decisions. Gott has shown his flaws since year two. They are now becoming more and more apparent either due to losing Lutz or Gott reprioritizing his life. He has to go but I fear he will make a mini run that will save his job.
He has played out to be Sendekian. I said it after the UNC-CH game. He has the program in better shape than it was in when Lowe left
Actually I think he will leave it in worse shape from a player standpoint. He had some solid talent when he came in and depending on what happens at the end of this year he could leave us with hardly a starting line up. And if he lasts another year it will be inarguable that he will leave it worse.

Gott was indeed a pretty good coach, but he’s falling off just like what happened at Bama.
How many coaches in the ACC would you take him over? Not many. Of course he does have that pinnacle of success, two sweet 16s so his job is safe forever.
Does Yow understand how terrible this is or is she oblivious? How could her marquee coach be a guy that was fired and doing ESPN for 2 years? And she paid him like a proven commodity? Fire her butt!
She claims she knows basketball (where have I heard that?) but her actions seem to indicate otherwise. She ran a horrid hiring process cumulating in a last gasp hire with major baggage. It worked for a short while but has run the same course as his last position (but at a faster pace) and someone with any basketball knowledge could see it coming a mile away. She kept handing out extensions like they were candy and now we don’t even know if we can get rid of an obviously uninterested or incompetent $2.5M coach.
Sick of the entire basketball community being astounded at our defense.
This has been a consistent problem under Gott and for years it was blamed on the players. They were too slow. They were not athletic enough etc. It appears at this point it is now obvious to everyone. Even Bonner was perplexed by it.
That is her call, and so far she is on Gott’s side.
I would expect her to be on his side through the season. If she can afford the buyout, then I also expect her to move after the season assuming that the current dumpster fire continues.
If we truly cannot fire him because of his contract then Yow should be shown the door. There was no other school coming after him so there was no reason to keep extending his contract. Only an idiot would have given him such a coach friendly contract, it is just shy of the Paul Hewitt contract.
At least the debate on whether Gott is a good coach is done. Now the question is how long we hold onto him. After this year, his recruiting magic is going to dry up. When recruits see what he has done with this talent none will come to here. There is only one recruit next year, no transfers and there will be another mass exodus. What a mess.

Defense does not have to be boring. It can lead to easy offense especially if you rebound and fast break.

I think it’s fair to say they missed open threes. So no, our defense did not improve.Over the years Duke has relied more and more on the three. When they are cold they can be beat if you limit their points from turnovers. Sounds like that is what happened.
If the defense is still giving up a lot of open threes then don’t expect a run.And yeah, I fear they will make any excuse to keep Gott even a flimsy one like “improvement”.
