You are the main reason I stay off this site because your name rhymes with what you are ….

lol you’re on here all the time what are you talking about

No I am not. I stayed off for months … as soon as Rick, Wulfpack, others become successful ADs instead of shrilling babies perhaps I would think they know what they talk about.

    Lol.
States he stays off the boards because people call others names.
Good on to repeatedly calls names.

    Irony at it’s finest.

What’s really funny is I have no idea who he is. He/she is very forgettable but apparently I have scarred him. Anonymous boards are not for everyone.

I keep seeing this written as fact. We really have no idea if the Miller’s and other coaching circles view NCSU and Pack gig unfavorably.

Please see the John Miller quote above.

I read that quote as a reference to Yow but it is certaintly open to interpretation

BTW idiotic is an adjective not a name.

But it’s been many years since I was thin enough to be called stick so thank you.

Every coach we have had since Sendek had recruited at a high level. If Yow hired a coach because he could recruit the area, as seems to be they logic on this thread, she is truly idiotic.

No one has stated that. My comment was in reply to the Indiana recruitment statements.

As usual you just throw out bitter name calling when the AD or anyone does not agree with you. You are the main reason I stay off this site because your name rhymes with what you are ….

    Someone said this
‘State actually has built-in geographic recruiting disadvantages. So some recruiting foothold is important or ability to recruit nationally or internationally’

Which is what I was referring to. I am sure of if I wanted to I could fine l find more references because this seems to be a recurring talking point.

Upset? I agreed with you that your argument was bad

LOL You are literally using “Uh uh” as a debate tactic.

This is simply a bad argument.

I thought the same thing when you joined in and made it an argument.

You started this thread as an obvious attempt to antagonize people you disagree with so don’t get upset when it generates discussion.

Rick: I’m not sure we went cheap. I think we went with the best candidate that really wanted to be here and then paid him the current market price for a high major. I tend to think Illinois throwing $5m around gave candidates a lot of leverage.

UNCW is not a high major. But I guess he is a hot commodity so that could have driven the contract up.

ANd money was obviously a factor in the hiring of Keatts. He may work out but we went cheap.

I keep hearing this line of thought but as someone else mentioned, Keatts $2.2million puts his contract in the top 20 as per http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/mens-basketball/coach/

Who on that list did you want, and for how much? Do you think Archie deserves to be paid $3million and put in the top ten?

BTW, look at what Sean is making compared to ORW. AT least that’s what ORW’s “listed” compensation is, I would imagine he gets a pretty penny through “channels”.

I agree he is overpaid. We went cheap and then overpaid him. Yow is not good with contracts.

Perhaps ole dummy Keatts knows something about coaching that 2 board monkeys and the talking heads don’t know.

    Straw man much?

Your claim doesn’t pass the smell test. “UVA was able to go to the basket at will for uncontested layups.” Yet UVA only won by 7

Again, they lost the game and UVA scored more than their average. So it doesn’t prove he can (or cannot) coach at this level. This is simply a bad argument.

You mean the ones he lost? There are reasons to believe he will succeed, this is hardly one of them. His team gave up 70 points to UVA.

Citing his 2 games vs ACC opponents wasn’t to show he would succeed, but the closeness of the games indicates he can coach on a big stage. He lost by less than 10 points with a bunch of guys from the whatever conference it was. Being able to take those guys and compete in the against ACC teams indicates to me he can coach in the ACC. It seems to indicate to you he can’t. Oh well, lets see what else you got.

His team didn’t “give up 70 points” to UVA, Rick, he forced UVA to play HIS game. Did you miss where UVA gave up more points to lowly UNC-W than the average ACC team scored? I guess it depends on what you want to prove with the available data what you see.

It’s great that you see this as some feather in his cap but the only thing it actually proves is he can lose to them playing his “style of basketball” as you put it.

    Rick,

Probably about as close as you can get. Several published reports are in the $2.6 range. Interesting….

In 2016, Alford GAVE BACK a contract extension. He (Gottfried GOTT 2 years) received a 1 year “Automatic” for a Sweet 16 Appearance in 2013/14. The 2015/16 season, per Alford….Was NOT up to UCLA Standards.

So, he “Gave it Back”. THAT is class…

He caught a lot of grief for his one bad season which is why I would be shocked if he did not end up at Indiana.

Goodnight played freshman basketball at State. My dad played with him.
For whatever reason he does not care one whit about NCSU athletics.

ANd money was obviously a factor in the hiring of Keatts. He may work out but we went cheap.

About the concern for coaching in the ACC, IMO he’s shown he can coach here by his 2 games in the NCAAT.

You mean the ones he lost? There are reasons to believe he will succeed, this is hardly one of them. His team gave up 70 points to UVA.

I didn’t change the title of the thread but it would be nice if people could make a point without calling someone who disagrees with them names. I guess that’s too much to ask.

He has a clean reputation with no baggage

I’m confused… Rick said he’s immoral. WHICH IS IT???

He was there. So you all seem to think the head recruiter knew nothing about hookers being hired for the very players he was recruiting.
    How naive.

Remember that Shaka ain’t done DIDDLY at UT. He took Barnes’ Talent and went to the NCAA last year. Lowe did that with Herbie’s talent and almost beat UNC in the ACCT Final game.

Uh Lowe never made the NCAA tournament.

If this is true and we don’t have a Marshall, Holtmann or Buzz Williams-surprise type hire lined up, then I hate to say it but the talking heads are right. Really quite astonishing we can’t find better coaches.

Either NCSU or Yow sucks. Its one or the other.
If we cannot hire a coach as good as the one VT hired then we might as well pack it in.

I do NOT see him working out by any measure.

If that was the criteria for leaving, I would have left a decade ago. Stay….Hope for the best….watch it all crash and burn. That pretty much sums up the last decade of Wolpfack basketball.

I have always felt that way but am tired of stinking. There has been nothing to really get excited about in a long time. Pure and utter futility. Well unless you are a fan of bass fishing.

I am officially worried about how the coaching search turns out. I already had concerns with Yow running it but if those two are really that high on the list and we whiff on Arch then we are in big trouble. This is the most important hire in decades and I fear we are screwed.
