    Welp.

    That makes no sense. He was not even invited to the combines. He was not only going to start he was going to be showcased with a great PG. Something is broken in that program.

    I sense that I’m falling for the PR narrative, but my confidence in this matter has taken a beating. Trying to keep the faith, hoping there’s still a surprise in the making

    I’m going to help you here. No surprises. The new NOA showed the NCAA’s hand. If you think football and men’s basketball are going to face any punishment of significance, I seriously question your reading comprehension. I’ll save you the surprise now – it isn’t happening. You know it. I know it. Yow knows it. And she’s not about to even try to do a darned thing about it because she has the cuddlies with that sham of an organization in Indy.

    No one with a brain believes they will get a substantial punishment at this point.

    Maintaining our integrity matters at NC State and we will not take short cuts in order to win games.

    Truer words were never spoken. We are fighting with two hand tied behind our back. If we are NOT going to play with the big boys we might as well drop to DII.

    BJD called this a while ago. I sure hope they both come back. This is like a nightmare.

    So, how does one go forward from this point on as a college athletics fan? What’s the point? There is a really good chance I have watched my last ncaa event. I am proud to say that moment was long before the tarheel 2nd place championship finish

    I am struggling with this as well. If there is no level playing field why bother?

    “I’m actually impressed how the new NOA is actually even less sever. How did they manage that? UNC is *almost* as powerful as the LGBT community.”

    Alias Troll,

    You had me rolling in my Algebra 1 class this morning. My students think I’m high. Thanks for the chuckle!

    How did I miss that line? Its brilliant

    I live in peace knowing their alumni fan base lives in shame of what happened, their image is tarnished as long as Roy Williams coaches, and every kid that puts on the UNC uniform is well aware he/she wears the logo of a cheater!

    You are kidding right? No one cares but NCSU fans. This will be forgotten in no time.
    Frankly at this point collegiate sports are a joke. Any school that does not set up a fake degree to keep their athletes eligible will fall behind.

    Alias,
    They removed all reference to football and MBB. They are pinning it on wbb. Nothing significant is going to happen.

    I agree on this taking down the NCAA. Any school ever punished week sue. I don’t understand went they did it though.

    Fresh,
    I believe it replaces. Amended means fixed. Also they are the same charges with most of the real bad stuff removed.

    I mean, the NCAA obviously is not out to hammer UNC.. they were essentially complicit in giving them a shot at the title game this year

    Which, combined with the NCAA foot dressing, is why i didn’t expect any punishment at all.

    Hate to say it, but told ya so.

    And I believe we were called names for our justifiable skepticism. I won’t be holding my breath for any apologies.
    I think we can disregard some claims to have ‘sources’.

    “This is a replacement of” the original allegations, Cunningham says. So original football, men’s basketball references are wiped away.

    I don’t recommend clicking the link just because N&O sucks but here is their analysis.

    UNC accused of no new major violations in NCAA’s amended Notice of Allegations
    Amended NOA has five Level I violations listed

    Football, men’s basketball not named in amended NOA

    Arrival of new NOA represents next step amid a long-running NCAA investigatio

    I don’t care about scholarships, post season bans, or Roy. I want banners coming down. I want ACC and NCAA championships revoked. Nothing else hurts them except the sting of losing their precious. They can easily weather any other punishment. Losing the laundry would be a total B-slap to their arrogant face.

    I think best case is some scholarships and post season bans. Nothing is coming down.

    I hope and pray he is right too. I would like nothing better than to have to eat tons of crow on this particular subject.

    In the fall of 2048 the NCAA is going to hammer UNC by reducing the field hockey team’s scholarships by 1/2 a scholarship. Followed by a press conference with stern words about how UNC teams to do better or they will again face quick and harsh consequences.

    The idea of Lutz as the HC is not comforting either.
    What it appears to be is a mess but hopefully things are actually taking place that will improve things. Nonetheless we have to get some more bodies in here, hopefully ones that can contribute as we are paper thin.

    The more I think and ponder about demoting Lutz, the more I am now beginning to question our overall direction. I gave the AD a mulligan for the obtuse and contorted path that let to Coach Gottfried. That worked out well for a while. BUT, now we begin to see unraveling of the program.

    It has been a rudderless ship from the outset. The captain is a mess and the crew is abandoning ship. It is just a matter of time before we hit the iceberg. The only question is do we get in front of it. It appears we are not.

    Ben Carter who is a PF from UNLV is transferring from the program and can play immediately. NC State is one of his scheduled visits. From the little I’ve read about the guy, here is what I found:

    – Initially played for Oregon. Was suspended 9 games for selling team gear;
    – Transferred from Oregon to UNLV because he wasn’t happy with his minutes and being forced to play the 5 position;
    – His father, who was quoted in everything I read, is a prominent AAU coach on the West Coast;
    – He tore his ACL at the end of January, and will begin light jogging in May

    I know we need big guys, and I know we have lots of scholarships, but this one makes me nervous.

    You can smell the desperation a mile away.

    There are definitely more transfer now. The difference between the better teams in the conference and the lower tier seem to be how many transfers they have.
    Chicken or egg though.

    The statement was “nobody is paying close attention”.

    The statement was “nobody is paying that close attention”.

    And they aren’t. Hell, I’d venture a guess that half of our own fans probably don’t even know there’s been any change.

    I apologize for leaving out the unnecessary “that”. My intention was not to deceive.
    We will just have to agree to disagree.
