My guess is that defense comment was made trying to excuse our sorry defense. Honestly it is inexcusable.
I can’t remember the specifics of the posts but it had something to do with kids coming in already set in their ways, and they really can’t be taught how to play D. And how it takes a bunch of time for them to learn. Granted, Bennett recruits the right kind of kid. But something tells me he could go into Harlem today and take a team a long way.

Agree about Bennett, he insists on good defense. I always questioned his ability to teach offense^^.. personally deliverd by Jamie Luckie….
The announcers said someone else called it but Luckie went over to explain it to K.
it is hard to teach ‘kids these days’ defense.
That is a different statement than ‘defense can’t be taught’.
Yea, it’s been said on here by some a few times.

I have never seen anyone make the claim that you cannot teach defense. Has someone?
I guess u will never understand the mindset that says you should ‘not put it in the refs hands’. So they are saying, in essence, you cannot count on the refs calling a fair game.

That’s not what was shown on the replay last night right after the play. I will try to find. Was this before the fall? Because when he fell there was clearly space between he and the two Duke players. Now what caused the fall. Maybe they didn’t show that. But the announcers and studio guys appeared to agree with the no call.
I did not watch the game (this ending was way too predictable) so I have not seen the video but I posted a picture that imo leaves no doubt. The refs are scared of K.

I know it is an unpopular idea around here, but I think Debbie Yow’s legacy will be a negative one because we sold the equivalent of “lifetime rights” to the conference by signing off the grants of rights and they know now that no matter how unbalanced their treatment of us and other mid-tier schools is, we have no recourse whatsoever.
Along with LTRs ruining the basketball atmosphere, that was one of the worst things State has ever done to itself. We’ve gone quite far to doom ourselves, and in inimitable NC State fashion, we did it to ourselves.

You are welcome. I know I am s little crazy about refs sometimes but when I see this obvious bias it drives me absolutely insane

I know I’m in the minority here, but I actually don’t want Maryland to go. Of course, I’ve never been a visiting fan at any of their arenas, either. It’s just the nostalgia of the greatest game ever (74 ACCT final). And Lefty and Len Bias.
Nostalgia gets you nothing in this day and age. Md was full of douches and brought nothign to the table.
BTW I fondly remember Lefty too.
Our defense was above average tonight and we didn’t turn the ball over. We attempted 10 more shots than Miami.
That was a pretty solid TEAM performance. Buckets was Buckets. But tonight’s rock star was “Ralston-Turner Overdrive” (I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that. Awesome, Rick.)
