For those scoring at home, Duke had one field goal in the last 10 1/2 minutes of the game. All their other points were free throws.

Judy Eller Street was 61 when she played collegiate golf. I think her father felt she was finally ready.

Yeah, I figured the 5 years was common knowledge.

Good question. The only reason I can think of is because it’s the NCAA. Makes no sense to me.

I’m crossing my fingers that he is able to get a medical red-shirt, and hence a 6th year of eligibility. He deserves to be able to play 2 more years if he wants to.

A lot of people are saying that, even Gott, but I don’t see how it will happen. To get a 6th year, you have to have lost two years due to medical or other circumstances beyond the player’s control. Red-shirting due to the transfer rule is not considered outside the player’s control.

We’re 12-11. 8 of our losses were by 3,7,5,5,3,7,7,4. Take 25 of Mav’s 33 minutes per game and give them to Henderson…

    Oh well.

By the time the season rolls around, Jalan will have had three spring practices & spring games, three summers, and two full regular seasons of practice with limited game reps.

With all that behind him it shouldn’t take long to figure out if he’s going to be the guy or not.

I forgot about Frasier. A combination of Dayes & Frasier to go along with Samuel and Hines should be pretty impressive. I also have not heard anything about Gallaspy transferring, although someone here mentioned he was going. Hopefully that was bad intel or he has changed his mind.

In today’s paper I read the assessment of the 2016 commits to State, Duke and UNC. What struck me most was that State didn’t have any 4 or 5-stars, and Duke had more 4-stars than UNC.

It’s doubtful that Wolfpack football will improve much if any next season. It takes massive talent influx to get to the level most of us would like to see. I have no doubts that these kids are hard workers and committed to bringing glory to NCSU, but this isn’t basketball, where maybe only one or two really good players are all you need to get to the next level or beyond.

Just a couple of points. Number of stars is pretty subjective as some have noted, although landing a bunch of 4s and a few 5s is a pretty good indicator of future success. It also depends on the rating service. The article you read has us with no four stars. Rivals has us getting 2 – TE Thaddeus Moss and WR Kelvin Harmon. Scout has us getting one, DT Shug Frasier.

Regarding next year, it’s not often recruits have much of an impact in their first year, so I don’t think it will make much difference to next year’s results, but rather 2 or three years down the road. We did pick up a couple of guys who could help immediately. For the rest, only time will tell.

How the team does on the field next year will go a long way in determining how 2017 recruiting turns out. And I think on field results are going to depend a lot on the play of our new QB. I will be interested to see in the spring game how Jalan and Jakobi play, although Jalan should have a significant edge in experience alone. I know we have lots of weapons on offense, but we need a QB who can run the show nonetheless.

Happy to get a 4 star wide receiver. We really needed one. Thaddeus Moss is going to be really good as well.

I agree he’s planting a seed. It’s no secret K tells his players the refs can’t call everything, so hopefully they are mindful of this Saturday. Of course it can backfire and every one of our players are gone before the first media timeout. Then we’ll get to watch Corch, Kirk, Brickhouse, and Cannon.

Mav had some misses at crucial points in the game. 1 for 7 overall. I hope he works on his shooting in the offseason. I guess I have to remind myself he’s only a freshman. It’s good he has no fear.

Waiting for an announcement from WR Kelvin Harmon. Should come within the hour. He de-committed from South Carolina, and it’s between us and Miami. Could go either way, but I like our chances. Miss. State offered today, which is kind of strange given he is announcing tonight.

NBA scouts at tonight’s game. I hope Cat has another great game. It’s going to be tough though. 40 minutes Saturday, travel Sunday, play tonight. We’ll see soon enough.

He’s getting closer. He was dressed and on the floor practicing on a limited basis, but mostly individual stuff with the team today in Tallahassee.

I don’t think we would see him against Duke, but you never know. If not, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get some minutes against WF a week from Saturday.

So, I went to PNC yesterday to enjoy watching Cat Barber, and a basketball game broke out. One key difference between this game and all those losses is that it was played for the most part under control, ie, there was not a bunch of crazy threes jacked up by Mav and Caleb. Those shots always put us behind the eight ball. Only 11 threes taken yesterday. Otherwise they worked the ball inside, worked being the operative word. It takes more effort to play the type of game they played yesterday, and thankfully they were rewarded for the effort. Beejay was definitely more engaged, and actually went after rebounds. Even Mav was crashing the boards.

Hopefully they put this game in their memory banks, and use this as a blueprint the rest of the way.

On a side note, Henderson’s limp looks almost gone. It was just barely noticeable, but it was there, so still a ways to go. And

Also, Caleb looked like he hurt his ankle pretty badly, so that could be an issue on a short turnaround.

I’m persevering and going to the game tomorrow, although my sole motivation now is to simply to watch and enjoy Cat Barber play basketball. I’m hoping one game he just lets it all hang out and puts up 50.

While this season is clearly a nightmare for the fans, I can only imagine the nightmare it is in the locker room. BJ has clearly checked out. I refuse to think Lennard has checked out. He’s not that type of player. Gottfried’s history at Alabama and here is once he’s lost a player, they’re gone. This is ugly right now, and I think it’s going to get a lot uglier.

Having just one, or even two guards on an ACC basketball team is inexcusable, regardless of the circumstances.

Don’t you have to answer some kind of a math question now to prove you are a real person in order to register? Something like 1+2=_? I was certain that would keep out any Carolina fans.

Just not enough bodies to hang in the whole game. So many fouls on our bigs early in the 2nd (a few pretty cheap ones too) made them back off playing aggressive defense, and Meeks had a monster half.

Gott talking about Cat not being aggressive or having a good game. I have to say I can’t blame Cat. He has to be shell shocked, worn out, and mentally whipped.

It’s interesting to see even Duke and K aren’t immune from struggling due to a key injury. Even with their half dozen Macdonald AAs, they lose Amile Jefferson and suddenly can’t beat Utah or Clemson. And yesterday they lose to ND.

I watched a couple of Caleb’s Oak Hill games on TV, and he was the same way. Not a good shooter. He would airball a few then hit one. Most of his points were off of tenacious defense and in transition with his brother.
