5 of 7 drills complete for the OL guys. Thuney near the top in every category. Good for him.

Shad at the bottom in the vertical jump. It’s safe to say he will be an undrafted FA unless he does something miraculous. That’s too bad. I was thinking with his early exit from the team he maybe could have gotten a trainer to work on these drills. And maybe he did. He had to really impress to get into the draft, but he’s done the opposite.

Thuney on the other hand can possibly move up a round or two.

4.72 40 for Shad. Thuney is really helping himself so far, but Shad is really hurting himself. Near the bottom in strength and near the bottom in speed.

4.69 for Shad on his second run. Keith Marshall with a 4.27.

That should have said 12 for Shad, but still one of the worst.

Thuney also did well in the bench press with 28 reps which put him in the top 3rd. His 40 yard time was 2nd best among OL.

State has 5 players going this week – Burris, Thuney, Shad, Grinnage, and Brissett.

Shad had one of the worst bench presses among RBs with 10. Hopefully he makes up for it in the speed and agility drills.

So, Henderson isn’t healing properly from his injury, and Lennard isn’t healing properly from his injury. Who exactly is the team doctor?

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

Then we pop a cap in their asses.

It’s only speculation now, but it would have been interesting to see the impact Trevor coming back would have had on Cat. He would still be the PG, but Lacey would have the ball in his hands a lot. Cat would probably also be playing about 5 less minutes a game. I think his points would be down to about 15 or 16, but his assists would be up thanks to feeding Lacey. Overall he wouldn’t be getting the publicity and accolades he is today, but the team would be better.

Bottom line, we would not have Rowan for sure, Trevor wouldn’t be any more draftable, and Cat would likely be a lower draft choice, or none at all. Finally, it might have caused Cat to come back for his senior year, and potentially Dennis Smith to go elsewhere.

Okay, one more bold statement. If you gave Mav’s minutes to Trevor, every game we lost by 8 points or less we would have won.

Alright, all that speculating just gave me a headache. Back to reality.

Mav has definitely improved a lot of facets of his game. Even his defense has gotten better. This season however has ridden on the shooting of Mav and Cody, and they have been streaky at best. We’ve seen too many 1 for 10 games from both of them, all losses. Sure it was fun to watch and yes we won the game, but I would love to see a bit more consistency from both. I would not be shocked to see another 1 for 10 night Wednesday. But here’s hoping they can continue their hot shooting. If they do, and if Cat gets back on the beam, we have a shot. If they revert to cold shooting, the team won’t have a shot, but I’ll have many.

Scratch my last post. He is cleared for 5 on 0 practice – no defense.

So he would fit right in.

    Sorry I couldn’t resist

Haha. I was really close to saying the same thing.

I watched Henderson in the preseason exhibition game against no name opposition in person which was more telling than his seven minute regular season…

    The answer is No.

Yep, he was not very good in that game. I guess I would caution though that Trevor Lacey was awful in his exhibition game against Queens last year. If that had of been Trevor’s body of work, we’d all be wondering why all the hype. I honestly think in both cases it was nerves and simply trying too hard. It was their 1st real game action in a year and a half, and they wanted to show the fans what they can do. It’s more pronounced in Terry’s case since he’s a hometown guy. He was just pressing. I even saw it in his 7 short minutes against W&M. I hate that we didn’t get to see his real game. He is a perfect fit for this offense.

Just one final thing on Henderson. If he does come back, I wouldn’t expect much. He has now played one exhibition game plus 7 minutes over the past two years. He will be likely be out of shape and a step behind everyone. It’s becoming less and less reasonable to even have him got out there at all this year.

I truly dont get where people are thinking Henderson is some sort of savior for the program or team. All the things that were coming out before he got hurt was that he was just a spot up jump shooter with shaky defense that will just play a role in the offense. Now he is all of a sudden some guy who is going to score 20 a night and excels at defense and drives the lane.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where the hell are you getting this? I’m in the Henderson’s no savior camp, but your assessment of his game clearly shows you know nothing about it. “Spot up jump shooter”. Not even close. He can do that, but his strength is putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot. “Shaky defense”. Bob Huggins who knows a little bit about playing defense has lauded Henederson on his defense while playing at WVU. It’s one of his strengths.

I agree he’s not a program changer, but come on, don’t just throw stuff out there.

I just saw a tweet that Dennis Smith has been medically cleared and can begin 5 on 5 practice. However, still no plans for him to play this season. I can only imagine how tempting it would be though for him to suit up in the ACC tournament. Throw in Terry Henderson and we would have an actual team. Ah well, nice to dream.

At least nobody got hurt for the year in the top half of the 1st inning. (knock on wood)

    +1 redisgood: how ’bout this?
pick ONE place. i choose Greece.
    if i had the money
    and she had the time.

Greece is a good choice. I spent a month on one of the islands. It was unbelievable, although the ouzo was lethal. But my choice would be any small town in Italy. I love the people, and love the food. The wine isn’t too shabby either.

^ That’s a great way to do it. My job takes me all over the world, but I’m never in one place more than a few weeks at a time. I’ve come close to putting down stakes for a few years in other countries, but I’ve just never pulled the trigger.

My apologies in advance for taking a very minor detour from this wonderful topic, but PackerInRussia, I’ve always been curious. Are you really in Russia, and if yes, how did you end up there? I know a lot of Pack fans feel like they are in Siberia, but only in a figurative sense.

Great topic by the way. I cannot wait for the season to get started.

BassPacker, the NCAA allows players to have 5 years to play 4. They will rarely allow someone 6 years to play 4 if the 2 additional years were lost due to circumstances outside the control of the player or the university, eg., two years lost due to injury. Also, they do not consider losing a year due to the player having to sit out for a transfer as being outside the player’s control, ie. it was the player’s choice to transfer.

A big difference between Henderson and Jefferson is Henderson has already used up his extra year, Jefferson has not.

As good as Cat is, he’s going to have his hands full going up against Malcom Brogdon. 20 points would be a huge accomplishment. Hopefully some of the other guys can pick up the scoring slack.

HMMMMM……I’m tempted to put $10 on the over.

I hope you’re right. I think its on the main ESPN station, so that would put another POY notch in Cat’s belt.

It’s a natural tendency to look at Cat’s offense, but hopefully the NBA guys are also watching his defense. I know he’ll be going up against bigger guards every night, but I’ve seen him do that here. I haven’t seen one guy he couldn’t guard this year. And that’s while playing 40 minutes, handling the ball all game, and carrying the load offensively. What he’s doing is just incredible.
