An interesting article that has some good points and some information I hadn’t realized.

redisgoodParticipantDoes anyone know if he can play defense?

If he can I’m sure MG will fix that before he sees the court.
Unfortunately defense is the weakest part of his game. Not saying he’s poor defensively, but it is an area that needs some work. He has good athleticism, and hopefully he can and will improve in that area. On a side note, he is good freinds with TJ, and I would bet TJ had a hand in us getting Henderson.

redisgoodParticipantMy choices.
Hockey: Danny Gallivan
Baseball: Ernie Harwell
Football: Ray Scott
Basketball: Marv Albert
Golf: Chris Berman(joke) Peter Alliss
redisgoodParticipantAfter 3 years, the current roster consists of seven 4 stars, two 3 stars (Freeman and Turner), and one Juco All American. I think the man can recruit. And I agree, we really need to get another PG. I’ll be holding my breath every time Cat drives into the lane.
redisgoodParticipantI echo Mike’s comment. This can be a fairly toxic subject, and everyone is discussing it rationally and without emotion. I’m enjoying reading the different points of view. There are a few I had not even considered.
redisgoodParticipantThe fat lady is warming up. I’m pretty sure we will know before Monday, and possibly by the end of today. I think we already know, this will just make it official.
redisgoodParticipantSo much for the senior point guard. Tharpe just announced he is transferring. Well, that should seal the deal.
redisgoodParticipantThe chance of playing time would be roughly equal between the two schools. Both have established starters, and KU also has a sophomore. Probably a better chance at PT here short-term, but KU fans complain none of their guards are true PGs.

You gotta break it down to build it back up. There’s no harder worker out there, and I feel pretty good we’re going to see some results from that hard work this year. Moreso next year when all the young guys have a year under their belts.
redisgoodParticipantTurner to Texas. That was not at all helpful to us.
redisgoodParticipantIt may hinge on Myles Turner’s decision this afternoon. KU has one scholarship left, and it is Turner’s if he wants it. It is down to them and Texas, and I believe Texas is the odds on favorite.
redisgoodParticipantIf we get Devonte, and it is looking very good for us right now, our recruiting class will end up around #8. And that doesn’t include a former 5 star in Trevor Lacey.
redisgoodParticipantWell, they could have called us UNC State.
04/21/2014 at 4:50 PM in reply to: Torian Graham sighting! More people will read this article than will see him play. #51334redisgoodParticipantDefinitely had a tough life. Living out of a car as a kid with his brother and drug addict mother. Mother eventually passing away from her addictions. I can’t even imagine a life like that. It’s amazing he has accomplished what he has so far. I’m pulling for the guy.
04/17/2014 at 2:44 PM in reply to: Gottfried’s Wolfpack will have work cut out for them next year #51252redisgoodParticipantDez, Cat, Turner, and Lacey are all decent (above 70%) free throw shooters. Our bigs need to improve dramatically next year in that area. They are going to be more involved in the offense, and will get to the line more. Last year these four were 104 / 227, or a horrific 46%. That group needs to collectively be 65% at a minimum, or it will cost us some winnable close games.
redisgoodParticipantRodney Purvis and Tyler Lewis are probably not our two best recruiting weapons.
04/16/2014 at 8:35 PM in reply to: Gottfried’s Wolfpack will have work cut out for them next year #51226redisgoodParticipantUnfortunately Lacey won’t add much defensively. He’s a decent offensive player, but he’s not overly athletic and has average foot speed at best. In fairness it’s been a while since I’ve seen him play, so maybe he’s gotten better.
04/16/2014 at 4:07 PM in reply to: Gottfried’s Wolfpack will have work cut out for them next year #51210redisgoodParticipantRick, I don’t see your comments as negative or pessimistic at all. Rather than endless rants about how bad we will be and how the program is going down the drain, you laid out logically what most of us are thinking. Personally, I feel we will do pretty well, but we could also go into the tank for the reasons you mentioned. So much is riding on Cat’s shoulders. I’m probably stating the obvious, but if he doesn’t have a breakout year we could be in a lot of trouble.
redisgoodParticipantIf you get a chance, watch some film on Graham. Fast, good ball handler, great passer with excellent court vision , and a really nice stroke from outside. A great attitude as well. He’s just one of those kids that really developed over the course of a year. We will be very fortunate if we can land the guy. That will also keep Lacey where he should be, at the 2.
redisgoodParticipantDifferent points of view, healthy disagreements, heated debates – all good. But this guy is staining an otherwise terrific site.
04/15/2014 at 12:21 PM in reply to: Gottfried’s Wolfpack will have work cut out for them next year #51156redisgoodParticipantI honestly don’t know how good or bad we will be next year. I am encouraged that we will have a lineup that is talented and 10 deep. Even moreso if we get Devonte. Solid guards, solid wing players, and solid big men. 7 of the 10 will have at least one year of experience under their belt, and from what I can tell, all ten are willing to play their asses off night in and night out.
Like Alpha says, we will know more once we see an actual schedule, and also once the NBA declaration deadline passes later this month.
Whatever opinions there are of Gott, he has built a talented, deep roster for next year. A 2nd PG and a true center would be nice to have, but even without those we appear to be well positioned for the coming season.
04/14/2014 at 8:14 PM in reply to: Gottfried’s Wolfpack will have work cut out for them next year #51139redisgoodParticipant-
I guess that just goes to show even good peeps can spawn whiny bitches.
redisgoodParticipantA grand total of 18 players in the 2015 Top 100 class have committed so far. Yep, Gott is really screwing the pooch on that one. His recruiting record in his 1st three years has been absolutely abysmal. I know exactly where you’re coming from.
04/09/2014 at 11:19 PM in reply to: TJ Warren declares for NBA draft; future of NC State basketball #51022redisgoodParticipantIt’s more 44’s body of work than a single post. The guy gives new meaning to the word morbid. Point taken, point taken, point taken, point taken, point taken, point taken, point taken. You get the point.
