Yep, definitely appreciate the updates. Having Dave Doeren as our coach, recruiting is infinitely more interesting than with the last guy.

Also enjoy a couple of Ashley Christensen’s places – Poole’s Diner, and Joule’s which has moved up my list recently. (I downloaded the recipe for Poole’s Mac & Cheese, and I have to say I nailed it!)
redisgoodParticipant^ Great write-up Adventuroo. Much appreciated. I am most excited about Abu’s continued development. That guy is going to be a special player.
redisgoodParticipantI’m thinking he’s a lock for us. Last time I was this certain, Amile Jefferson went to Duke.
redisgoodParticipantI think realistically the teams he’s considering are us, WFU, and Duke. From everything I’ve heard, we are looking good on this one.
redisgoodParticipant^^ The Assist / FGM would be a lot better if our bigs converted on their opportunities. I couldn’t even begin to estimate how many times the ball has gone in to Lennard or Beejay for what should be a relatively easy shot, but they either can’t handle the pass or flat out miss the shot. The opening sequence against Wofford was a prime example. Cat gave the ball to Lennard on a silver platter, and he blew the lay up. Forget Hess’ technical foul call, if Freeman makes that chippie we win.Gott has pointed out the lack of production from our bigs, and they definitely do have to improve if this team is going to finish anywhere decent in the ACC.
redisgoodParticipantSomeone posted earlier we are a bad rebounding team? We are 12th in the country in rebounds per game, 22nd in the country in rebound margin, and 2nd in the country in defensive rebounds per game. There are a lot of fair criticisms that can be made about this team right now, but poor rebounding is clearly not one of them. These guys had an off game for sure, but usually Freeman, Washington, Abu, and Anya are rebounding machines.
redisgoodParticipantThanks CD for that insider info. That is good news (for us). I did a search last night, and Doeren was literally on everyone’s top 4 list. This is one time I would be hugely disappointed to see a coach leave. You can easily see what the guy is building here, and it is truly exciting. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed.
redisgoodParticipantFor me, the biggest disappointment of this bowl is the fact it is one of the early games, so the team will only get to use about 9 of their allotted practice sessions (as per the coach).
redisgoodParticipantI was at the game, and while I don’t usually bother with the refs either way, they absolutely ruined it for me tonight. I’m glad we won because otherwise I would have felt completely cheated. I wish something could be done about these guys, but I know that won’t happen.
12/06/2014 at 9:36 AM in reply to: Football Recruiting: Wrapping Up #Pack15 and a quick look at #Pack16 #64248redisgoodParticipantThanks for the write-up. Looks like we’ve got some very good players coming in. I hope we get Hines. He will be perfect in DD’s system.
I’m looking forward to watching Kentavius Street’s development. He came in as a dominant HS player, and hopefully an off-season in the weight room will make him a force as a sophomore next year.
Overall I love the quality of player (talent and character) Doeren is bringing in.
redisgoodParticipantSounds like the rule was written to prevent someone from passing the ball to themselves on an inbound play. Hard to think of another scenario where the guy comes back inbounds and touches the ball before someone else touches it. Maybe that’s why it’s never called.
redisgoodParticipantWP76, thanks for the write up.
Yes, Purdue does play mostly zone. Their bigs are foul prone, so what I hope to see is Cat, Trevor, and Dez bust the zone with dribble penetration, and get their 7 footers to foul. I’m not confident any of our bigs can do the job offensively against these guys without fouling, so in my opinion it is in the hands of the guards, as well as Trevor, Ralston, and Caleb from three point land.
Defensively, BJ and Freeman need to deny the entry pass. Otherwise their 7 footers will score a ton or get fouled. BJ’s M.O. has been to let his man catch the ball and then block his shot. That won’t work tonight.
I’m predicting we will shoot well enough from outside and play good enough defense to win something like 70-60.
redisgoodParticipantThank you BassPacker for “reeling” us back in. I started it with the NFL talk. This really should just be a celebration for a tremendous game against a hated rival. Thank you Jacoby. Well done!
redisgoodParticipantI saw a draft site updated about a week ago that listed JB as the #11 QB prospect for 2015. I’m sure he knows his team will be much stronger next year, and he will be able to improve his stock tremendously by returning.
That was an incredible performance he turned in Saturday. I cannot wait to see what Jacoby and the rest of the team can accomplish next year.
redisgoodParticipantAny chance Jacoby decides to turn pro after this year? I’m thinking he definitely needs another year to work on a few things, and he should show out better with an improved supporting cast.
I’m hearing Shad is thinking about it, but hopefully JB isn’t.
redisgoodParticipantAs I posted yesterday, that game had me very nervous going in. Thankfully their guards, who normally shoot the ball well, were cold in the 1st half. Our perimeter D in that half was terrible.
We have moved up to 14 in ESPN’s RPI ranking, and 16 in cbssports.com.
I have no feel for the Purdue game. First road game, so it’s going to be a tough game no matter what.
redisgoodParticipantI’m expecting us to have a really good season and even win a few games in the NCAAT. However, I’m also preparing for a loss tonight. Boise is the type of team that is going to give us trouble. An experienced, talented backcourt that can shoot lights out with the three ball. We have flirted with a loss the last few games, and while I hope we win tonight, a loss will not surprise me.
redisgoodParticipantAnd in another display of class from the UNC football team, they spray painted their locker room after the Duke game. Fedora has since apologized to Duke. What a bunch of Grade A assholes.
redisgoodParticipantHopefully your recording ends with about three minutes to play. If it doesn’t, make sure you have a stiff drink in your hand.
redisgoodParticipantI know it is ridiculously early, but our RPI after yesterday’s game sits at 29. We have some teams on the horizon who also currently have a very good RPI (Boise 13, WVU 24, Richmond 46). By way of comparison, last year we were sitting at 3-1 with an RPI somewhere in the 90s. Like I said, its crazy early, but where we are is much better than where we have been.
redisgoodParticipantGott said they are similar to Hofstra but with a better inside game. Each game is going to get a little tougher from here on out.
redisgoodParticipant^That is for certain. And our latest recruits are working overtime to reel them in. This is shaping up to be a very highly caliber recruiting class. After 3 years Doeren is well on his way to have a full 4 year roster loaded with good recruits, great depth, and a nice mix of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and red shirts.
redisgoodParticipantYep, it is on ESPN 3. I’m not sure if it will be blacked out in the Raleigh area, but that is unlikely.
redisgoodParticipantKentucky for example played an exhibition game against Pikeville. They did play a second exhibition against Georgetown, but it was Georgetown Kentucky, not the Washington guys.
