I love Lauren Brownlow’s write-ups of the games. Her “this is what a Wolfpack win would look like” GIF is hilarious.

We need some freshmen in this class even if they are projects.

    BTW
any idea if the twins are worried about playing time next year? They will still be behind Lacey and Cat and presumably Henderson.

I have to admit, I’ve wondered about that too. There is plenty of playing time for one of them, but getting it for both may be tricky. And when you’re dealing with twins (eg Wear brothers), it’s usually a package deal.

He’s doing well with those minutes. Against the Cavaliers he came in at the start of the 4th qtr., and the Suns were losing by 26. In the 4th quarter, TJ had 8 points, 5 rebounds, a steal and a block. The Suns ended up losing by 10.

I agree about Cat Barber at least a strong candidate for DPOY, but the ACC and not the press are to blame for this one. For DPOY, the voters were given a drop down menu with just seven names. They had to select from those seven, and there was nowhere for them to write someone else in. It is noteworthy Malcom Brogdon wasn’t on the list of seven either.

I wandered over to Inside Carolina (I did take a shower right after) to see their reaction to the Duke loss. Holy cow! They’ve got guys over their that make our bunch look like Mother Teresas. Roy is past his prime. Can’t coach, can’t recruit, and was an idiot giving K a plaque on their own senior night. I do agree the plaque was kind of ridiculous.

    Sorry, I left out 2011.

    6. Herb Sendek, Arizona State: With the help of James Harden, the Sun Devils were relevant a few years ago. However, Sendek has just one NCAA appearance in his five seasons in Tempe and he’ll need to make some headway after last season’s 12-19 record. The question is whether he has enough talent to get back in the top half of the league this season.

So counting this year, it is now 6 years in a row on the hot seat. That’s impressive!

(He should send James Harden 20% of his salary each year)

The guy might do well on Survivor.

2010: We’ve been holding off on Sendek based on his sterling reputation. But one win in the Pac-10 is plain ugly, and getting blown out at home by its biggest rival doesn’t help Herb’s cause.

    2012: Herb Sendek, Arizona State
Which college basketball coaches are on the hot seat in 2012-13?
Coming off of a 10-21 season with the Sun Devils last year, Sendek caught a tough break when two of his assistants left for positions at other Division-I programs late in the summer, nearly rolling over his entire bench days before classes started at ASU.
On the court, Sendek is losing his top two leading scorers from last year’s team, Trent Lockett, who transferred to Marquette, and Keala King, who was dismissed from the team for “unacceptable conduct.”
The one bright spot for Arizona State will be the addition of electric point guard Jahii Carson, who was ruled academically ineligible last season.

2013: But, even Sendek may be at the end of his run in Tempe.
ASU has gone 22-40 over the last two years, only winning 10 Pac 10 (now Pac 12) games over the last two seasons.
Though the Sun Devils’ have gone 12-2 so far this season, eight of those wins came against teams with a 200+ RPI.
Even in a so-so Pac 12, Sendek’s squad may still struggle to get to 18 victories.
If so, ASU may be ready to start over with a new sideline leader.

    2014: Herb Sendek, Arizona State
The Sun Devils reached the NCAA Tournament last season, losing in the round of 64 to Texas. That should be a good omen for Sendek, but it’s also only his second NCAA appearance in eight seasons at Arizona State. With Jahii Carson gone, Arizona State could tumble down the Pac-12 standings. Arizona State allowed Sendek to rebuild for five seasons to get back after his first trip to the Tourney. Don’t bank on that kind of patience again.

Cat had only 2 assists and 7 turnovers. He rarely has better than a 1 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. As a result, our bigs barely got any passes and non of them had many points. We can’t win consistently without a PG who is not a playmaker. He has the quickness to drive and dish and he is a scoring threat so he can draw the defense to get bigs open. Coach needs to make it one of his top priorities to improve his team play.

Geez. Some people. Here are his stats from the 7 games prior to this one:
    ASST TO
    7 – 1
    4 – 0
    2 – 0
    4 – 2
    4 – 2
    4 – 3
    6 – 3
    31 – 11

Were you watching last night? Did you see Cat’s passes to Abu and Anya that they couldn’t convert? Or his set ups to Turner in the 1st half that Turner couldn’t make?

But don’t let a good gripe get in the way of reality.

I have been analyzing this game in my immense brain all day. Working through match-ups, coaching strategies, referee influences, the impact of fired up whine and cheesers, pre-game warm up routines, type of basketball used, brand of soft drinks the fans consume, and most important, uniform colors. I have worked through all the computations, and am please to inform all the final score will be 78-69, NC State Wolfpack. No need to watch the game, but feel free if you so desire.

Just to change up the MO…

Coach Gott took the team over to the Dome last night for a shoot around…

Maybe that will exorcize some demons, calm some nerves or something … maybe not… can’t hurt…

If would have let somebody know what he was up to…
I’m sure the Ghosts on the South Smoking Porch would have loved to go along with ‘em…

If nothing else maybe it will be a small distraction for the some Holes…

Did Ollie get on Beejay’s shoulders and measure the height of the rim?

    Oh…and KW is transferring.

Whatever…who knows, he may have his best game of the year Tuesday night.

That was a jab aimed at the “whole team is transferring” guy. I do love Kyle’s attitude. Every time I looked over at the bench he was standing and cheering harder than anyone.

I’m guessing your meant Johnny Frasier. He was 119. The impressive thing about him is not the number of offers, but who they came from. Every top SEC and Big Ten school offered. We beat out an unbelievable list of suitors to land him.

As long as Ralston doesn’t throw up 8 or 9 bricks in the 1st half, we should be okay. Those things get us in a hole and the team starts to panic. So I hope he is either hitting or sitting.

I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned, but in the past six games, Cat’s turnovers have been zero, zero, one, zero, zero, two. That’s 3 in 6 games. I will go out on a limb and say three turnovers in six games for a point guard who plays well over 30 minutes a game may be unprecedented in ACC play.

If you hire an AD named Bubba, you should have a pretty good idea what you’re going to get. Like the old Seinfeld joke, if you name your son Jeeves, you’ve pretty much determined what he will be when he grows up.

Wow. People on the internet can post anything. And will. He just got a divorce? When did this happen? Are Gottfried and his wife aware they’re divorced? I guess I’m not a fan of throwing out unsubstantiated crap and hoping it sticks.

Edit: I just went back and looked, and you are the same guy who “heard” from inside the Athletic Department Beejay, Freeman, and Cat are transferring after this year.

    Quite the rumor monger.

You are right about basketball. I started out this season getting excited before each game and really looking forward to them. Now I’m about 25% excitement and 75% dread. Facing Virginia, its more like 99% dread. (I think the fact it’s game day, playing the #2 team in the country, and their is no thread and virtually no discussion of the game speaks volumes about the state of State basketball).

So yep, I’m 100% excited for spring football.

Apparently Douglas has academic issues. Sounds like he won’t make it this year.

In what respect is he under rated?

    Here’s some video of him:

    http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4637082/highlights/185226377

And here’s a good write up about him when he committed to ECU:

    http://bonesville.net/Articles/SammyBatten/Class_of_2015/010815_Batten_Emmanuel-Olenga.htm

Basically he has all the tools, just not enough experience.

I’m sure he will redshirt, then we will have a hell of a player for 4 years.
