Carlos Rodon making it very difficult for the Sox to send him down:
” Carlos Rodon struck out nine in four dazzling innings Wednesday night, making his latest impressive bid to join the White Sox rotation, and Chicago cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
Rodon, the third player selected in last year’s draft, walked none and allowed four singles, throwing 47 strikes in 67 pitches. Rodon has fanned 19 batters this spring, tying for the Cactus League lead, in 12 1/3 innings.
“I’m glad no walks,” he said. “That’s the best part of the day.”
The left-hander faced a lineup that included eight regular starters for the AL champion Royals, no doubt making it difficult for Chicago to send him back to the minors.”
Also reunited with Brett Austin:
“Rodon threw to Brett Austin, his catcher at North Carolina State and Chicago’s fourth-round draft pick last year. “It was fun to throw to Brett again,” Rodon said. “Brett and I have been roommates for two years. Brett and I have been real good friends. Before college, we played together. It was just like old times, like riding a bike throwing to him.”
Maybe they can get some kind of Carlton / McCarver thing going.
redisgoodParticipantDidn’t know where else to put this, but Tyler Harris (remember him?) announced he is transferring from Providence. Gee, what a surprise.
redisgoodParticipantIn other news, Herb Sendek is supposed to meet with the Arizona State AD today to find out if he still has a job.
Herb still hasn’t reached his potential. Next stop, Prairie View A&M.
redisgoodParticipantWe’ve played 35 games so far, and I’ve probably been wrong something like 35 times. So I’m going with Louisville all the way, and you can thank me later.
redisgoodParticipantI started out the season over-estimating these guys, and now I’m under-estimating them. For me that speaks volumes about the job Gott has done. When I look back and see all the different lineups he’s tried, finally finding one that works, the development of guys like Abu, Cat, and Freeman, the game strategy and in-game adjustment he’s made, just fantastic.
24 boards and 24 points combined for Abu and Freeman. I’d say not only is the future very bright, the present is pretty damn shiny as well.
redisgoodParticipantBoy, was I wrong, and never happier about it. This team is growing up before our very eyes. And the guy I’m happiest for is Dez. That guy hung in all year, and finally got to make a huge contribution in the biggest game.
And where is that whiny bitch “Gott can’t coach” guy? It’s ironic how he disappears at moments like this.
redisgoodParticipantObviously hoping for a win, but I’m expecting a fairly lopsided loss. When I watch Villanova, I see Duke X 10. These guys keep whipping the ball around until someone gets open for a 3, and they just don’t miss. When their starters get tired, they bring in a bunch of other guys do the same thing. Just like the Duke game in the ACCT, this could get ugly early. Villanova will keep hitting 3 after 3, then our guys will start to panic and play street ball.
Of course I could be completely wrong, which is why I will be glued to the television at 7:10 tonight.
redisgoodParticipantIt will probably come down to who can offer immediate playing time, and with Cat / Trevor, I’m not sure there are enough minutes there next year. I’d be more confident if he had to sit a year, but he was smart. He obligated the school without the school obligating him. Maybe Gott can pull some Alabama magic.

Found this on the internet. SG, not PG, unless this is a different guy.Not sure I really get going after a 3 star SG at this point.
I think they’re wrong. He’s a point guard. At least that’s what he plays in HS, and I’m pretty sure he’s planning to play it in college.
“Theodore PG Dazon Ingram commits to Alabama over UAB”
“Ingram is a big get for Alabama coach Anthony Grant, and is the third commit in the class of 2015. Last year, he led Theodore with 20 points, 10 rebounds and six assists per game. He was named The Press-Register 2014 Coastal Alabama Player of the Year.
He’s known as a dynamic athletic with good court vision.
“He makes great decisions, sees the whole floor and makes the right play,” Theodore coach Phillip Roebling said. “He knows what to go and when to dish it off to someone ahead who is open. I think he’s better suited as a point guard.”
“Ingram, who some would say is a score-first point guard, is a huge potential piece for any of these programs. With his ability to get to the rim and superior floor skills, he’ll be one to watch for sure in 2015.”
redisgoodParticipantIt has to help somewhat that we’ve already played on this court this year. Played very well on it too!
redisgoodParticipantIf we shut Hornsby down, we’ll be Sailin’….
Hornsby will get his 15-20 points no matter what. LSU begins and ends with Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey. Both are 1st team All SEC players. Leading point getters, rebounders, and shot blockers. One know on them is they are turnover prone, so they will see lots of pressure from our bigs.
They also have a couple guys who can get hot from the 3, and these are the kind of players who kill us sometimes.
redisgoodParticipantYep, I think Trevor will get 1st crack at him, and possibly Dez will get some PT as well.
The LSU team reminds me very much of the Tennessee team we played and beat last year. They had two big bodied projected NBA draft picks in Jarnell Stokes and Jordan McRae. Lennard Freeman had a great game and was a big part of shutting them down. I think Gott & Lutz will have a great game plan for neutralizing LSU’s two big guys.
redisgoodParticipantDoes anybody know what time we play? Or when we find out?
We play after Nova. They play at 6:50, so probably somewhere between 9:30 – 10:00.
redisgoodParticipantWe have the late game Thursday. Villanova goes at 6:50, we play after them.
redisgoodParticipantOne of LSU’s guards is Keith Hornsby. He lit us up for 20+ a few years ago when he played for App State. We needed a late FG to pull that one out. Their two best players are big bruisers who rebound and score. It should be a good challenge for our bigs.
redisgoodParticipantRT gets to play his old team. I hope he lights them up.
redisgoodParticipantAvoided Kentucky. A mild gnawing in my stomach seeing some of the bubble teams who got in. And higher seeds for them than expected. I will breathe much easier when I hear our name called.
redisgoodParticipantI’m going with a 9 seed, and we will be victim #36 for Kentucky.
redisgoodParticipantThat’s great to hear about the Martins. I think they are going to be stars for the Wolfpack before their time is done.
redisgoodParticipantI would put the odds of KW transferring at 90%+. I put the Martins at 50/50. Everyone else transferring or turning pro 0%.
redisgoodParticipantI guess my takeaways were, Cat did develop into a high caliber point guard, Lacey served as a good back up to Cat, the team didn’t fall apart, the new guys did well, the returning bigs showed some good development, and Gott got them back to the tourney. All’s well that ends well.
redisgoodParticipantAlmost a year after the fact, it is fascinating to go back and read the various opinions. BJD, Cowdog, and a few others nailed it pretty good.
redisgoodParticipantI don’t know if it’s pathetic or hilarious to see someone who only comes on this board to comment when things are going bad. I do know that is one sad, sorry ass individual.
redisgoodParticipantThere is a web site called The Bracket Matrix. They compile bracket predictions onto one spreadsheet. Out of 114 brackets, we are on all 114 of them. Parrish is an idiot.
redisgoodParticipantRegarding the twins, it could easily be something like this:
35 mpg – Cat
32 mpg – Lacey
20 mpg – Henderson
19 mpg – Caleb
14 mpg – CodyI think Gott could make that work. Now, if Gott lands a 5* SG (Newman) or SF (Ingram), that would create a true challenge, because no 5* is going to redshirt these days, so you’d have to assume he would get at least 15 mpg as a freshman, maybe more.
Does anyone have a good read on exactly how good Henderson is? Does he deserve more minutes than I threw out here?
Henderson has virtually the same 3 point shooting % as Turner, and they both shoot 80%+ from the free throw line. But the similarity ends there. Turner is a catch and shoot guy, Henderson creates his own shot. Henderson is a good defender, and can rebound and block shots as well. Overall, Henderson is far more athletic.
