JP Tokoto going pro? Has to be a late April Fool’s joke.

Duke’s ranking will depend on whether Tyus Jones returns. If he does, the ranking is probably in the right ballpark. And mark my words, Grayson Allen is going to rise to Top 5 most hated Dookie before he’s done. He is going to be a real pain in the backside the next 3 years. And he’s a dead ringer for that little psycho king from Game of Thrones.

I hate it that Rodon didn’t stick with the big club. I know it wasn’t strictly a baseball decision, but it still stinks. The guy clearly earned a spot this spring. The good news is he will be back up before too long. I’m sure of that.

Gott’s teams have beaten a number of teams with more talent. So either he outcoached them or the talent differential is either overstated or thin enough as to not be all that important.

Are you trying to make 44’s head blow up?

I think that ship has already sailed.

By the way, which 20 teams have more talent? I know there is no way to truly prove it, but I’m genuinely interested in getting an idea of how our roster stacks up talent-wise.

If everyone comes back (still an if at this point), I’m guessing we will be ranked somewhere around #15 preseason. Since we have a mediocre coach, I would extrapolate from that we must be perceived to have top 5 talent.

^The way we handled the cheats and with so much red in the stands, it seemed like a home game, but it really was in Chapel Hill. We should have them at home this year.

Apparently Henderson has impressed in practices during the year. I’m pretty comfortable he will be more than an adequate replacement for Ralston, and maybe a bit of an upgrade. His 3 point shooting was actually better in his freshman year, 40%+, but he was sick in his sophomore year.

    Edit
Sorry, was typing this while BJD was making basically the same comment. But it sounds like we ‘re hearing the same thing.

I don’t get these optimistic fans either. It’s so much more fun being a whiny, miserable SOB.

Louisville is about to be gutted. Blackshear graduating, Harrell and Rozier to the pros, and two more will be transferring. Gill is rumored to be one of them.

I don’t care how good a coach Pitino is, I hope we get them twice next year.

What? It’s only been 7 years. They’ll get it fixed eventually.

Thanks to one and all who had a hand in getting this squad out of weekend #1. Sorry it had to end but enjoyed the progress this team made. The mid season ‘slump’ ended up making the payoff that much better.

No apparent head cases for next year’s edition, so hopefully that means a headstart on a better reprise than the last S16.

    Guarded Optimism.

In addition to no head cases, we have a terrific shooting guard if Trevor stays. Last time around we were figuring Purvis would come in and fill that role. Also, when Painter left, we had zero depth at the 4/5 position. Even if Kyle goes, we are still in better shape there. We don’t have a freshman like TJW, but we do have the Martins. So overall, from a sheer talent and depth perspective, this team is far better positioned than that team.

I listened to Lacey’s answer when asked about next year. I’m convinced now he is definitely coming back. He finished by saying “no surprises” and it seemed to me he was saying coach and him had discussed it before the season, and that was that.

Joe Giglio also said of all the players who potentially could leave, he felt safest about Trevor coming back. He’s usually pretty spot on when it comes to the guys on the team.

This may give us another shot at Eric Davis. We were his 2nd choice behind Texas. That would be an incredible get for us.

Tau, I agree with everything you said except Virginia will probably lose Anderson as well, and that will be a pretty big loss.

Lacey: Me and coach talked about [leaving] before the season. If I was to do anything, I’d make sure he knew first. There’s no surprises.

    Posted on Twitter.
I hope that does not happen.

Yep, that would be a crusher. He’s 23 years old, would be 24 next season. I’d certainly understand if he feels he needs to get on with his life, but that would be a real body blow to the team.

I just listened to the player interviews, and to a man they all talked about coming back and how good the team will be next year. They also mentioned Terry Henderson, and how good he is.

Only five months until football, then basketball. Man, this is going to be fun!

I hope you’re right about the turnovers. Washington and the Martins are my concerns. Kids these days are not very patient with playing time. Next year’s starters are probably already in place with Henderson replacing Turner. Whatever is keeping Washington off the floor needs to be fixed. I still couldn’t believe he didn’t play the last 5 minutes when he was our only scoring threat inside. (and outside too). Good year though. Next year should be better if they stay together…..

Adam Zagoria is reporting that he’s hearing all players will return next year. (Except the seniors of course). That is great news if true. I absolutely cannot wait to see the new Cat and Trevor playing a full year together. Best backcourt in the ACC. And the continued development of Abu is equally exciting. We had a great finish to the season, and I fully believe that will carry into next season.

So Cat was throwing up before the game. Tough luck getting a virus on the biggest night for him. That would explain a lot. Gutty performance nonetheless.

  • I don’t think this was coaching. Cat and Abu were a combined 4-22. That was the difference. A tough learning experience. Hopefully everyone comes back for another run at it next year. Great season.

I’m sure Pitino is going to throw everything he’s got at Cat tonight. Thankfully we have Trevor to account for as well as a ball handler. I have no idea what Pitino will do, but our ability to recognize and adjust to it will be key. For sure Cat is going to get pressured like crazy, and this could lead to lots of easy baskets for us if he can handle it.

We will know in about 6 hours.

And I would love to see that first shot by Ralston go through the net.

I’m thinking of hitting up Amedeos to watch the game. What do you all think a good time to get there would be to get a decent seat? I’m thinking 6:45, but I can easily get there earlier.

From everything I’m hearing, every place is going to fill up pretty early. 6:45 might be too late. Maybe even 5:45. I want to go to Sammy’s, but I think it’s going to fill up even earlier, and I can’t get out of work in time.
