Smart foul there, Kyle.
redcanineParticipantI’m dealing with another kidney stone…
redcanineParticipantWhen I see stats like this: “in games this season where State is up/down by four inside the 3:00 mark, the Wolfpack is 1-6?
…I unfortunately can’t help but think about coaching.
And that’s just THIS season! In those final minutes, how badly have we been outscored? I’m guessing 100-30.
It’s tough to pull out the close ones when most of your starters are trying to avoid fouling out. If we could get to the 4 minute mark with our starters having only 2 fouls a piece, we could win! But we pick up too many cheapies, now the other team is in the double bonus, and we squander the game. I hate allowing a guy to cruise around late in the game because we’re too afraid to play real defense.
redcanineParticipantDon’t fool around with La Costra Nostra Lavin.
redcanineParticipantGood news! Now let’s get Johnny to talk to Brandon Ingram and we’ll be looking good.
DD is moving us up!
redcanineParticipantCarolina doesn’t miss many around the rim.
redcanineParticipantLarranega has taken Shane Larkin and Angel Rodriguez and turned them into excellent point guards. Or maybe he just has a superb eye for talent? Either way, he’s blessed that Miami program.
My only criticism of last night’s game is that we didn’t go to the rack enough. They gave us plenty of space to drive, IMO, by playing us so close. We only attempted 4 free throws. I’m talking about the whole team, not just one or two guys.

I’m sick of those domestic violence commercials where these celebrity actors get all choked up and can’t even get a word out. They’re poorly directed. It doesn’t come off as a candid, caught off guard moment. They’re staring right at the camera for goodness sakes! And these actors… they’re supposed to know the difference, and men should know not to beat on women and children (or anyone else). The message is lost. What’s the point? There’s not even a voice over spot at the end. These commercials do nothing to raise awareness to domestic abuse. Anyone can chop an onion and get a runny nose. The only emotional response I’m having is annoyance, instead of empathy or sympathy. They completely missed the mark, IMO.

redcanineParticipantMartin twins are good and are just going to get better. Love to see their hussle on the court.
Totally. I wasn’t trying to disparage the duo. They have very bright futures. Defensively, I’d rather see them play man so they can use their quickness as an advantage. I do understand why we went to the zone, but it made me very nervous. FSU’s size gave them problems. Two or three more rebounds and its a different story.
redcanineParticipantThe twins were the weak link in our zone today. Most offensive rebounds that FSU got went their way when we were in the zone. With more pt, that should work itself out. I’m not knocking them, just pointing it out. Still, we wouldn’t have won this game without them.
We are improving.
redcanineParticipantCremmins did the Pitt/FSU game the other day. He probably knows more about them than the PACK. He’s not really getting on my nerves yet, but he’s close.
redcanineParticipantTrevor is tired. Worn slam out. We could really use Cat right about now.
Why hasn’t Kyle touched the ball this half?
redcanineParticipantAnyone notice the Russian’s hair? Who does he think he is, Boris Bosworth?
redcanineParticipantNo More Headbands!!!
redcanineParticipantAre we gonna bring our brief case or our lunch box?
redcanineParticipantIMO, Cats only problem is that he can’t make 3 pointers. Hell, he won’t even try em. That’s a confidence thang. There is a certain point where you’re actually hurting your team by not taking wide open shots. I’m only talking 3 or 4 possessions per game, but they still matter. Make or miss, whatever, Cat needs to put it up when he finds himself all alone. Otherwise, I really like his game.
redcanineParticipantWell, Bill, we put all sorts of combinations out there. Some were surprisingly decent. Other than that stretch where UNX had 3 or 4 dunks in a row (busted our zone), we played great. Maybe next time we try to submarine Kennedy Meeks like he did to Trevor. That’s what I’d do. I’d put Meeks on his ass. Forget the drawing board!
Next time, Carolina will play better too. I expect another bloody game.
redcanineParticipantSince UNC doesn’t have many shooters, I’d double-team Meeks. Who’s he gonna kick it out to? Meeks can draw fouls if we play him straight up. We were pretty successful doubling Okafor, with our weak side defense moving well and not allowing as many skip passes, unlike the UVA game.
I wouldn’t put a world of pressure on Paige, at least not in the first half. He does most of his damage in the 2nd half anyway. Just don’t put him on the FT line!
redcanineParticipantSTATE
Remember that Cincinnati loss? Wofford? I hope you haven’t forgotten. If we only give it 99% in practice tomorrow, the same thing will happen Wednesday night. 1% is the difference between winning and getting blown out.Duke
It’s my fault. I didn’t have you prepared enough to win. It won’t happen again.UNC
Back in 19XX, their fans in Reynolds would spit and throw coca-colas at us during the game. When we go there, were going to the basketball equivalent of Iraq. We’re gonna be ready to fight, and keep fighting until the final buzzer. We’ll worry about championships later. For now, all of our efforts are geared towards beating State!redcanineParticipantShe could never be Royals. It don’t run in her blood!
redcanineParticipantHe had a promising freshman year and a lot of drops this year. I think the basic ability is there.
This is true. He dropped too many passes this year. He looked better as a freshman.
redcanineParticipantI think Cat is pretty good from the elbow, especially when he drives left and pulls up, step back from around the free throw line. He converts on that shot, and that shot is usually available.
How many wideass open shots should we pass up on each possession? I think most teams are lucky to even get one, so why shouldn’t Cat pull the trigger when he’s got a clear view?
IMO, once the point guard makes that initial pass, he becomes a shooting guard. He’s off the hook, to an extent, in the high-post offense, and can now shoot if he gets it back. If he has a scorer wide open, of course he gives it up again.
redcanineParticipantI don’t get the Cat disses. If we have two players on the court who cannot score (interior players), our point guard should, IMO, take shots. It’s not wrong for him to take 10 or more shots on this team, given our overall lack of scoring ability. He only attempted 6 shots last night, so he’s definitely looking to pass the ball. If there’s any knock on his game, it’s that he’s a poor 3 point shooter. He passes up at least 4 or 5 wide open looks each game. Those possessions are likely to end up as turnovers. Marcus Paige would average 20ppg for this team!
Cat is sorta stuck in the middle right now: won’t pass it inside because we can’t catch the ball, & won’t pull the trigger when he’s wide open. He needs to take those wide open looks.
