Randy Gupton considers himself a "recovering broadcast journalist." While he was an addict, Randy got his fix as a News Anchor and Reporter for Raleigh, North Carolina's 680-WPTF. He covered the movers and shakers of North Carolina's Capital, the region, nation and world. Anchoring continuing LIVE coverage of the 9/11 attacks, EXCLUSIVE one-on-one interviews with then Governor Mike Easley, as well as interviews with other movers and shakers in state government proved to be some of the highlights of his young career. In addition, he covered Hurricane Floyd in 1999 for stations in Canada. A fan of CBS News, Randy had the luxury of performing stringer work for the venerable radio network while at WPTF. While the stories he covered varied, his favorite work has always been BREAKING NEWS. In a late 2001 promotion dubbed 'The People of WPTF News,' he summed up his love of journalism and broadcasting: "I like news because of the intensity. I like news because of the drive. When news breaks, when a story breaks, we have an opportunity to tell people -- right then and there -- about it. That drives and motivates me everyday. And I can't wait to tell people about it." After four years in the WPTF Newsroom, Gupton accepted a new challenge as the Human Resources Director for Curtis Media Group, WPTF's parent company. After a year in the executive suite, Gupton left to join Lowe's Companies, Incorporated as a Human Resources Manager. Happily Married for 13 years (and together 19), he resides in the Mayberry-esque town of Wake Forest, NC with his wife, Hannah, and their three children.
