It was certainly a horrible way to end the season (and to spend an evening), but I still really like this team and appreciate the attitude and growth we’ve seen during the season. To put things in perspective, they exceeded preseason expectations, and really, barring a miracle, we were going to suffer a loss at some point in the coming days or weeks. It just came one game earlier than most of us expected and in a more painful fashion. I do wonder if some of the guys were under the weather; after all, Cat had the flu just two days earlier and they’ve all been cooped up on airplanes together this week.
Now, on to the women’s game tonight against BYU.
68-58 State with 3:49 left. We’re definitely missing Gatling. The knee gods certainly aren’t happy with us.
State up by 13 at the under-8 TO, but Gatling has been taken to the locker room with a knee injury after scoring career-high 28 pts (if I heard correctly).
State up by three with 12:21 left. They lost power at the Coliseum briefly (happened last night, too), and it takes 20 minutes for the lights to come back up entirely. So, we have a nice long break now, right as State got the momentum back. (sigh)
Game tied 14-14 with 11:12 left in the first half. State led the entire time so far until Syracuse tied it up a minute or so ago.
Thrilled to see Coach Moore named COY! I’m looking forward to watching the game Friday (and, with any luck, Saturday and Sunday). We’ve lost a couple of key players to injury; hopefully some others will rise to the opportunity.
It’s quite satisfying to see us seeded higher than *NC, too!
