Prowling WoofieParticipant
Welcome Mr. Johnson !!
Glad to have you runnin’ with the Pack.
Got any four- or five-star buddies ????
Prowling WoofieParticipantEmmert doesn’t have the balls to take this to its full conclusion. Whitewash, Part V.
Prowling WoofieParticipantSergeant Schultz will be in charge of the investigation…
All show and no action, wait and see –
Prowling WoofieParticipantWould be surprised to see Atlanta take a chance with The Gargoyle, considering Marvin was basically a washout for them (and recently picked as one of the Top 20 Worst Draft Picks of all time). Over-hyped Carolina underclassmen and all….
Prowling WoofieParticipantWhen’s football season start ????
Prowling WoofieParticipantBoeheim’s a total douchebag. Never once gave State or Warren any credit for the win tonight – it was all due to Syracuse making mistakes on the offensive end, and Fair wasn’t knocking down the shots he normally makes… Enjoy the trip back to the frozen tundra asswipe !!
Prowling WoofieParticipantLoved Lefty – first followed him at Davidson when we lived in Charlotte. Had those guys playing some top-notch basketball back in the late 60’s before he went to MD. And that ’74 Championship game was the greatest…
Prowling WoofieParticipantSnoop Cat played a good game tonight. He and Lewis combined for 11 assists and ZERO turnovers. We’ll need that kind of efficiency again tomorrow.
Prowling WoofieParticipantWhat stood out to me: Wake is tough at home.
Especially when allowed to travel…
Prowling WoofieParticipantHey, I know it was only BC, but that was a magnificent performance by Warren last night. Just magnificent.
We’re gonna miss him…
Prowling WoofieParticipantMoore named Coach of the Year….

Well deserved, Coach !
Prowling WoofieParticipantI don’t know any of the Pitt players, but two of them will have career games tonight.
Book it !!!
Prowling WoofieParticipantDoesn’t matter – we lost to Central…
Just think about that.
Prowling WoofieParticipantI was hoping the guys could keep the final margin below 20 last night. Boy, did they ! Great effort, and great crowd support. Very little blue seen in the PNC last night. Warren is the best since Googs, no doubt.
Disappointing to come so close (again) and fall short, but until this team/program learns to do the little things that separate good from mediocre, we’ll stay mediocre.
This one’s on the coaching. The players played well enough to earn a 5-8 point cushion most of the way. The coaches should be able to come up with a game plan to maintain that, including switching defenders on a hot player when your guy is getting lit up like a damned Christmas tree ! Teach two or three in-bounds plays that DON’T involve throwing the ball into the corner. Geez….
Prowling WoofieParticipantSurprise me, Pack – keep it under 20.
Prowling WoofieParticipantTwo FTs in the first half by the Pack.
Lee and Turner should be mandated to drive or pass in the second – no more clanging 3’s.
This VT team is awful, and we’re only up 10, because we’ve taken 15 3-pointers against a team with no rim protector !
Prowling WoofieParticipantClemson outscored State by 4 from the floor, by 13 from the FT line.
State: 19 fouls, Clemson 26 FTs
Clemson: 18 fouls, State 14 FTsThey won’t win games unless they attack the basket. They cannot shoot the ball from the arc, from the mid-range, or from the line, but by drawing fouls it MAY affect the defense played by the opponent.
Not that it matters….this season is toast. UNX wins by 30 in our place, and a Wednesday loss in the ACCT is the finale.
Prowling WoofieParticipantHaven’t looked at the box score (too depressing) but was in attendance at the butt-whipping today, and I think we got a whopping five points from the quartet of Vandy, Anya, Washington, and Freeman. Warren scored 21, but could’ve had 40 had he not disappeared (again) for stretches of the game. He had absolutely no help today from his front-court mates. None. Allowing the Holes 3-4 shots every trip down was humiliating. If they can’t score, they should at least be able to block out and rebound, for Pete’s sake !
Our only offensive play today was the weave up top until Des drove it down the lane. Got away with it a few times, but then Roy clogged the top of the key to take that away.
Youth, schmooth. It’s February. What the heck are our coaches doing every day ? There doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of teaching/learning going on.
Prowling WoofieParticipantGreat write-up –
Congrats to Coach Moore and the Lady Wolfpack ! Glad they (like the men) could send Maryland off to the Big ?? with a loss in their final conference visit to Raleigh.
Prowling WoofieParticipantFun game to watch – this team is winning me over.
Warren needs to plug his ears Saturday – UNX will be trash-talking and roughing him up after tonight’s ‘loss of cool’ at the end. They’ve got numerous bodies to throw at him, and our guys need him on the court, or at least available. He’s almost as crucial as a decoy as he is a scorer.
Hope Lewis is encouraged with his play and playing time. The combination of Barber and Lewis at point, or even sharing time on the floor, is very effective, and will continue to be so… They just need to figure out who’s the 1 and who’s the 2 when they’re out there together – saw them cutting to the same spot a couple of times during half court sets !
Prowling WoofieParticipantGreat breakdown, VaWolf.
Appreciate the time taken to pull this together.
And yes, BJD – it does add a certain amount of pressure to win the games against the lesser opponents from here on out. The TN win will look very good at season’s end…
Saturday will be key – we don’t HAVE to win, but we CAN’T get decimated over there.
Prowling WoofieParticipantIf Luckie holds form, all our bigs will be saddled with two fouls early in the first half, so FSU will build an insurmountable lead by halftime. We’ll chip away at it, but ultimately our inability to make FT’s will prevent us from making a serious charge…
Prowling WoofieParticipantTyler and Vandy saved the day today…
Good contributions by several players.
Gotta rebound better the next two games – FSU and UNX
Prowling WoofieParticipantTBK Returns – I know of one player who has decided not to return. It was his decision – he weighed the time involved against probable playing time and the unlikelihood that the NFL was in his future – and he opted to concentrate on finishing his degree. There are probably others who have made the same call, based on the likelihood of decreased or minimal playing time.
I don’t think that’s an underhanded or shady reality – as long as it’s not a common (year after year) practice. If the talent level is increasing due to the recruiting of the new staff, and the coaching staff is honest with the players, transition is going to mean guys have to choose whether the 40+ hours/week involved is worth it. I’m guessing a few already have decided it’s not.
Prowling WoofieParticipant1) Glad to see AD Yow responding personally and proficiently. At least you didn’t have to wait two weeks for an Uncle Jed form letter…
2) Would like to see OOC SOS improve, but not until the roster can justify it. Given last year’s misery, this schedule – as a season ticket holder – gets a pass from me. I love the home game atmosphere, tailgating with friends, baking on the sunny side, and I’d love to see a victory.
3) The Atlantic Division is so friggin’ brutal, until we can elevate our recruiting levels, we need wins from somewhere. Get a couple of Doeren classes under our belt, see what he can do with them, and upgrade the schedule when appropriate.
I think in the short term, wins and bowl games (even Weiner Bowls) will sell better in living rooms (both fans’ and recruits’) than hopeless slaughters against the Big Boys.
