PrimewolfParticipant
We live and die with the heave. A couple of token passes early in the shot clock followed by a guard holding it for a final one on one heave. That approaches assures few offensive rebounds.
PrimewolfParticipantWorst 7 min of coaching I have ever seen.
Gott does no substitutions when our guys can’t run down the court anymore. Calls multiple timeouts and then realizes he needs to sub—after he sends the same 5 guys back in there.
Imbecilic. We continue to run the same sets in the second half with no success at all. Not sure. What to say about his decision making.
PrimewolfParticipantBoth
PrimewolfParticipantPup, that is one ???? Poll. I don’t know what to make of your propositions, but it seems obvious to me Gott is not a great leader or coach. I really don’t see any real chance of reasonable success during his tenure. The team is lost, getting worse. It is tough getting out prepared and coached every game. Is this not Gotts 4th year?? Why waste a few more years on this. If Gott had shown any improvement in fundamentals or you could see a tiny trend up, my position would be different. I am tired of relying on the 3 pt heave as our strategy because we can’t work the ball enough to produce a good 3 pt shot. However, I suspect he will have a few more years to prove me wrong.
PrimewolfParticipantGott to move on, Debbie.
I can’t watch another year of this. Gott is totally out of his league. Guys are not born to play defense or not, they are taught!!!!
Further, they are taught to move on offense and be in position for rebounds.
I feel like I did at the end of many an NCSU coaching era, it can’t come soon enough. Whatever we save by not firing Gott this year will cost us 10 fold as this thing progressively gets worse over another year.
PrimewolfParticipantAnother weak start.
Does Ralston fall down on every shot, or does it just seem that way.
PrimewolfParticipantSomeone send Haschua that photo.
PrimewolfParticipantLucky win, but we deserved it.
My view is that G is just not that good a coach. Good recruiter, yes. The patterns are the same in just about every game. We have some serious talent issues too. But G, IMO, isn’t up to it. I have lost faith and interest. It is so obvious that he is among the the bottom fourth of coaches in the ACC. Just like watching Sid, or OCain, or herb coach in the last year or two of their tenures. You knew it had plateaued and/or was sinking.
Our players really don’t know how to play team defense. They don’t know how to be in position on either end of the court. Our offense is painful to watch. I do not buy into the concept that our players are stupid. G has not grown as a coach. He is either too cocky or dumb to progress. He never talks to the assistants at timeouts. We struggle in so many basic BB areas, you can see the coaching issues dominate this team. Would love to see him be successful, but can’t see
Yes, we can be mid third ACC team with G. But, he will never compete with any of the top 6 coaches in the conf.
PrimewolfParticipantGott needs more than big talent to win. He ain’t a great coach, not even a good coach. Not a smart coach. You have seen the plateau of Gott. I hope we have the guts to pull the trigger. Our players deserve more.
PrimewolfParticipantLet’s see. No defense, check. One on one offense, check.
I just don’t like Gott ball, all you Gotters
I do think we have had more talent then Clemson, like forever.
Must be just an off night thus far.
PrimewolfParticipantI say let Whit coach the end of the game if it comes to it. Gott don’t got it.
PrimewolfParticipantWith this much optimism, keep your money in your wallet.
I would like to see Gott be successful. But,,, I don’t see him as a detailed guy.
Go pack!
PrimewolfParticipantGreat work bsim. What are you majoring in? This is from a Wolfpack engineer.
Do you think the coaching staff has the smarts to take us beyond 4-5 ACC wins a year? I like the recruiting, but have been somewhat negative on the staff strategies. Hope I am wrong.

Carl Petterson is a different story, however.
PrimewolfParticipantWhen is someone going to put together the statistics that show the referee bias. We need to install 20 or so camera devices that cover every angle of the court and allow objective analysis of every foul called. Publish the system and produce the stats. Dynamically so as to show timing of critical calls and game situation
The data would be compelling at some point. Patent and sell the system.
PrimewolfParticipantGotts offense sucks. Why, why, what in the he)) is that offense? One guy dribbles around in a predictable pattern with the others mostly standing around until someone tries to rescue the dribbler.
don’t get me going on defense.
Gott is not 1/10 the coach of olroy, the cheater.
Once in a while we beat a dook or somebody, but I just don’t see how we can beat well coached teams other than when the strs line up.
PrimewolfParticipantUnx game will say a lot about this team and Gott. Will we play defense? Will we have the same desire and determination to win? For me, it won’t be as much about whether or not we win, but how we play/execute and the toughness we bring.
PrimewolfParticipantSeaWolf, I had a 28ft pursuit at MC, which we named “SeaWolf”. Script letters red with grey edge. Was truly beautiful. Later got a 32 ft boat and found out larger wasn’t necessarily better.
12/30/2014 at 9:14 PM in reply to: Bad defense. Bad offense. Bad. State lays egg, loses 76-60 #67475PrimewolfParticipantWhy is anyone surprised? Good grief!
Gott has been getting his own recruits now for a few years. He is in total control. We will most likely lay big goobers for his coaching tenure.
Get used to it. Call me in a few years when he has moved on to greener, but more flacid pastures.
PrimewolfParticipantBill, thanks for the effort. I am not sure what I am seeming in terms of offense. I just don’t like it. A lot of standing around. A lot of dribbling. Whatever you want to call it
My view is that you can immediately see a well coached team. Other teams in the ACC and lesser opponents actually run an offense that works. We have good enough talent to be better. I don’t think Gott or anyone on his staff is very analytical or can develop players much.
Hope I am wrong. don’t see us ever getting out of the middle of the ACC with current approaches.
Do you think we are getting better on defense? Would love to see that.
PrimewolfParticipantOur young guys will get better, however, our coaching has plateaued.
My only problem with Gott ball is the high post offense and the generally nonexistent defense, that’s all.
12/04/2014 at 10:25 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64184PrimewolfParticipantThat was quite a performance Saturday. I like the way recruiting is going. Not convinced these coaches are even middling at this point. Let see if we beat a
decent team over the next before we saint this mediocre group.PrimewolfParticipantThings I hate to watch:
1. Cat dribbling around for 15 sec with no passes and no one else moving.
2. The high post offense
3. Turner trying to play defense with reach in fouls. Isn’t he a senior???
4. Our total ineptitude attacking a zone, any zone.
5. Our poor position for offensive rebounds.
6. Cat trying to decide if he should shoot the ball
7. Cat shooting free throws
8. Weak defensive fundamentals
9. ….I don’t see how we win 8 ACC games this year. Play the Martins, for crying out loud.
PrimewolfParticipantCan a QB really improve his deep ball??? It is like me trying to improve my drive after years and years of effort and lessons. Have gotten better but still inconsistent.
Of course it could be mechanical or some slight injury that has persisted during the season.
His other problem is taking too long to make a decision. He then tries to avid the sack, but it is too late.
PrimewolfParticipantIt’s about time to break out the 18 yr old Elijah Craig. Sweet.
