I hope someone from the Wolfpack organization reads this. I think it speaks for all of us. While we are all depressed at the loss, I think we can see movement in the right direction and feel like our program is in good hands, and there is reason for optimism.

Alpha – Nice art work! I swear that reminds me of the pool at a Hyatt in Hartford I’ve stayed at many times. Sadly, I’m the best looking person I’ve ever seen there.

Gott seems to have been consistent from day 1 on scheduling and recruiting, since then he seems to be improving in other areas. I know I’m not the only person surprised that this team keeps getting kudos for defense.

    Thank you Ms Yow.

This is the right team, the right coach, and the right moment.

Goosebumps! That there, my friend, is well written.

I’ll admit to being in the “just make it to the second weekend” group. If you lose in the first weekend – either ‘first four’, round of 64, or round of 32 – everyone just says you “made the tournament.” And that is very nice. There are roughly 300 (?) teams that would love to be in that designation.

But if you make the second weekend, as the author noted, you are included in a much more select designation – S16, E8, F4, Finals, or won it all. That’s worth so much more in prestige – recruiting, TV time slots, chest thumping, etc.

Now, I want to see the Tobacco Road Final Four. (the Triangle plus whoever) It is probably ‘struck by lightening’ unlikely, but that would be one of the great moments in college basketball history as far as I am concerned.

It’s a great week in the Triangle. We need to enjoy it, you never know when this sort of thing will happen again.

For my whole life, we true believers have been saying that the best basketball is played right here. It is great to see it on the national stage and getting the recognition it deserves.

^ Oh my word – so Duke v UNC on Saturday, and we’d potentially play UNC on Monday? I cannot imagine what this area would be like if that all happened. Blood would be shed.

Obama invited this stuff when he decided to very publicly post his picks for the NCAA tournament. Our players just won one of the toughest, most important games of the year and were giddy with excitement – yea, I have no problem with Cat’s comments.

What a game! Incredible defensive effort!!
Most coaches shorten the bench at tourney time, Gott back to playing nine.
So happy for the bigs – playing so well!
As Gott said in the post game, they guarded RT really well.
    Dez was huge.

Best game in can remember in a looking time.

    Great season!!!!!!!!

Wufpup got it exactly right with this one sentence …

As we all know, so many of the Pack’s results this season have been due to what happens between the ears and not so much because of a talent deficit.

It’s going to be all about how we respond when we get down 10+ early and get frustrated by their defense.

And really, please do understand the “group therapy” aspect of game threads. For many of us, we just need to get it all out, and yelling at the teevee box only gets you so far.

Thanks for pointing that out BJD & Rick. I am very guilty of giving up multiple times in some games and threatening to kill Refs, opposing players, our players, and our coaches. So far, I have neither given up on the Pack (for more than a day) nor killed anyone (so far as you know).

It’s an emotional game and the Pack makes it really hard to watch sometimes. So we vent. But that ember of hope never completely burns out until the clock runs out on that last game of the season. And then a day later, I’m dreaming of the next season.

“Quarterman did a real good job on Lacey. He got it to me and I thought it was time for me to shoot. Trevor asked for it back, but he had his turn. It was my turn to shoot.”

Somebody print a T Shirt!!! This is one of the great quotes in Pack history, right up there with the many, many pearls V left us with.

I listened to the interview and couldn’t believe my ears. So funny!!

I look forward to the next couple of years of his post game comments.

Since Julius left, I haven’t really had expectations of an extended run. And this year is no exception. Just looking at the seedings and assuming all win (who knows?), we’d have an extremely difficult path. Three #1 seeds and a #2.

    #1 seed Nova
    #4 Louisville
    #2 UVA
    #1 DU
    #1 UK

So, in my mind, the best thing that could realistically happen is that we pull off a miracle and get to the second weekend. That gives the team, and the rest of us, double the time to enjoy participating in the NCAAT. That is a great reward for a pretty good season. That’s my hope for our team.

    GO PACK!

Man, what a joy watching all those videos. THANK YOU!

Like someone else said, glad there was no video on me because my reaction mirrored the clip of the students. Holding my breath standing two feet from my TV, then exploding like a crazy person. Dancing and yelling around the living room. Took a couple of hours to get to sleep.

The best part to me was the way we won it. LSU played great defense on us all night. They clearly game planned well for us; took away the three point shot pretty much the whole game, they put Quarterman – a tall, physical defender – on Trevor which is the way to shut him down – just like Tokato in the first UNC game, and they never gave RT any room to breath at all. The bigs scored 30 points (of 66), 18 boards, 3 assists and 2 blocks. (LSU’s M&Ms pulled 25 boards, we’ve got a lot of room for improvement there) But our team rebounding was great, especially in the second half, they only out rebounded us by 2 overall but were ahead by 10 at the half.

But, as I said previously, Nova is our Houston this year. “When elephants dance ….”

^ Yea, I get that. But it’s still kind of fun to see the teams we beat progress. And that would have been the first NCAAT win ever for Boise State. That would have been fun. However, Boise State is unlikely to win it all now. LOL.

Truly the Greatest Show on Earth. At least at my house. And this is the greatest weekend in sports. At least in my house.

That Dayton / Boise State game last night was a ton of fun. And I think it proved the value of the home court. The game was played in Dayton. But it was still very well played. I was kind of rooting for Archie, but also kind of rooting for BS because we beat them. So didn’t really care. Just enjoyed good basketball.

Oliver is brilliant, wish he’d tone down the language a little.

But a great review of the continuing hypocrisy of the NCAA. Wonder how much of this ridicule they can take before something positive happens?

I totally agree that the Pack at its best can play with these guys – however, LSU is really going to be tough. It will be their strength (bigs) against our weakness. If our guards are hitting from outside, we’re going to be okay. But that could be said for every game we play.

So game one is going to be very tough, and probably close. And if we win, our guys will have a tough time getting up for the second game.

If we do get through that one, Villanova is a monster. They are the team we all wish we had – They have six guys averaging at least 9.2 PPG, no one averaging above 14. Those six guys are all Juniors and Seniors. The starting guards are 6/5 and 6/6. 32 wins, no losses out of conference. Really, really good team.

Excited to be in the tourney for the 4th straight year, but not sure our youngsters are going to be ready to play their best on Thursday AND Saturday.

C’mon guys, surprise me!!!!!!!!!! GO PACK!!!

LSU took Kentucky to the wire, lost by two. Came closer than anyone else to beating them all season. Gonna be a handful.

Welp, that was a nightmare. As well as we played in the first Duke game, we played equally poorly last night.

I was encouraged to see that Gott was able to get them refocused and playing much better in the second. We actually out scored them by a little in the second. But it’s hard to imagine anyone coming back from 27 down on a Coach K team. And they still shot over 50% in both halves.

Obviously, without Cat, we have a big problem – so hopefully this break will give him time to recover.

Sadly, whoever we play in the NCAAT will go right to the tape from this game for the formula to beat us to death. I would expect to see that pressure again.

I’m confident that Cat will play well, but I think we’ll need RT and/or TL to shoot really well tonight.
Last Duke game our bigs got 20 RB & 35 PTS, I think we’ll need all of that again. When’s the last time we did that? Last night by comparison we played really well, and they got 13 RB and 21 PTS.

In the post game last night, one of the players said the team likes the Adidas postseason Unis. That’s good enough for me. (but I wouldn’t wear them – that red band across the middle is just awkward)

In my opinion, they are going to have as much trouble with Cat as we are going to have with Big O. We’ll get in foul trouble inside, hopefully they’ll have similar issues outside. If it works out like that, and we can keep it close, I like our chances to pull off an upset.

However, my fear is that we won’t be able to keep up offensively. We had to shoot 62.5% from 3PT, and 55% overall last game. Plus, we got 10 blocked shots. They shot 25% from 3PT and 36.9% overall. We’re not likely to be able to reproduce that level of offense or hold them to that poor level of shooting.
