pakfanistanParticipant
I’ve got to make it to a ladies game, they definitely deserve the support.
pakfanistanParticipantNope, sorry pak, the grid is the grid and it’s been around now for over 80 years. ALL service end points (your meter on your house) get’s their power from the grid which is made up of EVERY power generating facility on the grid (it’s how electricity works). Just because you have a nuclear plant in your back yard does not mean you get any more of your power from it than the plant’s total contribution to the grid. In the case of Shearon Harris that amounts to about 0.88% of total load from nuclear power, so you get less than 1% of 19%, or about 0.2% from the plant just down the road.
That still doesn’t change the fact that that’s an argument FOR building up our non-fossil fuel infrastructure.
pakfanistanParticipantfwiw.. pak… that spill was from the sedimatation pond from a old plant that had been CLOSED DOWN for several years….
That’s just evidence that they’re dangerous even after they’ve been shut down.
I bet the problem was regulations were just too stringent for them to keep the waste contained. They spent so much lobbying against the EPA and environmental and regulations there just wasn’t enough left over to actually deal with the waste containment. Government ruins everything.
pakfanistanParticipantSorry pak, wrong again, your power comes from the grid. The grid gets its power from every collective power source in the US of which only 19 percent is nuclear. Almost 70 percent is fossil fuels with coal being the highest at almost 45 percent. Just because you live near a nuclear power plant does not mean your get your power from it. It’s the way the power grid works.
While it’s true that it’s a grid, I’m more than likely drawing most of my power from the nearest station.
And since it’s true we still derive a large portion of our power from fossil fuels, btw, there was a gigantic coal ash spill into the Dan river recently, why don’t we invest in alternative energy sources, like nuclear, hydro, solar, wind, geothermal, hamster, etc., instead of denying that it’s a serious problem?
pakfanistanParticipantpakfanistan my best suggestion to you is to quit using aerosol cans since this has gotten you in such a tizzy
Call the electric company and tell them you want your power turned off because your scared of drowning in the rising seas.
1) Aerosol cans were using cloroflourocarbon propellants, which were wrecking the ozone layer, which allowed greater UV penetration, which is bad for us. CFCs have been phased out anyway, so regardless of the fact that they’re not contributing significantly to climate change, they’re a non-issue.
2) My power comes from nuclear so no risks there.
pakfanistanParticipantpakfanistan, you should send a paypal donation to that rinky dink site you posted as I see that the single author of that 90?s style website is begging for them on there.. then maybe he can afford to have it look less like something created by a cult leader.
I posted it because it had a LOT of information. I’m sorry it doesn’t meet your standards. Why don’t you provide links to alGoreIsTotallyWrongCauseItSnowedOneTime.blogspot.com or wherever you’re getting your information.
Here are some different links for you.

http://arstechnica.com/science/2014/01/three-arguments-about-climate-change-that-should-never-be-used/MAYBE when someone can present a credible study with ACTUAL FACTUAL data (not screwed the pooch data like has been used before) then it can become fact…Last summer was the coolest I can remember, and rainiest, in a long long time. So far this winter has been brutal for us but I also remember the winter of 71 when we had a two week stretch when it didn’t get above freezing AT ALL.
So all the data collected so far hasn’t be actual or factual? Seriously, what kind of ‘data’ do you want? It was cold last summer. There’s your anecdotal ‘data’.
pakfanistanParticipantpakfanistanParticipantI don’t see any way we make the NCAA tournament this year. We haven’t risen above our level all season, and I don’t know why we would start to now. We’ll probably win some of the games we should be close in, lose to Syracuse and Pitt, still not have any good top 50 wins, and be NIT bound.
pakfanistanParticipantMars was warming during the 90?s. It’s ice cap was shrinking.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-on-mars.htm
The earth has a cycle of warming and cooling periods, influenced and interrupted by, among other things, cycles of the sun, volcanic activity, and ocean currents and salinity.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-natural-cycle.htm
The earth is technically still on the back side of an ice age.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/coming-out-of-little-ice-age.htm
I find it hilarious that you think that 97% of climate scientists are just choosing to ignore ‘natural cycles’. And also a little sad.
pakfanistanParticipantBut no surprise that you’d interject a pompous, priggish comment dripping with douchebaggery.
I was trying to put it in a language you would understand.
pakfanistanParticipant^^ Totally agree. Just like 20 year “trends” that leveled out 10 years ago shouldn’t be used to make global projections with complete indifference to 10?s of thousands of years of climate change patterns.
That’s false. Like, not just part of it, all of it
pakfanistanParticipantI was just thinking the other night that I missed the days of the Weave-and-Heave and of being a bubble team at best for the NCAAT.
Oh, wait, I wasn’t.
Herb has made one tournament (or is it 2?) in five or so years.
One tournament appearance in 7 years, where he was knocked out in the second round. Truly, the man is a coaching powerhouse.
pakfanistanParticipantBecause the board has very vocal conservative, libertarian, and liberal contingents, and anything remotely political turns into a crapfest.
pakfanistanParticipantI was really hoping to get to use this….
pakfanistanParticipantNo, I completely get that your entire waking existence revolves around spouting ‘Obama sux’ at every possible opportunity.
I get that you think it’s related because UNC BAD and OBAMA ALSO BAD.
Why don’t you just start the Nobama megathread and get it out of the way? Then you and I can sit around and circle jerk about it without cluttering up a perfectly good UNC bashing thread.
pakfanistanParticipantJamie Luckie facts:
“Jamie Luckie” is an anagram of “A Juice Me Ilk”
This is a clear reference that he drives NC State fans (me ilk) to liquor (juice, i.e. screwdrivers, gin and juice, etc.)
WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
pakfanistanParticipantGiven the White House’s “truth” and the accompanying twiddling of thumbs on Bhengazi, the IRS, Fast and Furious, spying on reporters, AG lying under oath about James Rosen, Sebelius demands for payment from private companies that the HHS ‘might’ regulate, Solyndra et al, Lisa Jackson and “Richard Windsor”, the forced purging of “noncompliant” military leaders, and the firing of “noncompliant” IG’s, to say nothing of the disregard for the separation of powers and the exclusive right of congress to legislate, I’m surprised that anything would blow your mind on something as trivial as the lack of NCAA action on corrupt collegiate athletics.
That’s so ridiculously unrelated I don’t even know how to respond.
Maybe you should step outside of your bubble every now and then.
pakfanistanParticipantIt blows my mind that all of this stuff can come out, and the NCAA twiddles their thumbs.
A single season post season ban for football and a few lost scholarships…
No LOIC, no vacated championships, despite ample evidence.
Nothing.
pakfanistanParticipantDaft Punk is awesome you communist.
pakfanistanParticipantI hope when the next big time coach is available, we aren’t sitting around with our thumb up our butts like we were with Sendek and Lowe.
Also, this is a test to see if I can post.
pakfanistanParticipantI can’t comment on the stats, but with the eye test, we’re a really handsy team and don’t move our feet or get in position on defense, and we’re out of control with the ball a lot on offense. It does not surprise me that other teams are getting the benefit of the calls.
pakfanistanParticipantALL THE FEELS
pakfanistanParticipantYES YES YES YES YES
pakfanistanParticipantAnd there goes Warren :/
pakfanistanParticipant17 assists so far to 9 turnovers.
