If his name was Harrison Barnes and he wore blue every expert journalist out there would be on their knees. Warren gets a lot of love – don’t get me wrong.

Warren’s sophomore numbers are better than Barnes’ in every single statistic I cared to look at. Points, PP40, rebounds, O&D rebounding percentages, assists, steals, etc.

    It’s pretty incredible.

I have a theory that the reason TJ doesn’t get as much recognition, is because he doesn’t LOOK like a superstar. Nothing he does in a game is dramatic. I almost think that when people watch him, it doesn’t look like he’s working hard to score, and therefore they assume he’s not phenomenal.

It’s kinda like we notice every game. One second he as 4 points, and the next he was 24, but you really don’t remember how he did it. He gets his points freakishly quietly. So, I think when people tune in to a game for 10 minutes, they may not see something amazing and acrobatic, it’ll just be a boring 10 minute stretch where TJ scores 15 and grabs four rebounds.

Speaking of streaks, Lewis is crushing Lowe’s career A/T ratio, this year. Sid was 2.94, Lewis is currently at 4.2 for the season, and 3.34 for his career.

Of course, Lowe had 762 assists, to Lewis’s current 177. But still.

    Did he pay his taxes?

    Ouch >__<

Anybody remember when a certain poster who hasn’t been around for a while (at least not under the same name) claimed Lowe was an arch criminal? Note, I’m not saying he was wrong, I’m just wondering if anybody else remembers it.

… so you agree Coach BZZZ gets another year to see if this year’s success against the Road translates into something bigger and better ???

If Wake was on a upward trajectory, I would say yes. But they’ve plummeted since Bzzzzzz took over and have been bottom 3rd or worse in the conference. And Bzzz was horrible at Colorodo posting similar records to what’s going on at Wake.

I suppose it’s within the realm of possibility that he may suddenly be possessed by the spirit of John Wooden, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Nobody has answered this question… not even the Baptists….

“Without ‘naked’ pictures or alleged criminal activity, how can you fire any Tobacco Road basketball coach who beat everybody else on Tobacco Road that season?” Is not “Beating the Road”… an automatic stay of execution?

I think it would be fair to make the argument that those wins are meaningless if they can’t or won’t be parlayed into greater success.

A guy like Archie Miller would be fantastic there.

I thought that, but I wonder what Archie’s long game will be. BC isn’t a destination job, and I don’t imagine it’s a great recruiting draw either. It might be more difficult to find success at BC than he wants.

I mean, Al Skinner took BC to a regular season championship* and the S16, and now he’s an assistant at Bryant.

Gottfried will always base PT on the player’s offensive ability and the fit in the high post. Defense and rebounding are afterthoughts. Come tourney time, we’ll always play on the margins. Because we depend on shooting a high percentage and scoring it efficiently, we can’t have off nights on O because we don’t defend and rebound well consistently. When you get to 64, you face pretty balanced teams, as a rule. Xavier isn’t knock-your-socks off great on either end, but they’re solid on both. This one is a coin flip. Could win, could lose, could be ugly, could be a blowout.

I haven’t seen them play, but the rumor is they’re sloppy with the ball. If that’s true, with TJ’s tendency to jump passing lanes and pick off passes, that might swing things slightly in our favor.

Tangential to the issue of SOS, might the push for higher SOS have a negative effect on overall parity?

What’s the impetus for a player to go to a small school that none of the big boys will schedule?

What makes us both interesting and vulnerable is that we have such wildly divergent pieces. For instance, we have two VERY different lineups:

Unfortunately they’re basically mutually exclusive. We have to decide if we want to trade offense for defense or vice versa. It might depend on which BSW shows up. If it’s 5-8 BSW, then offense. If it’s 2-10 BSW, defense.

If UVA defends the way they have, oh, the past 3 months, then they are moving on easily. That thing is rock solid.

Let’s see how they officiate in the tournament. That might have an effect on Virginia’s chance at advancing.

but Herb didn’t personally do anything to us, right? If so I’ve either forgotten or just moved on.. either way it’s better for my health that way.

The only think I can think of is he was supposedly spreading rumors of job offers in order to get raises. Otherwise, he’s just a casualty of our struggle with public perception.

Can someone please explain why we all lament Herb Sendek again?

Because we were burned at the stake in local and national media for not being satisfied with his brand of mediocre basketball. People still think he was fired from NC State.

Now we need him to fail so we can all look back and say, “I told you so….”
