Cat was way better at the end of the year than he was at the beginning of the year. By the end of the year, his assist rate was nearly equal to Tyler’s, and he had a lower turnover %. Even if he just maintains his play from the end of the season we have an opportunity to be good. That doesn’t even account for the vast improvement he is on defense compared to Tyler.
Also, Warren, while he got a lot of steals, wasn’t really very good on defense. He had good anticipation, but basically no ability to play positional defense. He caught out of a stance, flat footed, more times than I can count. His scoring will be tough to replace. His defense…not so much.

(although Noah’s former negativity was pretty hilarious)
I liked noah :/
pakfanistanParticipantRunners have nothing on vegetarians and crossfitters when it comes to proselytizing.
Edit: and with crossfit’s history of rhabdo, it’s arguably more dangerous than long distance running.
pakfanistanParticipantBTW, I really like Doeren and hope he does well. I think he’s a fantastic contrast to Fedora.
pakfanistanParticipantwhat was Nate tweeting about not being able to get into the gym? anyone have any info on that?
Looks pretty straight forward. He tried to get into Carmichael, and apparently was told, “no dice”, without a current student ID.

pakfanistanParticipantWhat are you gonna do? More officials? More use of instant replay? Change the rule again?
How do you remove the judgment element?
pakfanistanParticipantI watched that video without knowing the outcome, and I was heartbroken.

pakfanistanParticipantIf UNC can stall long enough, the NCAA will be dead before they’re forced to take down some banners.

pakfanistanParticipantWe ranked 294th at 66% for the year. Near the bottom.
Yes, on average, for the year, we weren’t good. But we did make a late season push to a respectable level.
As a matter of fact, we averaged 76% in the five games (BC-XU) preceding the SLU loss.
pakfanistanParticipantGott is a big picture guy. He is relational and generally gets along well with the guys. Very good offensive coach. But I do wonder about details and his perception. I mean, he stated in the post game that we were a good FT shooting team. Really? What film are you watching?
I think percentage wise, we improved several percentage points over the course of the season. I think we had reached a state of “not bad”.
We shot 54% against SLU, while we shot 75% against Exavier, 78% against Duke, and 71% against Syracuse.
If we had shot 70% against SLU that would have been worth almost 6 extra points.
03/23/2014 at 6:25 PM in reply to: Byting college BBall’s decline + Sunday’s Tourney preview & open thread #49373pakfanistanParticipantMe, I am glad to see Wichita State gone. I got tired of hearing how great they are…far as I am concerned, they were a 3rd or 4th place ACC quality team playing in a weak conference. Southern Illinois and Missouri State? Yeah, that’s some top flight conference competition.
Did you watch them play this year?
pakfanistanParticipantI love the way Wichita State plays. Love it. I hope Gott is watching.
pakfanistanParticipantI don’t disagree with you, but by the same token, that’s the same logic that lead to us being stuck with the Herbivore for 10 years.
pakfanistanParticipantHoly crap A++++!!1 Would read again!
pakfanistanParticipantWell, at least someone beat Dook in the PNC.
I laughed, and then I cried.
pakfanistanParticipantBeautiful, beautiful play by Mercer.
pakfanistanParticipantOMG K is going to have an aneurysm.
pakfanistanParticipantCome on Mercer! If I can’t have a win, at least give me schadenfreude.
pakfanistanParticipantThe team played 2 games in 5 days. If they are tired from that then our conditioning needs to be addressed.
I can’t comment on why, only what I saw.
For all I know it could be nutrition, sleep deprivation (they did arrive in Orlando at 3:30 in the morning), conditioning, or a combination of all three.
From watching, I don’t think they folded, I think they bonked.
pakfanistanParticipantI’ve never seen a team as tired as we looked last night.
I had a bad feeling with about 5 minutes to go in regulation when STL was shooting free throws and all of our guys were leaning over at the waist, straight legged, grabbing their shorts.
I can’t comment on the coaching job, but I know from first hand experience that when you’re tired, all of the things you know you should be doing go right out the window.
I think the best way to sum up what happened last night is….
Fatigue makes cowards of us all
