Go Pack! I like this board so much more than the wackiness of PP. Wish it had more active ( but maybe the quality over quantity is what I like)

Want to believe we will win. Don’t think we will, although we’ve won in this situation before. Either way we’ll be there cheering loud.

Some more useless trivia: Since we last won there in ’01 (i.e. since ’03), Jim Grobe’s success against us also coincided with success overall against the other two Tobacco Road schools:

From ’03 to ’13, He won a total of 25 home ACC games, 12 of which were against NC State/Duke/UNC. 6 win against us; 6 against Duke/UNC

I’m packing for the beach and forgot about putting this entry up until about an hour ago while I was in line at the ABC Store.

You have better priorities than me

Doeren said he just hasn’t had the time to deal with it.

Where has he said that? Did he comment on it publicly?

Being top 25 ranked has been the kiss-of-death of State for as long as I can remember.
True. But that was under different leadership when the Pack was made of different stuff.

I agree with both. As long suffering Pack fans know (or even recent ones), we have not handled the success of a top 25 ranking. We obviously weren’t prepared to stay there. I also believe more in the current regime than any prior since my time (late 90’s).

it’s a paradox…hope we don’t play well enough to be ranked so we then lose and drop out. Is it better to just be bad enough to stay unranked? Lol

Too many times we have gotten ranked and then lost a big game the very next week.

    Totally… remember VT in 2010?

While i am not too concerned if we are, i believe if we win by 2 td’s or more over UL we will be ranked 23-25th, depending on how those bottom ranked teams perform.

More importantly, UL is having some major problems, but they are the best 1-3 team in the country. Petrino is awesome and finding the holes in the field (aw yeah!) and may tear apart our secondary. Our DLine pressure will make the difference.

I agree with CD. However, it will be nice to see us crack it and stay there.

I think we can be a very good team this year and am very confident under Doeren. I am really looking forward to playing ACC-level talent from here.

Doeren’s rushing philosophy will help us tremendously through the season, especially in tough games or if we start slow.

O line on pass protection is a recurring problem. Especially against inferior competition.

    Barr hasn’t played.

A little surprising to see the low 3rd down offense percentage. Must be the end-of-the-game part where that stat went down.

I also don’t see a category for “Hit So Hard Helmet Flew Off” Dravious Wright – 1

I normally don’t join in the celebration of such things as kids are getting hurt, but that QB seems to have shaken it off well.

I have never been as excited about an upcoming NC State football season as I have been the last three months.

Weren’t you here for 2003? Man that was disappointing

It’s good to see a focus on the problem with declining attendance. The surveying method is part of the problem. The stats people on here will tell you the sampling methods, framing of questions, etc. can greatly influence the results. For example, if the questioning starts off with: “What don’t you like about attending college football games?” already biases the responder towards not liking games, when in fact, they may or may not.

A better set of questions may be: how do you like to spend your Saturday afternoons in the fall? From there, the surveyor may realize that football is now lower on people’ list of things to do due to competing venues of entertainment. From there, they can seek to determine why college football is losing ground to alternatives.

If i had to guess, the arms race of tv contracts, being paid for more and more commercials, is diluting the experience. Winning also helps; especially if you haven’t historically been a winning program. I.e. a change in experience.
