I had 6 in my mind for some reason. No idea why. I guess I’m becoming elderly.

^ Great news. Are they back up to where they started out ranked in the beginning of the season or were they 6?

Wake keeping things interesting with a series win over FSU. And Louisville brought the brooms out against Clemson.

It stinks losing the last game, but winning the series. It feels like a downer even though it was a good series win on the road. Looking back later it will look good, though. They scored a buttload of runs this past week. I just need some time.

Great win. Great game. I was watching the replay on ESPN3, so heading into the 9th I could tell there was quite a bit of time left. The way the game was going, I assumed it meant GT was going to tie the game and take it into extra innings. Didn’t see that meltdown coming. That’s got to be a bad feeling with 2 outs left to just not be able to get off the field. GT had some sweet double plays. That SS can get the ball out of his hand in a hurry.

His new administrative duties with the basketball program will include assistance with the personal and academic development, housing arrangements, planning and logistics associated with the team’s foreign tour and other special projects.

Are they going to finally set up an illicit academic system for players? Better late than never.

I think his junk talking is just an outworking of his competitiveness. I was always a very different person when playing a competitive sport vs. real life. I had a class with him and he seemed like a nice, normal guy. Of course that was 15 years ago. It was his freshman year when he was starting to get some big publicity. If I saw him around campus, he always said hi. Always seemed different off the field (very limited sample size).

I thought that was mighty gentlemanly of them to spot WF 5 runs. Winning with class.
It looked like it was going to be big trouble early, but thankfully Staley was able to settle things down and Avent got them fired up or at least got to go take it easy about 5 hours before everyone else. Well, everyone but Piedmonte that is.

You really threw me there. I won’t tell you how many posts I had to read before I realized this was tacked onto something from last summer. It was still fun to reminisce about the O’s from last season. Maybe “fun” isn’t the word I’m looking for. Carlos with the loss after giving up 2 runs in the first two innings, then throwing 5 scoreless.
How about the weird pitching delivery of John Gant of the Braves (no relation to Ron)? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2016/04/07/the-weirdest-most-confusing-pitching-delivery-in-baseball-belongs-to-john-gant/

“Gorjok Gak (any relation to Todd?)” – is that Dutch

Khan might be able to help me out, but I believe it’s Klingon (using alternate transliteration) for acne and serpent worms (a Klingon delicacy; yum!). Of course, technically Khan should be in hypersleep or something. Maybe he still gets phone service in his little sleep chamber. That is, if J.J. Abrams didn’t alter that aspect of the timeline. Please tell me we still had Eugenics Wars in the 90’s.

Sorry, didn’t mean to steal your thunder :). I know baseball updates are your shtick. Just had to vent a little after “watching” (if the Gamecast thing can be called watching) that.

We still can’t figure out why everyone’s so concerned about the academics in Chapel Hill. We certainly aren’t.

Wow, disastrous 8th. Could have gone into bottom of 9th with two-run lead; instead a two-run loss. Too bad with what looks like a good outing by Brown – 7.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R. Then Beckman with the 4-spot in relief. Ouch. I’m sure someone’s wishing Brown had stayed on for the last out in the 8th. I assume Beckman seemed the more attractive matchup and hindsight is 20/20 and all. At least there’s still a chance to take the series tomorrow. Too bad there’s no ESPN3. FSU rainout kept me from watching last week. I’m glad MLB is starting up so I don’t have to care about the Fraudulent Four.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes people get obsessed with a fictional character…and it rains. Or because it rains. I’m not sure. But think about that for a while.

Tough call for GT. On the one hand, you are already paying 2 coaches, so unless you have tons to spend, you don’t want someone you’re going to have to pay big bucks to. But, if you hire another dud, you’re going to be looking again and paying several coaches to do nothing for several years.
I’d be happy to help them skip the drama and just pay me $500,000 a year to be an ex-coach; saves time and money. I could even possibly be talked down to $100,000.

I’m certainly not a baseball expert, but giving up 6 runs in the first inning to a very good team is not a recipe for winning. Maybe they just wanted to lull them into a false sense of security before pouncing. Wolves can be tricky.
Oh, I can neither confirm nor deny any plans to extract certain persons – fictitious or otherwise – from certain countries in order to deliver them to another country. Well, I could, but then I’d have to kill you.

Baseball?! Baseball?! The Beard Clones are moving on to seek mid-major stardom and you expect me to think about baseball??? I’m deep down in my offseason bunker. I only come up for the occasional death spiral update, to buy bread and water, and to empty the bucket. Oh, and to say hi to the fam. It’s scary times.

On to baseball. I was glad to see them “pull out” the series win against ND and not start with 2 league series losses. Hopefully if they have to be up and down for a while, they’re up when it counts and down when it’s not as important. Something tells me it won’t quite happen that way. I’ll look forward to catching the Sunday game when it’s on at a decent time in my time zone. Thankful for ESPN3.

Stranger things have happened of course, but Abu just seems to be taking advantage of the new rules. If you’re interested in eventually playing in the NBA, why not take advantage of it and find out what people think of you and what you need to work on. It can be nothing but a good experience for the person, then they come back and know what to expect the next year. Surely more and more players who have no chance of getting drafted (more than already declare I mean) will be doing this and it will become the norm as long as they don’t change the rules back.

My second favorite team….whoever is playing UNC.

Exactly. As NC State fans, we may not always be able to pull for The Pack, but we can usually pull against UNC. Sad I know.
