I was actually glad it went into OT (not at the time it went into OT, but looking back at the end of the game). They seemed to do a lot better in the OT period to seal the win. Of course it would have better to not have to come to that at all, but given that it did, they responded well in the extra 5. I’m glad both Maverick and Beejay were able to rejoin the team today.
A more convincing win would have been ideal, but I’m sure glad they didn’t fold.

I like your non-discriminatory name for your cave. Very progressive 😉
Thanks for the heads up on the store, too.

    lol no thanks

Ah, come on. It’s December 26th. Everyone will still be full of Christmas cheer. Or too much eggnog.

So the ACC won the challenge, right? We can all take solace in that. Lost the battle, but won the war. Hang your heads high.

Maybe the crowd could do the DE-FENSE chant throughout the entire game just as a subtle reminder.

Oh, and go get a kicker

Yeah, until they do, ESPN can take off the green “field goal range” line when State is on offense.

Man, Kapita was a revelation. And today was the first time I’ve heard it pronounced. I always read it as KAP-ita. Not Ka-PITA, like pita bread. Or Peeta if you’re a Hunger Games fan (resisting urge to make BeeJay Anya joke…). I know it’s only one game, but he seemed to make a statement, and the statement was: if you’re gonna earn PT, you’re going to have to work harder than me.
Would be interesting to see a percentage of minutes played by players not on the floor last year.

They’ve had problems finishing. Finishing isn’t always at the end of the game. Drives at the end of the 3rd and 4th were “finishing” drives. Or “finish him” drives in the parlance of Mortal Kombat. Well-played game and win on the road.*

    Where was Shawn Kirk?

Sitting at the end of the bench praying for a large enough blowout to allow him some PT.

Well, that was far from inspiring. At least they won. I’m sure it’s all part of Gott’s plan. Let them face some adversity so that they don’t get too overconfident, but still keep them in it just enough to win. Brilliant master plan at work, no doubt.
The good thing is that Gott’s teams are usually their best by March, so there’s still plenty of time.

By the way, The Dorn Ultimatum made me chuckle.

The name Torin Dorn almost doesn’t need a nickname. You just have to always say both names together. It’s like a name from a Greek epic or Tolkein novel – like Thorin Oakenshield’s grandson or something.

I liked the ball movement. They seem to show an unselfishness, but at the same time, a willingness to make individual plays when the opportunity is there. Yurt7 didn’t have an impressive game. Certainly talented and showed more of his skill in the first game. Hopefully he was just having an off night. Fouling out with 4 points against Barton ain’t gonna cut it long term.
Does Abu seem more trimmed down to anyone else? Something looks different about him and he seems to do be able to do more with the ball on the floor.
I just can’t get over the sheer number of players this year. I don’t know what to do with myself. I can’t even keep up with everyone. They call out a name and I say, “Oh yeah, I forgot about him.”
I know the competition was not nearly what it will be during the season, but they were killing it in the transition game. They can afford to push the pace and intensity with the long bench.
If they have the successful year that we all hope they will and believe is possible, I don’t know what I’ll do. My reality will be altered. I might even be able to accept the fact that Donald Trump just became president of the United States. Who knew.

Speaking of predictions, what tidbits do you predict will be repeated by every announcer of every Pack game this year?

    * Will Anya’s wingspan still be in play? I assume the weight watchers will keep us up to date on the fluctuations. Perhaps a combo: Anya’s wingspan is now the same as his waistline?
    * DSJ coming off an injury and missing his senior season I’m sure will be mentioned as well as who knows what else considering he is the BMOC at the moment.
    * Y7’s 9-game suspension. Maybe his nationality gets some play.

What other tidbits do you think we’ll be treated to ad nauseam throughout the season?

The baseball exorcism is complete. The curse of the Babe and the curse of the goat both lifted in our lifetimes. Who’s next? The Bills make the playoffs? Or the Indians get their championship next year? Heck, maybe UNC will win it’s first* national championship.

^In this day and age you have to be careful with your words. You’re liable to have someone looking at the bottom of the lake for a bludgeoned woman.

On the question of “8”: just curious which side of the ledger that number needs to be on for it to become a magic number.

Bill, I like that you are persistently pushing this idea that I simply chuckled at in your first post and actually have me brainstorming.
Add a drawing each game for one lucky fan to attempt an in-game field goal. You add a new wrinkle in the game that will bring outside attention and be an extra draw to get fans to the game.
