Did anyone else watch the first half of the Duke/ND game and think, “This isn’t fair?” If they’d played like that the night before, it could have been a tie ballgame at the half instead of a blowout.
03/13/2015 at 3:45 AM in reply to: "Confessions of a Herb Sendek Defender," Deja Vu for Wolfpack Fans #79382PackerInRussiaParticipantHa, that’s funny. That was a rough game to watch, but at least there’s Herb to make things feel better. “Where’s Herb? I need to let off some steam.”
PackerInRussiaParticipantTwas nice to see the bats come alive. A great series win that showed some nice stuff from the Pack. Those turn-twos in Game 3 were nuts. I was hoping for a 7th in the 9th to give it a fitting ending (and ACC record), but alas it wasn’t to be (and after a while, I as just hoping for any end to the 9th). Oh, and we’ll just forget about that certain 7th inning. The team apparently did. Go Pack and keep knocking those flat seam balls outta the park.
PackerInRussiaParticipantAlso, unless I missed someone, State played 11 of the teams currently projected to make the field for a total of 13 games (so far).
PackerInRussiaParticipantJust for the record, in Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology, he has State a 9-seed, playing Cincy with the winner of that game playing Kentucky. I’d hate to think all that effort by the team lately (@BC excluded) would earn such a “reward.” Fortunately, if that’s what the prediction is, that means it probably won’t turn out that way.

PackerInRussiaParticipantFrom the USA Today article:
The committee also has imposed financial penalties, imposed recruiting restrictions for two years and sanctioned the school with five years of probation because of 10 self-reported violations…
That’s the big difference between this case and UNC. Syracuse tried to be proactive and they’re getting hammered. It’ll be interesting to see if trying to be proactive gets you in more trouble than delaying and denying.
PackerInRussiaParticipantESPN3 courtesy of Hotspot shield. Otherwise, the motherland ain’t havin’ it (technically, ESPN ain’t havin’ it).
PackerInRussiaParticipantI think that’s the first time I’ve heard the word “gutty” instead of “gutsy.” Both are variants of the same word, of course; just don’t usually hear the one without the “s”
PackerInRussiaParticipantJust got finished watching the game against ECU. That looked more like Russian League baseball weather. That’s been the only game I’ve been able to watch so far (thank you ESPN3). Hope to catch more if ESPN3 shows them. That was a nice win. Hold the fort, then attack and keep pouring it on.
PackerInRussiaParticipantWill no one listen to the wise Shaq’s advice to Kobe?
PackerInRussiaParticipantHad the French Revolution occurred in modern times, the collapsible basketball goal would surely have been the tool of choice to carry out its punishments.
PackerInRussiaParticipantAlways nice to win a conference championship. Great job for them.
PackerInRussiaParticipantIf it takes a loss afterwards to get a win against UNC, I’ll take that deal any day of the week. You might tempt me with two losses, even. UNC fans can criticize us or the team or whoever for making it such a big deal, but it’s not like their team, and especially their coach, treat it like just another game. They’re usually playing lights out and get up in a big way for that game. It means a lot to them, too.
If we were still having arguments about BCS v. playoff in football, this would be an argument in the non-playoff category. We’re not even allowed to enjoy a win against Carolina, at Carolina (where we’ve historically had tons of success???) for more than 5 days because losing at Boston College could negatively impact NCAAT selection. Not saying there’s not legitimate reason to be upset with that loss, but I wish I could just bask in a very meaningful win (meaningful beyond any post-season tournament) without having to fret about how a loss might affect RPI (and, yes, I understand that affecting RPI is not the issue, but rather overall record).PackerInRussiaParticipant^That is impressive. I would think you’d actually have to put forth effort to lose that badly. You could play blindfolded and not do much worse. Final score was a 40+ point beatdown.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^^ I tried the sleeping technique my freshman year as well. The biggest thing I learned that year was that I was going to have to put forth a great deal more effort than I ever did in school.
I like holding the team to that kind of standard if it’s true. Not sure about the 4 tardies and you’re out, though.PackerInRussiaParticipant^I’m thankful they didn’t participate in that ugliness. I had a pair of pants like that when I was a kid.
PackerInRussiaParticipantNice breakdown of the beatdown.
I was really glad he used the timeouts the way he did when they were starting to close the gap. I hate watching a coach wait until the other team has scored 10 points before deciding to call a timeout. On one of those, he called a timeout after just one basket I think.PackerInRussiaParticipantLast decade, they swept them 2 years in a row. There was the year they were terrible and everyone (except Clemson who still managed to lose by 20) beat them. That was awesome. That was the year Kris Lang was like their best player. The next year, in Chapel Hill, they hit 100% of their free throws (at least in regulation if my memory serves me correctly) and took them into OT, but still squeaked it out. That team was the future national championship team.
PackerInRussiaParticipantGoing old school tonight at 9pm — Star Trek II and the Wrath of Khan!
You can never go wrong with some classic Star Trek. Especially The Wrath Of Khan. I’ve been introducing my son to Start Trek. We’re up to Start Trek V.
PackerInRussiaParticipantI was, however, bemoaning the trend of cowards banding together from afar to ruin someone’s life because of a difference of opinion. It’s a topic I’d like to see discussed more at large as we’re more interconnected than ever with technology rapidly changing.
So, you want to band people together to complain about how people band together and complain?
If I can offer a little color commentary on my comment there: I used several tried and true internet tactics. 1) slightly exaggerating/twisting your position and honing in on a small part to help make my point 2) accusing you of the pinnacle of internet no-no’s: the logical fallacy. Now, if only I could spot a grammar mistake to cast down on your intellect.
The internet is terrible and great. And for the record, I wouldn’t touch 50 Shades of Grey with a 39 1/2-foot pole.
02/14/2015 at 9:42 AM in reply to: 247sports.com names u*nc as dark horse to make football playoff #74054PackerInRussiaParticipantI think the author makes some excellent points. I mean, they have players on offense. Some are even above average. And then defense. Well, let’s just say that they have a chance to make some plays this year. Some of them might even turn out to be good plays. Nuff said? If that’s not solid enough evidence for you, consider that if they win their games, they’ll get into the conversation of playoffs. To me, that’s the key part: winning games. If they can pull that off, then the sky’s the limit. It all seems to point to a special season from a special coach with his special players. And it will all go along great with their special education.
I still wonder when they’re going to officially change their mascot. Mr. Ed was dark wasn’t he?PackerInRussiaParticipantMan, what a waste of money. That could have gone towards like 5 minutes of PR consultation.
PackerInRussiaParticipantStaring at the several feet of snow out my window, talk of baseball blows my mind. I’ll slowly come to accept it, though. Until my mind catches up with reality, thank you for the outlook on baseball this year.
And who’s Kelvin? Is he one of the potential catchers?
Lenin Cat – always cheering for the Red State.PackerInRussiaParticipantThey sure took a long time just to get it wrong. Cody’s just a freshman; he hasn’t learned proper elbowing reaction yet. You’re supposed to act as if you’ve been knocked over by a Mack truck to help make it clear to the ref that you were elbowed.
