ParticipantMan, that game yesterday was a tough one to lose. A game of inches. A few inches (maybe slightly more) out of reach and they score the winning run on a blooper in shallow outfield in the early early innings. They had some great defensive moments including two throw-outs from the catcher and a run-saving double play. They blew some opportunities on offense – bases loaded with one out for example! C’est la baseball. Hopefully it gave them a bit of a confidence booster at least. A series win would have been nicer, though.

ParticipantGeno Auriemma calls men’s college basketball a joke…on April Fool’s Day. Fitting.

ParticipantWhat?! Predicting 2 losses?? No respect. Bulletin board material.

Participant^ You mean BJD’s communist transformation hasn’t concerned you 🙂

ParticipantI don’t think there’s any way K leaves without announcing it in plenty of time for a plan to be in place for the next coach and for a year-long lovefest. Free hugs at every game to every fan – home and away.

ParticipantI enjoyed that. Thanks.

ParticipantHe has a point about beating Nova. I mean, all they did was out-physical them, play good defense and score more points than they did. I mean, come on, anyone could do that. The other teams they played this year would have, they just didn’t feel like it.

ParticipantI haven’t shaved since last Saturday either. It’d better be worth it. My back is looking rough.

ParticipantI wouldn’t even let me dog chew on those. So, yeah, perfect indeed.
PackerInRussia
ParticipantYeah, they were definitely battle-tested as well as having a good RPI. Great use of the OOC. They played Villanova tough as if they’d had a few cracks at physical play before.

ParticipantJasonP, I was thinking the same thing. It seems to give a bit of closure on the whole thing. In less than half the time as he was at ASU, Gottfried has as many S16 appearances as he did NCAA appearances. There’s something about that that seems to vindicate what a lot of “haters” were saying.
By the way, I hadn’t really seen a picture of him in a long time. Hardly recognized him.
Oh, and maybe he can Capel can just switch jobs. And Herb can be Duke’s coach-in-waiting.PackerInRussia
ParticipantJust saw this on ESPN:
Someone stands to win some big money if NC State wins it all.

ParticipantCat Barber of Sevill…anova.
Awful, I know.

ParticipantWufpacker, don’t doubt the power of X. 🙂

ParticipantGonzaga fails to meet expectations. Xavier gets to the S16. Duke loses too early. I pick an early round upset of a team that makes the Final Four. All of my dreams get crushed.
Just a few of the things that seem to happen every year.PackerInRussia
ParticipantIt’s great to have another top-notch basketball team in the conference with a hall of fame coach. Oh well, at least the New York market isn’t retiring or being sanctioned.

ParticipantIts hard to argue what you are not sure you understand.
Are you kidding? People do it all the time. It’s a touchstone of the Internet. I think that’s why it was invented. 🙂
Great stuff, although, I have to admit to being too dumb to understand a lot of it.

ParticipantHa, I just finished watching this after a friend sent me the link. I greatly enjoyed the part about UNC. Always worth the price of admission. I liked how the guys interviewed about taking Swahili could barely say it with a straight face. And John Oliver’s point that having these guys take Swahili to stay eligible (while adding no actual value to your life or education) is a topic you’d expect to cover in a course on the plight of African-Americans that they’re supposedly studying.

ParticipantTalk about a contrast in styles. Harvard’s liable to try something sneaky like putting a few extra players on the court. UNC wouldn’t be able to count high enough by the time the game was over to protest. Unless they bring along their professional bean counter (a.k.a. attendance estimator). “I estimate there to be as many as 523 players on the court for Harvard.”

Participant^^ Far from shabby, in fact! One year away from eternal enshrinement for Gottfried! Results unnecessary for consideration!

ParticipantI think 9 seed and Wisconsin (I could have sworn there were double letters in “Wisconsin”; thank goodness for spell check). And if you like May Day, try International Women’s Day, March 8th.

ParticipantCongratulations to Mike “No Tie Shall Ever Darken The Folds Of My Collar” Brey. ND looked really good. I had no issue pulling for them. It wasn’t even a question. I can’t fathom experiencing the slightest bit of joy at UNC success. I might die a little on the inside.

ParticipantI’m still rooting for Butler to continue the trend of teams winning the championship the year after an NC State PG transfers there (or at least a wannabe PG).
