Wow, impressive job by Maryland. And good for UVA. And I still can’t believe that loss. I’ll try to care about the rest of the games, but it’s hard.

Does this mean the football team will have to give back their Coastal Division Champion rings?

The more people that make a stink the better. Because where there’s stink, there’s crap. And sooner or later, crap will hit the fan.

I got behind in my watchings as I was traveling this weekend and couldn’t watch anything till yesterday. Thankfully a friend warned me and kept me from watching the epic collapse. I would have been sick afterward. I’m still stunned just by the fact that it happened.
Welp…all of my baseball from here on out will be confined to Birdland. Sorry to see you go, Wolfpack.

Gothca, thanks. So, everyone’s right. 3:30 works better for me anyway. Relativity at its finest.

Gopack.com (yeah, I know) has the game listed at 3:30. Is 2:30 gametime or coverage time (I’d think an hour for something like this would be a little too long of a build-up)? Oh, who to believe, who to believe?
    Go Pack!

P.S. How many times did you reread the headline for spelling? 😉

^ Good point. Maybe better as a mid-summer reflection. Not the day after going 3-0 against ND, Miami, and VA and playing in the championship game even if the result was a loss. Especially considering the improved position they put themselves in for postseason play and the fact that said play hasn’t begun yet. No doubt a relevant topic, but after the fat lady has sung. And may she hold off as long as possible.

Man oh man. Just finished watching the replay. What a way to win. I remember getting a homerun like that in fifth grade. Shouldn’t have needed it if that play had been called safe at home in the earlier inning. He would have scored on the later hit. At least the good guys won in the end. That Caps For Sale rally cap was epic.

^ I was thinking the same thing. Not going to bust his chops or anything, but UNC-State ain’t gonna cut it. He’ll know better soon enough. Glad to have him aboard.

Just wanna say that I took advantage of a US appearance to take a few of the Russia Jr’s out to the ballpark yesterday. Unfortunately didn’t get to see a comeback win, but had a nice time nonetheless. Got a taste of sun like we haven’t in a while and have the red knees and neck to prove it. We all now have a nice spectator’s tan (well, burn at the moment). Glad they got one win at least. Thought they were going to pull out some heroics yesterday, but, alas, they bumbled through the 9th giving up those runs. And I don’t know how it looked if you had better perspective, but I know the red-clad fans (the ones not cheering for Louisville that is) and coaches were a little miffed by the way balls and strikes were called against each team.

Could someone with better knowledge than me (that’s most of you) explain what the deal is with Piedmonte? That’s the second time where I’ve seen him get pulled very quickly/early (allowing a few runners in early innings) and O’Donnell has come in and given up a few runs.

Clutch (although they tried to make it interesting with two plunked batters in a row). Based on stats, looks like Britt had a solid game, to: 7IP 5H 2R 1ER 6SO 1BB. Good stuff. And in a show of consistency, all three pitchers hit a batter.

^^ Naturally. It wouldn’t be an unthoughtout, biased comment if it went both ways.

If you win Game 1 by 18, the losing team should have to forfeit the remainder of the series. A slaughter rule of sorts.

^ I think by “this year’s staff” he means the staff that brought in this draft year’s class (in other word, TOB’s). I could be wrong.
I wouldn’t say the finding 2-stars and coaching them up was garbage as that did happen some. You just can’t have whole classes of 2-star recruits and hope they all, or most, turn out to be 5-star players.

Are the Sox secretly a little happy about the suspensions cuz it forces them to see what their future ace can do? We are of course.

^ That’s encouraging news (not that I would wish any harm on another human being; which is why I conveniently consider UNC attendees/fans sub-human).

From a $$$$ standpoint, I get that the NCAA would be reluctant to harm someone like UNC. Makes perfect sense (although it’s a shame a “non-profit” should have to sacrifice doing what’s right for the sake of money). But they can only hold out until they themselves are threatened. As long as the threat is to UNC only, the NCAA can stand by silently because if UNC goes down, the NCAA stands to lost. They can only keep that up until the problem gets bigger than UNC and starts to come back on them. They probably are not going to sacrifice themselves all for the sake of UNC. They’re not going to go down for UNC on principle. Even the lowest of the low has some principles – looking out for #1. The question is, what will force the NCAA’s hand (or has it been forced?) and make them realize that they have to act on UNC or risk getting hurt themselves. They certainly can’t keep punishing other high-profile schools while ignoring UNC. Waiting to see if SACS will punish them could be a convenient way for them to wipe their hands of it and say that they’ve already received just punishment.
I also get that this is not a simple matter at all. There’s so much going on, if they really wanted to get to the bottom of it and dole out punishment, it’s going to take a while. The question is, who are they tasking to get to the bottom of it? Inspector Clouseau or Jack Bauer (yes, I realize Jack Bauer is not a detective, but he sure knows how to get answers)?

This article gave a few Pack players some love as “underrated stars” by doing blind comparisons to well-known performers from last year.
