I thought maybe he was going to finally do that parachute jump that got cancelled a few years back. That would be an impressive recruiting trip.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^ No doubt. I think it’s too hard to say they didn’t destroy Team Cupcake quite as much as they should have, therefore, there are issues. A close game or losing would obviously cause concern. I just think it’s too hard to pick at specific things in the context of a beatdown. They could be great or mediocre and still have pretty much the same result.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^That’s what people always say on here when complaints arise about uniform choice.
09/08/2015 at 1:32 AM in reply to: “The most despicable act I have ever seen on a football field” #88400PackerInRussiaParticipantThat was pretty bad for sure. “California has a law against it” doesn’t really make your case, though. Is there anything they don’t have a law about?
^ I don’t think this is a run-of-the-mill cheap shot unless you’re referring to cheap shots against officials. I think there’s a big difference between a cheap shot on a player who is fully padded and helmeted and at least signed up for it versus someone who is not protected in any way and could result in serious injury. I understand, when you’re in high school, sometimes you do stupid things and you don’t really think about the consequences. But, you can’t have officials worried that they might get taken out. They need to watch the game; not their backs. Does anyone know if the guy was all right?
PackerInRussiaParticipant^ You can if you provide the proper citation.
I’m not a football expert, but there appeared to be some very nice blocking by OL and WR alike. Couldn’t say if it was consistent or speak to how well they did overall, but there definitely moments.
By the way, I like the new UNC troll filter at the login page disguised as “prove your humanity.” 0+7? 10+6? That’ll keep them out for sure.
PackerInRussiaParticipantNext job I apply for, I’m not sending a resume. I’m making a hype video.
As for this one (the first one linked to), it’s pretty understated for a “hype” video. I like it. It matches its message.
PackerInRussiaParticipantMan, watching stuff pre-HD makes it look so old. It’s like ancient film footage discovered in a cave or something; not something from only 15 years ago.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^^ I assume the 5 TD TA game?
That @ Ohio State game was epic. Thanks for the link. I’ve looked for a download for a while now, but haven’t been successful. If only it could have turned out slightly different.
PackerInRussiaParticipantI had to scroll through several times before I realized who it was. The Artist Formerly Known As King Hippo.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^ I kind of like the idea of it – reminds you that you’re playing for something bigger; just another form of motivation. But, are they just doing one a year? Russ does seem an odd first choice unless it all has to work out – same number as someone already on a “legends” list who is playing the same position as you – and this just happened to work out like that. Or maybe they want to make sure he stays firmly in the Wolfpack camp/remind people that he’s from the Wolfpack camp.
PackerInRussiaParticipantI love the line about financial security. I’m glad Philip and his family won’t have to feel the strains of poverty.
Good for him, though. I’d really like to see him win it all. He was the QB of my college tenure (except for freshman year), so he holds a special place in my esteem of Wolfpack players. That and he was a darn good QB and a great, great competitor. I’m not one of those people that remembers every detail of every game I’ve ever seen through the course of my life. I’ve already forgotten most of the games from last season (except that drubbing in CH). But, I fondly remember many of the games from his time; some great performances.08/15/2015 at 9:33 AM in reply to: Picking the best college football team in each state entering 2015 #87978PackerInRussiaParticipant#OurState?

PackerInRussiaParticipantThe formula has worked. N.C. State had missed the NCAAs for 15 of 20 seasons before Gottfried’s arrival, but the coach is 4-for-4 with two Sweet 16 trips.
For some reason you never hear it put quite like that.
PackerInRussiaParticipantThat reminds me of this Sherlock Holmes-inspired joke:
“Holmes and Watson are on a camping trip. In the middle of the night Holmes wakes up and gives Dr. Watson a nudge. “Watson” he says, “look up in the sky and tell me what you see.”
“I see millions of stars, Holmes,” says Watson.
“And what do you conclude from that, Watson?”
Watson thinks for a moment. “Well,” he says, “astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meterologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I see that God is all-powerful, and we are small and insignficant. Uh, what does it tell you, Holmes?”
“Watson, you idiot! Someone has stolen our tent!”
PackerInRussiaParticipantI can’t help but think of the game where they ran out of water.
Basic survival probably wasn’t one of the options on the survey. I guess they just assume that at some places.
PackerInRussiaParticipantAccording to the timeline at that link, he committed two different times. Does that mean he’s still half committed?
PackerInRussiaParticipantOf course he didn’t expect to be implicated. That’s how it’s all been designed and meant to work. So far so good for now.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^^ I don’t know if that one works in our favor. They have Nike – the Greek goddess of victory.
PackerInRussiaParticipantCowdog, if you look up dark house in the dictionary you see this definition:
1. The subject that people write about in the off-season to fill up space.
2. See: UNC football program.
PackerInRussiaParticipantThe Pads lost their head Padre today. Glad Turner finally got to his final destination (organization-wise not team-wise; hopefully he doesn’t stay with that particular team long).
PackerInRussiaParticipantSo, does that mean that as long as they don’t screw up any over the next year nothing happens?
TheCOWDOG, I get that they’re not just going to stand there gloomily and publicly feel bad about it. I get that she has to say what she’s saying; that’s her job. The part that irks me is how they still throw out words like “rich and revered” despite all of this. It’s like Cinderella talking about how she’s a rich princess after she’s been exposed as a poor maid. Or someone standing there talking about their lovely new fragrance of perfume when everyone knows she’s covered in crap. But, to their point, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Their PR has been great so far. Why not keep it up. Hopefully we’ll see some PR-busters in the not too distant future.
PackerInRussiaParticipantNow there’s a guy who knows what he wants and goes for it.
PackerInRussiaParticipantDid someone mention hammer time?
