So, there’s still a chance of having the first 100-yard rusher since T.A.?
PackerInRussiaParticipantSimple way to keep the cowbells out. Miss St. fans have to leave their wives outside the stadium.
PackerInRussiaParticipantIt seems to me they got hosed on that call. Hate it for them. It’s tough having a call go against you. Especially when it’s the first time.
PackerInRussiaParticipantSo, gash the other team on the ground and take a big lead. Take a “hands in the dirt,” “work ethic” approach. Well, I guess it wouldn’t be the first time UNC took a page from someone else’s playbook.
PackerInRussiaParticipantMaybe they said something during the game that I missed and I didn’t follow the game thread as I watched the game the next day. But, I kept wondering where Samuels was. Was there a reason he didn’t get the ball more?
This might sound like sour grapes considering the beatdown UNC put on, but I couldn’t help thinking how overwhelmingly unintimidating their uniforms are. You could pattern a baby’s nursery after them without any changes. You almost feel bad hitting someone wearing them – until you consider who’s wearing them. Talk about wolves in sheep’s clothing.
I am with some of you on the emotion level. I had to check myself at one point as I nearly picked up my shoe and threw it across the house. My on-looking children kept me in check.

Sorry was a little busy after posting that selfie earlier. Feeling much better now. Something about the Tar Heels.

PackerInRussiaParticipantIt seemed like Wood’s quickness was something that developed over time. I don’t remember it being as quick as it was by his senior year where he could turn and flip the ball in the blink of an eye and with relative accuracy. Mav is quick now and can only get better.
Re: the Ben Simmons lovefest video: the only thing against State I saw was the picture before the video plays. I guess that one field goal he scored wasn’t impressive-looking enough.
PackerInRussiaParticipantGiven the way they’re calling fouls (you can’t touch an offense player who’s facing the basket or is it the player with the ball facing the basket? either way), they need to clear the lane and let Cat drive until everyone on the other team has fouled out and the game is called on account of lack of players on the opposing team.
PackerInRussiaParticipantI’m just glad it’s a home game. It would be double worse to be playing them in a revenge game at their place. Unless of course they lost again. I bet everyone will be at the top of their game – players and coaches – for this game. They know what’s up.
PackerInRussiaParticipantWait…did you say Christmas parade? One holiday at a time for me, thanks.
PackerInRussiaParticipantWhat will the crowd be chanting back and forth?
LIGHT GRAY –
DARK GRAY ??PackerInRussiaParticipantCompletely unrelated, but I just saw on ESPN that Timothy McVey ran for a TD for Air Force. What an unfortunately named person. He’s a sophomore which means he was born right around the time of Timothy McVeigh being in the news. Either he was born right before it and his parents did a giant hand slap or they weren’t big news-waters. I wonder if he has a teammate named David Kuresch.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^^ Hmmm…artificial intelligence. That would seem more suited for the UNC game.
Just watched Terminator last night by the way.
PackerInRussiaParticipantIf you’re gonna go alternative, might as well go all the way.
PackerInRussiaParticipant^Unfortunately I’m not old enough to remember that, but I get what you mean. I certainly don’t enjoy the physical wrestling matches and I appreciate the effort to curb that. It seems they’ve been able to get away from that somewhat if I’m remembering correctly. But to see whistle after whistle for tiny little things makes it almost as unwatchable for me. I don’t know if they’re being unreasonable or players just aren’t getting it or if I’m so used to the way it’s been played for so long that the little fouls don’t bother me, but should.
PackerInRussiaParticipantI haven’t read through all of the game threads, but what’s the take on the new points of emphasis by the officials? I haven’t seen any games other than ours. It’s making my eyes burn to watch whistle after whistle. Not sure how that makes the game better. Apparently they had this point of emphasis the beginning of last year and I vaguely remember, but it obviously didn’t stick all year. Are we going to be subject to constant whistles or are they eventually going to quit and let them touch each other a little? Will they start blowing whistles for intent to make contact? There have been some bad moments on the court; we don’t need it made worse by the striped ones.
Oh, and it was nice to see Rowan shuffle his feet and stay in front of his man on defense and not just be the guy that his man had to run by to get to the basket. Needs more improvement for sure, but loads better compared to the first game.PackerInRussiaParticipantHate it for Phil. That was a really nice TD that was taken away b/c of the penalty, too. He’s not the fastest guy on the field, but he knows how to make good use of his legs. My man should have known that PR is not going to be taking off for the end zone.
Speaking of a team letting their QB down, the performance by the Redskins’ receiving corp was shameful. Not that they were necessarily going to win or anything, but there were so many dropped passes, I have to wonder if the Patriots greased the ball or created an inverse magnetic field surrounding the ball or something (I have no idea what that even means; I just watch too much Star Trek). They were allergic to the ball. And it wasn’t just a few guys, it was almost every receiver/tight end/running back. Hard passes, soft passes, long passes, short passes, it didn’t matter. Not that anyone but me cares about the Redskins. Happy for the Panthers, though. I also liked when Julius Peppers acted like a jerk.
PackerInRussiaParticipantAlthough I worry folks will be confused by which “State” we are without the NC in front of it.
So, what you’re saying is that it would end up being a State of confusion.
11/03/2015 at 11:45 PM in reply to: Huzzah – Dave Doeren Answers BJD’s Last Remaining Questions Last Saturday #91445PackerInRussiaParticipantGood article/write-up/post. It didn’t strike me as out-of-the-norm watching the game as it seemed like the best thing to do, so it wasn’t surprising that it happened. But, you’re 100% correct that many would not go for the onsides kick at that juncture. Any time you do something that’s not normally done, you open yourself up for criticism as a coach. Most would probably rather just go the usual route and just leave it up to the players to execute. However, you’re right that it bodes well that Doeren would make tough calls that expose him to criticism for the sake of giving the team a better chance to win.
PackerInRussiaParticipantJust don’t let him get a moped, please.
PackerInRussiaParticipantI was listening to that Soundgarden song just the other day. In case you missed it from the other thread, this was an interesting stat from ESPN:
On each of the last 11 Halloween Saturdays, a ranked college football team was knocked off by an unranked opponent, including nine Saturdays in which multiple ranked teams went down.
Go Pack!
PackerInRussiaParticipantAnd probably not tCD’s most cryptic post either.
PackerInRussiaParticipantJust saw this on ESPN’s feed (Twitter?) on their website:
On each of the last 11 Halloween Saturdays, a ranked college football team was knocked off by an unranked opponent, including nine Saturdays in which multiple ranked teams went down.
