packbackr04Participant
sounds like Pitt is making a real run at Archie. heard its unlikely, but he is listening.
What does Dayton have coming back next year. i would think if he has a good team coming back he will stay one more year and get a better offer. If he doesnt have a good squad lined up for next year, he is probably more inclined to bolt this year.
packbackr04Participantempty the war chest to buy out Gott and get Archie. it will be WELL worth it
packbackr04Participantwe are one fluky game away from being winless in the ACC halfway through the conference slate. Its an embarassment and for Gott to hang it on the players is shameful. Its not all their fault. Sure the effort isnt there, but what do they have to play for? The problem is talent and depth. Both of which are the problems of the Head Coach. These kids, outside of Cat (and Abu recently), just arent very good and there is no bench. Ive been a fan of Gotts but I am really at a loss as to how he can explain this. At my job, its a “what have you done for me lately” type of thing… and Gott sure aint done much for me lately.
packbackr04ParticipantI just cant fathom that there is ZERO repercussions from this season Gott is putting on us? There have got to be consequences right?
packbackr04ParticipantCat is averaging 21.8 points a game…. if DSJ is averaging 21 points a game at this point next season i will owe you one HUGE apology.
packbackr04ParticipantI seriously doubt DSJ will be better than Cat is this year. And he will have the same pieces to work with so if you’re hoping for a big turnaround next year. Keep that in mind
packbackr04ParticipantNo offense is meant by this…. I think its pretty simple, they dont hit them because they just arent very good. Caleb would get no more than 5 mins (to give a starter a breather) on any other ACC team. Yet hes forced into 25 mins a game and you see the results. And that is on Gott not on Caleb.
packbackr04ParticipantRick or BJD, do yall think Gott would be looked at differently (by those in power) if he had not been given the extension right before the season started?
packbackr04ParticipantCaleb shooting 40%? hahahahahhahahahahaha!!!
Over the last 9 games Caleb Martin is shooting 22-80 from the field. That is 27.5%. He’s hit 13-60 from beyond the arc, for 22%
and while I agree Rowan is “capable” of hitting shots.
Over the last 9 games Mav Rowan is shooting 35-113. That is about 31% from the field. He’s hit 20-64 for 31% from 3 point range
packbackr04Participantthis thread was not meant to make people argue. I just got to thinking about the schedule and although statistically I think it would be impossible, I really dont see us winning another game all year. I mean, I am sure we will when someone has an off night and we get hot enough to eek out a 3 point win. But we are without doubt, the worst team in the league. Our effective FG% is dead last in the power5 conferences. Dead last. How on earth is that acceptable in year 5.
I just wonder if Yow had not given Gott the mystery extension 3 days before the season started for no reason at all would this conversation look the same today since the fiscal aspect of it would be entirely different . Its not like Gott had gotten alot of offers and we were going to lose him. So why offer the extension? I guess the connected folks all seem to think Yow is tethered to Gott and Doeren till her retirement but would a winless ACC season in year 5 not force her to reconsider Gott (for better or worse)? And if so, would that be such a bad thing for us as a program considering Archie is available?
packbackr04Participantso BJD, do you see any way DY is relieved of her duties?
packbackr04Participantsooooo.. you’re saying we should all hope he starts banging co-eds again?
packbackr04ParticipantI beg to differ, in year 5 its totally Gotts show. And he should have a better team than what he rolled out this year even with Henderson (imagine if he hadnt landed Rowan at the last minute, yikes). However, I started a forum thread for discussion on Gott so as not to hijack this one.
packbackr04Participantcould it get so bad this year that Gott is let go at seasons end? and part 2, could that possibly be the best possible scenario?
packbackr04Participanttouche Rick, touche
packbackr04Participantwishful thinking i believe WP92owen… she just gave Gott an extension like 3 days before this season started? I have no idea why, but weve got Gott for another few years.
I dont know HeelH8r, College of Charleston would probably look at em? Maybe Western Carolina? What other ACC team do you see anyone on this roster not named “Cat” getting any significant playing time on?
packbackr04Participanthahaha, we dont have anyone on our roster that is even remotely capable of going to the league other than Cat. Jason Pierre Paul has better hands than Anya and Abu (I assume those were the 2 you were referencing who had dreams of going to the NBA this year).
we will definitely lose 2-3 players this year, it will just be to transfers though.
packbackr04Participantother than Cat (and possibly Rowan who is a frosh and still needs some time to improve), we simply don’t have any div I starters on the roster. I look at the Twins, Anya, Freeman, and Abu and think to myself, “those are all 7,8,9 “depth type” players who should be getting 5-10 mins a game on a legitimate ACC team”. Yet they are forced into starting roles and playing 20-30 mins a game because thats all we got. I just feel bad for Cat b/c hes getting doubled all game and we just dont have any answers. All the kids seem to play hard, they just arent very good.
And all the above is on Gott. hes been a DI coach for a looonngg time. Theres really no excuse for it. Any chance we could get him to step aside so we can hire Archie this offseason?
01/13/2016 at 4:06 PM in reply to: Missouri basketball violations and self-imposed and NCAA sanctions #96828packbackr04Participantso are those self imposed or handed down from NCAA. If they came from NCAA, that cant be good for UNX
packbackr04ParticipantWe might go winless in league play. Put corch in for Christs sake. Someone on that team has to be able to hit a jumper more than 3 out of 10 times. 29% is pathetic. I was at uncg game and it was similarly disturbing
packbackr04ParticipantPoor Cat. How are the rest of those guys D1? What is our FG%
packbackr04ParticipantLedford is a good coach. and i guess its not a bad thing the Offensive coaches are leaving as it allows the new guy to bring in his own staff i guess.
…but what about the defense? no moves there?
packbackr04ParticipantWhy did gotta get an extension?
packbackr04ParticipantHow bad is abu?
packbackr04ParticipantWe suck, feel bad for Cat
