Completely inappropriate for Teddy. Thuggish really but Cincy is a thuggish program.

One of the biggest issues with officiating is there is no accountability. They are a self-regulated entity. Teddy’s boss has incentive to make his and every officials’ calls seem legitimate.

Jim Goodnight isn’t a sports fan for a reason…he’s above the pettiness of such a neanderthal human interest. Modern day gladiators.

Would need to change the bylaws of NCAA for the root issue to change. Until then just bring the lube b/c you don’t have to drop the soap when you’re State. It’s coming regardless.

Huge news. He was our best offensive linemen and plays the 2nd most important position in pro football. Arguably less important in college.

I don’t have the professional skills and experience necessary to intelligently decompose bad movies. I just know em’ when I see em’. Gott had a hit or two (Elite 8 run and recruiting splashes) overall ehhhhh.

He’s a really good recruiter and average coach. We knew this on day 1. I think most hoped he had a bad rap and would turn out a better coach…living on a prayer they don’t always get answered. For those who do not see his coaching limitations, I hear Lee Folwer is always looking a fishing buddy.

Gott has admitted several times that he must land top 10 classes each year to build the program he was hired for. Fine and dandy if it works. Problem is 2015 looks bleak. Much harder to recruit when your program is NIT bound.

Winning coaches on the other hand (Shaka Smart, Tony Bennet, Marshall) will have an easier time recruiting.

Assuming finances are not an issue (they are), you only fire Gott if 1) you are damm sure you can upgrade OR 2) he bombs 2015 recruiting next year and 2016 looks bleak.

Bad recruiting for someone who is a self admitted poor man’s Calipari/Roy is a LEADING indicator and would be foolish to wait for a LAGGING indicator (multiple losing seasons).

Would any of ya’ want your financial adviser to wait until the stock market plummets before selling if they had a good leading indicator to forewarn them?

Gottfried has really exposed himself this year. He can’t hide behind talented upperclassmen and NCAA dance invitations. We all know Gott underperformed last year. It also became apparent that Gott’s first-year team was a legitimate NCAA team….dozens of coaches would have taken them dancing. It is hard to fathom how bad Lowe was…he anchored our expectations.

To be fair, Gott has not been helped by officiating these past years. My sympathy diminishes when we lose to bad teams and play down to competition. I told a UNC alum at work that the loss likely kept us out of the tournament….who am I kidding? Look like a jackaxx saying that bogus stuff.

Shaka Smart is doing great. Tony B. is terrific. Jim L. doesn’t need 5 stars to win the ACC. Wichita Shockers have pooh on their pinky every time they play.

Gott’s snake oil is becoming harder to sell to recruits…2015 pipeline looks dry. Recruiting bunch of CA kids…different actor same Groundhog day.

Finally some of you are starting to realize that Gottfried is the producer of a BAD movie. It doesn’t take a professional movie critic to notice BAD movies. Some however like any dramatic movie they see….keep watching we will likely remain in purgatory for a few more years. Here’s why…

State will make the dance next year b/c we upgrade at every position save Warren’s. Trevor Lacey will be our best player (2 guard). Lewis and Cat are a top 10 PG duo (w/ Cat’s talent he has nowhere to go but up). Forwards have steepest learning curve and have developed nicely…they will be difference makers next year (BJ and Kyle are great talents and much much better than Vandy).

Will the better Martin twin claim Turner’s starting spot?? Even if not Turner will be improved hence an “upgrade”.

Gott can win if he has enough talent & experience to beat down superior coaching (Bennett, Jim L). I think his recruiting stalls out in 2015 class and we peak in 2-3 years and he’s fired in 4-5.

In a perfect world the AD would fire him as soon as the top-10 recruiting classes dry up (and they will) b/c this way we have a better carrot to hire a coach (i.e., we don’t wait until our talent level is Sendekian)…or if evidence suggest Archie is half as good as his older brother you hire whenever he calls….and he will call….to see if we will match/beat whatever BCS offer he gets whenever that is.

There is no such thing as a “culture” of winning or losing. TJ and company carry no baggage from years past. What they do endure is a legacy of unfair officiating. There is no conspiracy. The premium teams always get the calls in every league and on every level. MJ’s most famous poster was a shot following a push-off foul. Human nature is too flawed to make those tough calls against brand names.

Clemson and Purnell were screwed so many times against UNC I still feel extreme empathy to this day.

Even if we win this game, next year and the year after that the chips are stacked. We still will continue to lose more close games than we win…and of course the subtleties of officiating…only takes 1 bad call in any of the 40 minutes to turn the tide. So sure the path of least resistance for the human mind is to accept mainstream story-lines such as winning legacy or whatever intangible “plug” we use to fill in the residuals we can’t explain in our qualitative models of life.

I die a little bit inside each traumatic game I watch. Take 83′ back. We sold our soul to the devil and he’s taking his due. I feel depressed like I lost my first love. This is the most painful loss I’ve experienced since RW and Tom lost us to Maryland for ACC title trip. At least I was 3 sheets for that one. I’m sober as a judge. Feelings suck.

Thanks God for this forum. It is cathartic to post rants after each emotional devastation. I need at least 10 more before I can sleep. I’m out of xanex.

Rick is completely correct when he chastises basketball. It is an unfair sport. It will never be close to fair. Human nature/psychology is too fragile to objectively officiate on any level.

The only hope is reform. Why we don’t have officials reviewing monitors in the press box with both accountability and authority to promptly overturn calls, I have no idea.

I need therapy. I need professional help to cope with this season. Every year I become more emotionally detached but every year they find a way to push the NC State Sh*t envelope even further. You can’t run from this heartache.

This is 3rd game of year the refs stole in the final minute. Incredible even for NC State sh*t standards.

Why do our players not move on inbound plays? Shouldn’t 4 and 5 star players be able to inbound without too much effort? Coach….

Kyle and Vandy make the stupidest fouls. I actually have sympathy for refs when those two play they always drop their arms…what is so hard about that?

Besides a few lapses in transition, which were fully exploited, this is some of the best team defense we’ve played all year.

UNC is playing tough D themselves however.

50/50 chance to win this game.

Dez Less is just young. We are a young team Gott has stats to prove it. Look at the stats not at the product. Distract yourself from the atrocity on the floor. Never mind that last years team wasn’t young at all but had the same flaws. Those weren’t his kids. They were selfish or so we are told. The Kentucky freshman that won a championship were so precocious and selfless didn’t you know? Never mind you have a high IQ it takes an expert to distinguish a good movie from bad….errr ok average to be fair. Average movies with great casts can do well at the box office. Maybe next year.

Gott had a *wink wink* you’re going to start contract with Cat during the recruitment process. Can’t blame Gott for that the kid arguably has the highest ceiling on the team.

He’s underwhelmed so far. Lack of strength and not the brightest star in the sky. Being literate however hasn’t stopped PGs from succeeding. Rose is doing just fine. Future lottery pick if he stays 3-4 years.

When I watch a bad movie I can point out several flaws. I am not alone in this fact as many here could do the same. I have no training or education in producing film but there are some films I could improve. When I watch a great movie, however, I leave the cinema without much to say. Recently Captain Phillips comes to mind.

When I watch a good college basketball team, I similarly walk away without much to say, win or lose. I am no expert I can’t see subtleties. But when I see a bad team…I know it.

NC State is a bad 2-year movie folks. You know it and I know it. The only folks who don’t are the ones that like every movie they watch.

Is it too much to ask of a program with 2 national championships and 9 ACC titles and 1 of the highest paid coaches in ACC to always beat Clemson, even in a down year?

How many games over the past two years have we witnesses our team come out lethargic and disinterested?
