  • Suggest that State put their place kicker on the bench in street clothes and have the offense look over at him every time before they take the field.

Our “being ranked” collapse comes a week late?
DAMN, what a stinking pile the first half was. God Bless Hines; he’s the only one who’s showed up so far.
Crap! Sh!tty tackling, Gosh awful receiving. Usual pass (no) defense!

Please, please, please, can we have a different Wolfpack team on the field for the 2nd half? The one out there for the 1st half was putrid!

    Go Pack?

Oh, they block in the back right into the camera on their first touchdown with no call; then the patently awful ACC officials make up a call against us on our touchdown. Screw the ACC office of Officiating. Always Awful!!

There you go! Dovetails nicely with the NCAA’s stance on UNC’s policy of not actually requiring student athletes to attend classes. Can someone say LOOPHOLE? The NCAA should kindly permit all schools to make class attendance for student athletes (and others – NCAA frowns on academic fraud just for student athletes) voluntary if not disallowed altogether.
Any chance Braxton can claim he didn’t actually attend those classes?

It’s been a fun 3 days reveling in the big win Thursday night. The good: our resiliency to keep coming back after our mistakes. The bad: our mistakes. They didn’t cost us this time, but if we keep making them, they WILL cost us at some point.
What mistakes? Questionable play selection and/or poor execution in the red zone after looking so much better getting there. Giving up big plays – losing contain on several sweeps, broken pass coverage, iirc, on their last touchdown, but could have been a disastrous turning point.

Kudos to our QB and receivers. Best at State since Philip Rivers era! Our RBs. Great stable of HORSES! Our O-line is doing a great job with pass protection but they disappear too often on running plays. Some times I’d just like to see us run, run, and run some more!

Team focus, game to game, has been better than years past, for sure. They cannot let up. Too many smaller, lesser games lost by the red and white throughout our entire history to remind us to not OVERLOOK or LET DOWN against anybody!

Way to go, players and coaches! Keep pounding, Wolfpack!

What, there’s no beer sales inside? That can’t be right.
Oh, wait, I wouldn’t know – I always carried my liquor inside with me…but that was many, many years ago…
My freshman year, they still played in Riddick Stadium!

I think most veterans would agree that kneeling during the National Anthem is disrespecting those that have worn the uniform and in particular those that have paid the ultimate price.

Most veterans also generally vote for the party that is most likely to send them into harm’s way for good reason or bad. Veterans have been “indoctrinated” by their leaders who depend on war (and threat of war) for their advancement through the ranks.

The supremely disrespectful stance toward any country’s service people (those who fight and are wounded, captured, or killed) is to send them into harm’s way without a damn good and justified reason. Self enrichment or to stay in office is NOT a valid reason. Neither is American imperialism or the denial of self rule to the “enemy.” Yes, I watched Burns et al’s Viet Nam War. And I lived through that period but, fortunately, did not have to go there… or Canada (although, I did go to Buffalo for a couple of years and from there, visited Toronto <g>).

Did anybody else notice the fall down of our passing game from previous performances? Were their defenders that much better than others we have faced, or was our entire team slower in this game? Remember Nyheim Hines getting caught from behind?
A lot of our passes were dropped due to very heavy coverage, ie, no separation at all between receiver and defender. Was Finley not seeing his open receivers or was there no such thing?

Our (total lack of) pass defense is going to be the death of us.

As for Chubb’s leadership, why did he wait until the end of the 3rd quarter to show it? The start of the 3rd quarter would have been a good time to ignite the team.

Gosh, no, please don’t put us in the top 25 right before we play the ‘Ville. KOD for sure. I prefer that we earn the ranking Thursday night! Please L’ville, don’t pass the ball.

A protest is not”disrespecting the flag” anymore than not supporting a war is not supporting the troops.

This very well might be the most preposterous thing I’ve ever read on SFN.

We MUST be on different pages.. let me just let you clarify.. which protest are you speaking of?

Surely you aren’t speaking about the protest where the football players do not stand to show their respect for the flag and national anthem? Because THAT protest… well… that’s their entire point of the protest. Not sure how to drive this home to you. Disrespecting the flag IS the fVcking protest!

This is why we can have an intelligent discussion.. absolute truth just gets entirely perverted, warped, and ultimately disregarded.

No, ATroll, it’s not different pages…it’s different wavelengths. Different planets. Different races. Different life experiences. So much untruth in what you say here and then you speak of absolute truth? Many blacks of all walks of life, including NFL players and most certainly some of NC State’s black athletes, are simply tired of seeing unarmed black men being shot and killed by police even when they may be INNOCENT, even when they OBEY the officer’s commands. Many whites are also protesting this. If you think this is not happening, you are either not paying attention or some bias within you blinds you to this ABSOLUTE FACT.
The protesting players are doing so in a respectful manner. You may not like it but you should be able to understand the need they feel to do SOMETHING to shine a light on racial inequity under the law, and kneeling instead of standing for the National Anthem is a way of making that statement. You want to protest this inequity another way? What do you suggest?
I think their protest is valid and on point and I support them in it. Those standing and those kneeling are all Americans and all of them are exercising their rights.

My take on the Pack’s win over Fla State:

Ryan Finley is not getting near enough credit for his coolness, accuracy, and steady play.
Receiver corps is not getting enough credit for their ability to catch the occasional errant pass or for their YAC.
Very fortunate that Fla State has not played their full slate of games – they were rusty.
Very fortunate Seminoles did not throw downfield more than they did.
Bradley Chubb played lights out – this game! Too bad he didn’t against USC. Very poor sportsmanship to spit on Fla State logo when game was over. Don’t need thug mentality on display.
Never did see Fla State get called for holding on their sweeps – it was blatant and repetitive.
No missed PATs or field goals for the pack today? Gosh!

What else can you say? Not blemish free, but a great win for the Wolfpack! Finally!!! Keep working hard and improving.

Going out on a limb here, but I say we win at least one more game this season.

Depth and experience touted in Doeren’s fifth year should mean something beyond starting 11s. And SC is young team according to announcers.
Tackling has been a problem since Doeren arrived four years ago. Watch SC’s tackling compared to NCS’s. Much surer. Less escapes. Less YAC. Cannot overstate importance of solid tackling and blocking or lack of it.

Watching the game a second time with lots of rewinds to see missed blocks and tackles. Much worse than watching it the first time. Did the O-line block anybody during the game? They were terrible in the first half and totally ran out of gas in the second half to make it even worse. Amazing job our quarterback, runners, and receivers did considering it was them against two or three white jerseys that had barely been touched before getting to them.

Our vaunted defensive line? Did they stay in Raleigh? They did not show up the entire game and should have been riding the bench early in the game while being read the riot act by their coaches. Doeren asked the team at halftime; is this our best? He should have been asking himself; are these our best players? I have to believe that somebody on the team just wants a chance to show what they can do. I say give it to them. NOW, not next year.

I’ve seen good coaches at NC State and I’ve seen some bad ones. I’ve not seen bad ones turn into good ones. DD talks a good coaching game but on the field nothing ever changes. Yes, Finley made some really good passes and several receivers made some outstanding catches (some by catching passes that were well off target), but run blocking was absent, and where in the hell was a pass rush by the D line? D secondary was as bad as usual…no, worse, and that’s saying something.Tackling under Doren has been gosh awful. Even worse today than usual. (U)SC had somebody to light a fire under them and they played like it. Under Doren, we/NCSU have not had that type of fire in the belly energy and effort for a complete game. Our second halves last year and today should tell anybody who’s paying attention that a good coach is not going to have his team taken to the woodshed by a team that comes out better prepared for the second half because of adjustments the other coach makes at halftime.

Yep, different year and groundhog day all over again. Woe is us.
