Participant“a semester in Divinity School” does not a preacher make. I say punch away.
MrPlywood
ParticipantSo C’dog, what goes on in the Pack locker room right now? How DO you keep the guys on a relatively even keel so they can maintain the same intensity in the second half?
MrPlywood
ParticipantTalking heads need to settle down, Doeren is means the same thing re: “controlling emotion”.
MrPlywood
ParticipantYo Pakfan, is that the same guy who was really leaning into Cat on picks? I saw a couple go uncalled when one of their bigs was going over the line on “holding his ground”, put Cat on the floor at least once.
MrPlywood
ParticipantWhat was that call? I do not get.
MrPlywood
ParticipantThat Cat I like. The one on 4 Cat I don’t like.
MrPlywood
ParticipantThank you refs, for a game with no flow.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI don’t know what constitutes a *tweet* *tweet*… dammit, even I got called for a charge! These refs are tough.
MrPlywood
ParticipantNice close out. Well done, well won.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI like the way Abu tracked that ball down and threw the quick out pass, resulting in another swing pass and the score.

ParticipantAndy Katz’ article had a not so subtle dig at the Holes:
“The stats don’t lie. And the mythical nature of the Butler way truly has power.”
I wish he had capitalized “Way” though.

ParticipantI’m involved with a group (which is aligned with a couple of larger groups) that are pushing to have our municipality council meetings broadcast via webcasting, with the resulting video archived for future reference. There have been many cases where the minutes of meetings have been whitewashed, with many pertinent comments – quite a few with legal ramifications – not appearing in the official record. Our carefully crafted arguments and comments were essentially reduced to “Resident X spoke about the issue.”
We also found out that the digital audio recording used to create the minutes is deleted once the minutes are drafted. A permanent video record would take care of that. The other aspect that video would convey is the overall tenor of the meetings and the emotions of the various speakers. When reading the minutes – whitewashed or not – it’s hard, if not impossible, to ascertain any of that.
Again, not life or death, but a comparison to illustrate the power of a video record. As with police encounters, I think that the positives would far outweigh the negatives.
MrPlywood
Participant“None! He had enough in the way of witnesses to negate the speculative value of an audio/video recording.”
Since we’re on a sports forum, the comparison to video review is clear. Plenty of the times the officials – witnesses if you will – call it one way, when the video review shows a clearer angle and the call is overturned. Of course, there are the times that the video is inconclusive or supports the original call. But the point is to use any and all means possible to “get it right”.

ParticipantPoor Holes were all tuckered out after having to actually attend classes.
MrPlywood
ParticipantuNX is classless, a description that is both literal and figurative.
MrPlywood
ParticipantHad to get some outdoor work done, it’s nice to come back to this score.
MrPlywood
ParticipantWhere’s my edit button? If anyone is interested, you can watch TJ score 12 points in the first 6 minutes of the game, including two 3 pointers.
MrPlywood
ParticipantSide note: Buckets scored 40 in the his D-League debut tonight. He won’t be there long.

Participant^This, and regarding the DTH, despite the title of the OP and don’t think they student paper has ever been an apologist for athletics, and I think they’d like nothing better than to help break more of the story and/ or keep the pressure on.
MrPlywood
ParticipantThanks for the color commentary. I’m looking forward to the season. Re: defense – IMO that’s an area where effort is contagious. Hopefully these kids will feed of each other.
I skipped to the photo before reading the last bit of your post, and said to myself “I really like the size of Tuffy there” 🙂

ParticipantHad to step out and just got back in time to see a replay of the pick six, I thought it was live! Ack! Not again!
MrPlywood
ParticipantI agree wufpup76, this is the antithesis to the “not that close” kind of score. State leads in every offensive category except for rushing (151/119), just had the two lighting strikes hit them. I was fully expecting State to be up 20-14, and who knows what happens from there.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI didn’t see the hold…
MrPlywood
Participant68, State was 2nd and goal at GT 5, pass was bobbled, kicked by GT players foot, intercepted, run back to State 28 where Samuels stripped the ball and recovered, State ball. Two plays later GT got the pick 6.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI’m seeing something different. IMO the O was playing with confidence, they were knocking on the door when the first interception happened, after getting a 4 down conversion. The pick 6 was a poor pass no doubt. But the fumble and return was just another bad luck ball bouncing right to GT. Two steps forward, 2 TDs back.
