ParticipantCongrats Pack! I had to go out in the bottom of the 10th, I was downtown and the mobile site wouldn’t load, had to wait til I got back to see the score. Now bring it home boys.

ParticipantRead the comments to reinforce why you despise all things Cheats.

ParticipantWinston’s crab legs tweet speaks volumes about his decision making skills. I’m sure the Bucs were thrilled with that.

ParticipantYo JG, I’ve looked but not found anything. Maybe someone with an “in” could give us a clue. I did find a vid from his high school days in PA. Better quality vid, and he shows a nice range of shots around the basket, including some nice jump hooks, turnarounds, and a soft jumper. And of course the requisite slams and alley oops against shorter competition 🙂

ParticipantOne of my favourite comrades from the homeland, Olya Povlatsky. Word has it that she’s a potential recruit for women’s bball. Better to play for the Wolfpack than have wolves in your window.

ParticipantHold the phone, Cal just called.
MrPlywood
ParticipantAnd 5 more years ’til we get Donovan.

ParticipantYour gnome is an insensitive representation of little people.
MrPlywood
ParticipantWhiteville High is also home to the Wolfpack. Too much juju for Cal to overcome…

ParticipantI bet his coach is heart broken.
He thought he was getting tickets next to Ashley.

ParticipantPitching in the bottom of the 8th down 6 runs is a good low pressure place to get your feet wet. 🙂
MrPlywood
ParticipantWell there you go.

ParticipantI can imagine numerous ways to title the post which would have been more accurate. The current title veers toward the NCSS variety, (a concept I don’t believe in and wish would die a quick, painful death) similar to the Trea Turner post which actually used NCSS in the title.
“Latest BBall Commit to Reconsider”, or “Shaun Kirk to Reconsider” are very accurate titles that do not editorialize. Kirk hasn’t made a final decision yet, so State is still in the running. If he goes to Kentucky, he goes. It’s not fair to include Ingram’s decision since anyone following his recruiting knew that State was a longshot, regardless of whether or not Gott had been on to him early in the game.
MrPlywood
ParticipantAnd to compound the situation, I strongly suspect Calipari is motivated more by his hopes to land Kirk’s teammates DS Jr. and Bam Bam rather than the kid’s talent.
Or as Coach Eric Taylor called it, a “calf/cow deal”… Buy the calf, get the cows.
MrPlywood
ParticipantWho came up with this post title? And how is it even remotely accurate?

ParticipantWhat do the last two coaching searches tell you about the desirability of the NC State job?
This has probably (as in a 99.9% probability) been discussed before, but I think our two rivals to the west have as much impact on attracting a coach as anything. That only thing the team can do about that is beat them, which they did this year, including the beat down AT unx. Any coach has to have the stones to want to compete with the blues (see Smart, Shaka). The same goes for recruits. Knowing how we got Gott, I think we’ve done pretty well. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t expect more, because I think more is achievable.

ParticipantBecause highlight reels always show the misses 😉
Also this, sounds like a song I’ve heard before:
“His weaknesses are on the defensive end he needs to be able to grab rebounds out of his area and he needs to stay out of foul trouble. But when he wants to, he’s a great rim protector.”

ParticipantI just think that like the garden thread, every season starts with a newly furrowed field, regardless of what grew well the year before.
You could also liken a successful program to a tree farm, in that once it’s established, you’ve always got a mature crop every year. Although now the landscape has changed from having good strong older hardwoods to planting and harvesting quick to grow and harvest softwoods. The trick is to get the program/crop established. If you constantly have to deal with acid rain, pine beetles, hurricanes, Dutch Elm and the like that can be a tough task. So you plant some trees that will take longer to grow but are disease and pest resistant, graft a few, and go after one or two of those fast growing varieties that might only last one season.
And yes, I remember BOTH versions of MacArthur Park 🙂
MrPlywood
ParticipantMaybe because State is late to the game with this guy? I dunno, feels like a longshot to me. I watched some vids and didn’t see a lot TBH.
MrPlywood
Participantre: the Ville game and the discussion of The Missed Opportunity… why am I reminded of the lyrics to “MacArthur Park”?
“Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again, oh noooooo!!!”MrPlywood
Participantspew Diet Dew
That might well have been part of Cat’s itinerary too…
