MrPlywoodParticipant
“Really wish Gott would find out what Moore is spiking the Gatorade with and order a case for the men.”
I’m not sure it’s a player problem on the men’s side. Moore is enjoying this success with the hand he was dealt, no waiting for “his players” to get into the system.
But I don’t want to Bogart the convo – the women are due congrats and well-deserved. They represent the university every bit as much as any other team.
MrPlywoodParticipantWTH? You guys were supposed to hold down the fort!
MrPlywoodParticipantI’m out for the rest of the game. Hold down the fort. Go #Vandwagon!
MrPlywoodParticipant#Vandwagon with the Eurostep. What’s the problem?
MrPlywoodParticipant#VandWagon with an early 8 and 5? Keep it going…
01/15/2014 at 5:13 PM in reply to: ESPN to feature UNC Academics Scandal on OTL tonight at 6pm #36956MrPlywoodParticipant^ At the bottom of that article is a the blurb for this segment on tonight’s news at 6: “Willingham outs the GPA of UNC players in the 2013 Belk Bowl”
I can’t watch so someone please post the deets after it airs.
01/14/2014 at 7:40 PM in reply to: ESPN to feature UNC Academics Scandal on OTL tonight at 6pm #36881MrPlywoodParticipantAlpha are those quotes from the show? I get most ESPN online content up here, but have a feeling this one will be blocked. TSN might actually run this show.
01/14/2014 at 5:25 PM in reply to: ESPN to feature UNC Academics Scandal on OTL tonight at 6pm #36866MrPlywoodParticipantI can hear the victim angle now…
“Even the hallowed University of North Carolina, the flagship of the UNC system with standards so high the institution became known as the nation’s preeminent ‘public Ivy’, has succumbed to the unending pressure of the need to succeed on the playing field. The reputation of this fine center of higher learning has been compromised and sullied by a few wayward rogues and is a wake-up call to the UNC system, if not the entire country’s educational system. Our thoughts and prayers go with the hardworking administrators, professors and coaches at UNC who over the years have strived to do things the right way, ‘The Carolina Way’.”
01/14/2014 at 4:34 PM in reply to: ESPN to feature UNC Academics Scandal on OTL tonight at 6pm #36860MrPlywoodParticipantSomeone should let Skipper know that there’s a big difference between “earning” your degree and “receiving” your degree.
And they’re still beating that drum, with Hairston’s latest quote: “I am excited to continue to pursue my degree at UNC while also pursing my dream of becoming a professional basketball player,” Hairston said.
01/12/2014 at 11:26 PM in reply to: NFL Divisional Playoffs / college b-ball etc. Open Thread #36757MrPlywoodParticipantI’ll say NE over Denver, Seattle beats Niners, Seattle wins the whole thing.
MrPlywoodParticipantI can’t stand Jim Harbaugh. AFA the 49ers, they barely beat the Packers and their decimated defense. I expect the S’Hawks to win.
MrPlywoodParticipant#beatdown
MrPlywoodParticipant#CatnotreadyforNBA
MrPlywoodParticipant#letdown
MrPlywoodParticipant^If we had “vote up” capability, I’d vote that up. 🙂
MrPlywoodParticipant#VandWagon
#meanmugginMrPlywoodParticipant^Oh, the irony of Roy saying “It’s not fair.”
MrPlywoodParticipant“In the last ten years we have only had one senior not graduate”
That “stat” is a constant source of amusement. Just listening to graduate Tyler Hansbrough struggle with “Chicken Little” tells you all you need to know about the rigorous Public Ivy education he received.
MrPlywoodParticipant“In the meantime, Willingham said she has heard from one branch of the university — the Department of Public Safety. Since CNN’s report, Willingham said she’s gotten four death threats, and more than 30 other alarming messages.”
Classy move Holes.
MrPlywoodParticipant^Amazing what happens when they actually have to abide by [some] rules. McDonald shouldn’t be playing either, not that he helped much tonight.
Here’s more national coverage for uNX courtesy of our good friend Mary Willingham:
http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/07/us/ncaa-athletes-reading-scores/index.html
She says:
“As a graduate student at UNC-Greensboro, Willingham researched the reading levels of 183 UNC-Chapel Hill athletes who played football or basketball from 2004 to 2012. She found that 60% read between fourth- and eighth-grade levels. Between 8% and 10% read below a third-grade level.
“So what are the classes they are going to take to get a degree here? You cannot come here with a third-, fourth- or fifth-grade education and get a degree here,” she told CNN.Yet somehow these dudes graduated? The onion is being peeled back one layer at a time.
MrPlywoodParticipantI think foose might call this a moral loss.
MrPlywoodParticipantZero penetration. Ugly.
MrPlywoodParticipantThat arena is amazingly quiet.
MrPlywoodParticipantIs Cat trying to impress some NBA scouts? ‘Cause he’s far from ready.
MrPlywoodParticipantOne hell of a game there.
