MPParticipant
It’s like f***ing kindergarten around here ffs
Speaking of which, Keatts should threaten that one of his family members will beat up Archie Miller’s dad.
MPParticipantI mean Jesus H. Christ, the guy doesn’t know the difference between Rain Man and Running Man
Kudos to you for actually reading that far down.
MPParticipantHe was there. So you all seem to think the head recruiter knew nothing about hookers being hired for the very players he was recruiting.
How naive.Interesting… I wonder why the powers that be who preferred him did not focus on this. Particularly if they are as risk-averse as being portrayed.
MPParticipantHe has a clean reputation with no baggage
I’m confused… Rick said he’s immoral. WHICH IS IT???
MPParticipanta “One Last Time” performance in Greensboro
Speaking of getting back on meds… The game is in Syracuse.
MPParticipantit ain’t becoming when it becomes a theme.
I agree in concept. Although understanding it would require bothering to read 12 incoherent pages.
MPParticipantjust so he can hear himself laugh
How’s that old saying go – “Douchebags gonna douche”.
It’s an urban expression. May have originated in Durham.
MPParticipantDaggum straight.
This FSU – L’Ville game is interesting so far.
MPParticipantAnd YES, I closed, then deleted, your cesspool thread, and I apologize for letting it fester that long. NO MOAR of that, please.
Hey now, the self-righteous moralizing was at least driving traffic on the site.
Nice views of Boone and ASU cheerleaders to open things up today!
MPParticipantI have met him once or twice over the years
My wife and I were inside the club beverage area during halftime of the 2011 Belk Bowl, when I look to my left and see David Thompson walking our way a few feet away. Note that I am (slightly) too young to have seen DT play, and my wife is younger than me and no college basketball fan. I say “It’s David Thompson!” to my wife. As he approaches, I stick out my hand and say “Hello Mr. Thompson, I’m [MP]”. As he shakes my hand, I say “And this is my wife, []”. He shakes her hand, with a somewhat bemused expression, and he keeps walking in the herd of people.
My wife then asked me, “Who is David Thompson?”
We have laughed about that story ever since. Of course, I did my best to explain to her that she shook the hand of the greatest college basketball player of all time.
MPParticipantnice appliances (that work)
LOL.
MPParticipant‘Something’ had to happen along Hillsborough Street. I don’t love the traffic circles, but they are tolerable as part of the overall changes. The best things about Hillsborough pre-change were (a) Mitch’s; (b) Sadlack’s; (c) Players Retreat. At least two of those still exist. Long live Mitch’s!
MPParticipantTwo days shy of a full month without a new post. Exciting times!
MPParticipantCat Goes Undrafted
This is a clear sign that Gott is a substandard coach and even worse human being.
05/20/2016 at 12:48 PM in reply to: NC State Basketball Scholarship Distribution & Discussion #103748MPParticipantJust imagine how the last five years could have looked if State could’ve kept:
Let me guess: Two Sweet 16’s, two other NCAAT appearances, and one missed NCAAT.
MPParticipantThere was a question on another thread regarding how national seeds are determined and how RPI is used for same. Essentially, just like basketball tourney seeding, RPI is only one metric used. To be honest, I don’t know specifically what they weight more or less. They look at RPI as a guide, but it is definitely not the end all…
Shhhhhhhhh. Don’t tell VaWolf.
MPParticipantIn 2006 I cheered for our ranked team to beat UNC at home and watched us get drilled by over 20. I cheered for us in the ACCT that year to watch us lose in the 1st round. I cheered for us against Texas in the NCAAT in what became another 20-point drubbing.
All while developing an increasing loathing for Herb Sendek.
I guess I’m one of the fools around here.
MPParticipantGottfried tabs Pierre as new assistant coach
I just thought I would repeat the title of this thread. I’ve gotten so lost in the discussion that I have forgotten if we are supposed to be happy about this or not.
MPParticipantSpeaking only for myself, I’m not saying I wouldn’t want PR as a coach if it ever becomes apparent that he ACTUALLY CAN COACH.
I wish people around here wouldn’t be so unreasonable.
MPParticipant^^ You’re always such a sweetheart. The basic question is this:
Do those in the know assume Woodson is going to let Yow run the course of her contract, regardless of the Men’s Basketball product we put on the floor? – i.e. Does she have job security through the end of her contract?
MPParticipantInstead of talking about Gott specifically, why should Yow not be fired this summer? The thinking seems to be:
(1) Starting point: Some say we need a coach now and others assume at the end of next year;
(2a) Yow is overly tied to Gott so she is unlikely to fire him;
(2b) Even if she weren’t, nobody wants her to be the one to lead a search;
(3) Therefore we cannot consider replacing our coach until the year Yow retires, or probably the year after since the new AD would otherwise have to fire Gott on his 1st day on the job.Shouldn’t we expect Woodson to understand this?
MPParticipantOn topic: Hate to hear about the twins leaving. But good points on their expectations and the players we have in place for their position(s).
Off topic(?): SMH.
MPParticipant– Pitino may be gone as soon as the tournament is over.
It will be interesting who they pursue if this comes to pass. If Archie Miller’s agent is tuned in to this possibility, why the heck would he even consider Pitt…?
MPParticipantI looked over KenPom’s ranking. I have to question anything that ranks Wichita St as #12 in the country.
Sigh. SFN, home of snark. Was it you that has blasted posters for cherry picking data in the past?
To answer your question, my input on advanced metrics is to say I don’t know what other information the committee would use other than what I listed; well also ESPN BPI. Yes I “like” this data, but if someone were to inform me of other advanced metric data the committee may have used I may like that as well.
Do with it what you want.
MPParticipantI’m not sure how to take this talk about “advanced metrics”. What are they? When are they used?
Best sources I’m aware of are KenPom and associated the “Four Factors” concept regularly used by BTP. Also the player efficiency and ‘win shares’ concepts on (I think) Basketball Reference. I like more data in general, so I think highly of “advanced metrics”, but other people may say they would disregard data in order to make their own assessments.
Directly quoted from Steven Muma at BTP today re: NCSU Women’s team, and relevant to your question:
“The RPI is a terrible metric, regardless of what anyone hopes to capture with it. It is inherently broken. It should not carry the weight it does, not in 2016 when we have found countless superior ways to evaluate teams. We still live in a world of RPI-as-tiebreaker and it’s hurting college basketball. I’ve come to terms with it, but I don’t have to like it.
NC State’s women’s basketball team did not earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. I thought they should have been in the tournament, but I’m biased. I think the death blow was a 1-8 record against RPI top 50 teams, but RPI ignores the actual legitimate quality of teams, given that RPI is calculated by your idiot cousin breaking a calculator over his knee and squinting the results.”
Ha… Take that as you wish.
