WTH? Hard to play tough defense with 6 or 7 player, without serious foul trouble, in the ACC, if you’re wearing a red jersey.
Thankful for the fortunate finish. One of the few times I have ever felt confident going into that type of situation. Gott has consistently had great baseline inbound play calls.

mowog67ParticipantStarting Cody Martin has really helped settle the team down by cutting down on all the heat checks and showing more of commitment to getting the ball down low…working inside out.
mowog67ParticipantThat was the game plan this team can win with. Props for a fresh look on offense. A little ball control, less 3s, more shots at the basket, and capitalize on the teams strength…offensive rebounding.
mowog67ParticipantThat nightmare in Orange County has been lurking in the back of my mind this week.
mowog67ParticipantYou can’t hang this squarely on the players. They are thin and less talented than some teams in the league, but there is enough there to compete, IMO. The staff needs to scrap their game plan and tailor something for the group of players on hand. Start with cutting down on possessions with quick 3s that tend to lead to fouls in the post or fast breaks the other way. This team is a good offensive rebounding team. Maybe emphasize getting to the basket and putting it up on the rim. If it’s missed maybe someone will get the stick back. It’s better than trying to control missed 3s and being forced into quick defensive transitions. Maybe save a little energy along the way as an added benefit.
mowog67ParticipantAnother night at the Mason lodge. Is there no limit to Caleb Martin’s green light?

Does playing tougher defense lead to less energy on the offensive end of the floor?
mowog67ParticipantIn an attempt to stay positive, I believe there was some improvement shown last night. Some signs of better ball movement, a few less ill advised 3s and, IMO, Kirk put in a few good minutes in the first half.
Still plenty to drive me crazy from individual players and especially coaches, but I’ll hold my tongue on that stuff. This staff has a knack for getting the team playing it’s best ball late. Likely going to be too little, too late this year but I’ll just wait and see and hope they earn some respect along the way.
mowog67ParticipantSo many problems. Where to even start?
mowog67ParticipantLikely the first of several league games to be lost at the line.
BJ could be a big time star if he could only knock down the FT. As it is, he is a liability in crunch time.
Not a good looking team in the 2nd half.
mowog67ParticipantSpeaking of early departures……this team COULD consist of Cat, Trevor and TJ on the wing. Think about that! Just the way of the day.
mowog67ParticipantI’m not getting too caught up in this team. They’ve got such a long way to go before being ready for the ACC schedule. My biggest concerns are depth, shot selection and free throw shooting. And that’s just scratching the surface. Lots to work on. Gott is a dang magician if he can get this team in the NCAA.
