MISTA WOLFParticipant
I attended the game for some freaking reason or another. Playing in Winston Salem is our personal purgatory, whether it be football or basketball. I had the upmost pleasure to sit 10 rows behind the bench and heard a lot of things that are not good for a team at this point in the season. Guys were bickering and calling each other out and arguing with the coach. During the very first media timeout (15:00 minute mark), Gott broke a clipboard in half, threw an expo marker and challenged the guys to help and recover on defense.
Needless to say we know how that worked the rest of the half letting me know that:
a) he has no control
b) you cant execute what your not taught
c) what the coach is selling the kids aren’t buying OR
d) all of the above
I’m personally leaning towards answer d.
It also blows my mind how easy it is for our opponents to score while for us to score it takes a miracle. With the speed we have at point I dont understand why we don’t run 5 out motion with simple principles built into it. Leave the paint open to penetrate and pitch or to penetrate and finish. In my 31 years of being a Wolfpack fan, this has to be the most embarrassed I’ve ever felt to don the red and white in public.MISTA WOLFParticipant15-0 is our ceiling while 10-3 is our low. I’m so ready for fall to return.
MISTA WOLFParticipantThe hard part is, with all the touch fouls being called, is that we are not able to play aggressively on defense. That has simply killed us. Take us out of our element where we can’t pressure the ball and we are done for. Our guys can’t sag on defense in man or play zone for the most part correctly.
MISTA WOLFParticipantThe only thing in basketball that is consistent for us is inconsistent. We shoot a lot of perimeter shots. Maybe if we took it inside and used a pump fake here and there, we could get some of these calls we need. Hess is living vicariously through his peers.
MISTA WOLFParticipantI love the dick pic of Gott 🙂
MISTA WOLFParticipantI’m OK with the hail Mary because you play to win. With that being said, there should have been a personnel switch as far as Martin goes. No way in hell am I throwing the ball to the man that is being guarded by Jeilan Grant. He should have switched with someone and let them run that rout.
MISTA WOLFParticipantAs a high school basketball coach, a win is a win, no matter how pretty or ugly it is. Thank God, tell them we’ve got work to do and get prepared for Miami.
MISTA WOLFParticipantLunatic Fringe is on high. No foods with cholesterol for the rest of the evening. Go Pack!!
MISTA WOLFParticipantRoo,
You’re right my friend. The first half started with a Duke hangover. Our guys didn’t look engaged at first and there was a lot of passing around the perimeter without getting the ball inside. We play a lot better when we play inside/out as which most teams do. I will give some credit to the Sky Blue B*tches for keeping us out of the paint. We also missed some easy looks when we got them and of course that dampens confidence levels especially in young men.
Offensively a lot of times we run motion. I understand a lot of times it’s ran because it’s what kids know. I blame AAU ball. AAU ball has ruined what most of us know of the game. Instead what I think we need to do is have some controlled motion set plays at the beginning of the game to get the guys moving. Once we do that I believe it will help them begin to move more naturally in plain old motion. We do have set plays for perimeter shots.
Hopefully the guys have gained some confidence from the last 3 games and keep the bar high and keep building on it like you said. If the last 3 games we’ve played haven’t helped us with poise and confidence nothing will. We played with 3 of the 4 best teams in the league for most of the game. We need to go 4-2 in the next six games. The only game that terrifies me is the trip to Winston. In the final 7 games we need to go 4-3. I believe it’s doable. If we go 8-5 the rest of the way we’re dancing. Anything less and we will be sweating it out. Of course we can just win the ACC Tournament 🙂
MISTA WOLFParticipantI think we didn’t play well last night and lost by 1. 5 years ago if we didn’t play well we would lose by 20+. That my friends is a positive. We must go at least 4-2 or better in our next 6 games to give us a shot of getting into the dance. GO F’N PACK!!
MISTA WOLFParticipantDuke: (Master Splinter) My sons! *sigh* My sons, If you are to become true ninja you must work harder. Your path in life will not be an easy one. The outside world will not be a friendly place for you.
Pack: (“Gott”father) “Many young men started down a false path to their true destiny. Time and fortune usually set them aright.”
Sky Blue B*tches: (Gargamel) “How can I be brilliant when I’m surrounded by dumb-dumbs?! Dadgumit!!!”
MISTA WOLFParticipantFML x1000
MISTA WOLFParticipantEvery time they say Abu I immediately think of Aladdin.
MISTA WOLFParticipantGot to go back to man D since Duke has started stroking the ball.
MISTA WOLFParticipantCade Carney and Kennedy McCoy are extra special. If you get an opportunity next season you should definitely check them out if you live in the Winston Salem area. Those two guys are men among kids on the field.
MISTA WOLFParticipant82% from the line. Take Anya out of the equation and I believe we were 16/17 from the line. Wowza!!
MISTA WOLFParticipantPicked by the seniors yes, but this combo was picked because this is the biggest game of our season, let alone the biggest of DD’s tenure. A win all but locks up a bowl game which guarantees at least another month of practice. This game is extremely crucial to the program. We all know we are going to be Carolina’s bowl game this season so the Wake game is a MUST.
MISTA WOLFParticipantBunting and Davis already have said they knew of the paper classes. Roy says he is clueless. BS. So they’re telling us that the teachers wanted the players to stay eligible more so than the coaches and that the coaches are of no wrong doing. I cried from laughing.
“I can safely say that the scope of the 20-year UNC fraud scandal easily takes the prize for the largest and most nefarious scandal in the history of NCAA enforcement. The depth and breadth of the scheme — involving counselors, coaches, academic administrators, faculty, athletic administrators, et cetera — eclipses any previous case.”

SMU death sentence x2
MISTA WOLFParticipantWuf and Yogi,
I’m not picky so I would settle for either one of your ideas. Having both of your options would be a lot sweeter 🙂
MISTA WOLFParticipantI’m very antsy for basketball to start as well and that doesn’t mean I’m disregarding the football team. I know you guys aren’t disregarding the football team, but basketball just means something more to me for some reason. Cheers to being in Charlotte on the 30th of December, listening to the Pack beat down Cincy in Raleigh on the radio and being liquor drunk because it’s going to be freezing watching the Pack dominate some SEC squad at 6:30 in the Belk Bowl. Now there is some wishful thinking.
Damn I love me some run-on sentences!!
MISTA WOLFParticipantLike I said yesterday, the kid is going to be Woody Dantzler 2.0. We are going to hate his ass for the next few years.
MISTA WOLFParticipant1 step forward 2 steps back. Unfortunately, its part of the process.
10/03/2014 at 3:47 PM in reply to: Where Does NC State Football Go From Here? I’ve Got Some Questions for You #57849MISTA WOLFParticipantWill NC State be emotionally ready after a hard-fought FSU game?
I hope so. We showed great effort last week and I believe the staff will have them ready. All is not lost and I hope the guys know that. I think the fans at Carter gave them something to believe in with the ovation that got after the FSU game. How will the young NC State team handle a hostile Death Valley?
They have to play Clemson not the fans like what was stated by Wufpacker. Play the team on the field, remember the concepts while on field and do your best to get them to sit on their a$$es and shut up. One of my favorite things is to see Coach Venables have a brain aneurysm on the sideline. Cheers to seeing his jugular explode. Will the offensive line be able to hold of Clemson’s experienced front 7?
Jacoby is going to have to make plays with his legs like last week. Beasley will be beaming down on him from the strong side all game long. Since Beasley is a bull rusher, I’m hoping we throw some short screens to the TE or HB’s right behind like we did last week. With his push and ability to get in the backfield, there will be green grass on his backside. Feel the void.
Is Deshaun Watson that good or was UNC’s defense that bad?
Woody Dantzler 2.0 will be hated by us for the next 4 years. Carolina sucks. End of story.
Can NC State’s defense make enough plays to keep the pressure off of the offense?
For us to win their going to have to. Need some TO action and no stupid penalties on 2nd and 28 or 3rd and long. COUGH COUGH!
Will NC State be able to score 40+ pts for the 5th game in a row?
No, not in that environment. Hopefully they prove me wrong but this is our first true away game of the season. USF can’t be counted since there was 127 N.C. State fans in attendance and only 62 USF fans.
Taters win 45 -24. We will be disappointed. Hopefully I’m wrong again, but being a State fan since I popped out of moms catcher mitt has shaped my way of thinking with an Eeyore state of mind. GO F’N PACK!!
MISTA WOLFParticipantIf you go down with an injury you shouldn’t be allowed back on the field until the next series. Simple as that. And Jimbo’s comments, I’ll let him slide. At least DD is standing up for his guys unlike some of the other gutless coaches we have had in the past.
