Grey: I was at that Miami game as well. It was over before we ever really got out of the starting gate. The same happened against Ohio State as well. For all their bravado and bluster, outside of FSU and that ND Gator Bowl win, all of Amato’s teams post Rivers never really looked like they thought they could win.

Rivers was the wizard behind Oz….

The UConn game was conclusive to me that Amato was in over his head. The inability to retain staff or properly replace staff was so obvious that Stevie Wonder could see it.

The Miami game was a clear game of silly bravado by State. The Ohio State game in Raleigh was a 5 turnover game where State physically dominated the game.

    What a waste of time.

To the recruiting aspect: win and it will take care of itself

Tennessee and unc are both down. State has a chance to gain ground on two programs who sweep up significant in state talent.

Rising Penn State fortunes mean 1 or 2 per year heading up there.

Unless there is s defensive line breakdown by State on Saturday the game will hinge on turnovers.

    Same recipe as before:

    limit big plays
    limit turnovers
    win kicking game

    USC had three turnovers.

ND will be favored by 6.5

I could tell it was the “Year” part you weren’t clear on. It has nothing to do with his track record or whether or not a school took a chance on him. It has every thing do with what kind of job he is doing this year.

    Gone fishin’!

Nothing like a little passive/aggressive speculation?(emphasis on question mark akin to the one in the thread title)

I know. You aren’t saying it but others are so just in case “their” speculation is validated you de facto are validated.

I never knew COY meant coach of the year, thanks for clearing that up.

In other breaking news, water is wet.

Nobody is “spinning off the road” but a very healthy skepticism is always a good policy in most things especially issues involving State.

I haven’t read anywhere that people dislike or hate Dapper Dave. He is a coach with a short track record, State took a chance on him. He has a very nice record SO FAR THIS SEASON and you’d think from your comments that the universe has changed in some manner. I would expect most State folks are pleased but would rather sit patiently and wait for ALL THE RESULTS to come in before they start sacrificing virgins at the base of the bell tower.

I hope you are right Greywolf. I hope we beat Bama in the title game, Dapper Dave is the next caudillo, Chubb wins the Heisman and Benny Hill classsics are my birthday gift but at some point realism trumps hope. I hope all your predictions come true but I’ll stick with the old saying about broken clocks being right twice a day.

The combined record of State’s opposition up to this point is 26-20 and two of those teams were ranked at the time of State beating them. That is a .565 winning percentage.

If you remove State from the equation the combined record of those teams is 25-14. State out of the equation results in teams State has played with a .641 winning percentage vs a .692 average for the next four teams they will play.

Let’s take it easy on the Gordian knot cutting themes.

10 wins during the 2017 season and that COULD include a bowl in COUGH/SNORT 2018 to satisfy that requirement.
