McCallumParticipant
It is Presbyterian for goodness sakes.
Only positive out of this is that the coach didn’t call for the ouster of any Presbyterian fans ah la Roy Boy.

McCallumParticipantI know what I saw at BC and Pratt took a wrong angle when all he had to do was stay off a yard or so and slide using his long arms to move blockers. Good linebackers read quickly, it almost can’t be taught. Jon Abbate of wake forest was the best I’ve seen at read, reactive and attack. He was “undersized” and “slow” but in a 7 yard by 7 yard box I don’t think I’ve seen any better. Stephen Tulloch is right in there as well. He was a beast to the ball, instinct-intelligence-aggression.
I’m looking for who is responsible. Maybe this is this best it will be at State at this time. The runs at ND, the middle trap against Clempson and the run a BC were killers. With the defensive line at State the lanes should be wide open.
The defense has to have safety nets. As TCD pointed out, losing a guy or two in the secondary is showing itself and the void is still there. Chubb up on a situational blitz from the middle was a new and nice twist.

McCallumParticipantMc, you stiffed us on eating your shoes, show me the money first!
If you recall, I said if State beat Clempson in football last year I’d eat a pair of New Balance. State lost THUS I did not eat the shoes.
Nothing is more important than keeping ones word. If you stain my reputation again I’ll slash the tires on your Miata.

McCallumParticipantMcCallumParticipantRick,
It’s all in fun so let it roll.
I’m just baffled how a team consistently gets hammered on counters and traps at this level. And the cause/blame/correction phase never can settle on a point of origin of either coaches, players or both.
It doesn’t appear to have been fully corrected and I lack interest in winning a debate but would rather have a conscious discussion on what equals improvement on objective terms. Objective reasoning would reject two scores by the backup QB because 1) there was a 50-60 yard run and 2) a turnover picked up at your own 20.
Some much of this non-sense is designed to paint someone in a favorable light while in the same breath detaching that someone from objective responsibility for performance. So the kicking game is not really the fault of the coaches thus they are absolved from blame should things go south. Likewise, no responsibility is placed for losing three points because the time clock expired and the three points was wiped off.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantI’m pleased to have reached deity status on this board where an erroneous prediction is weighed against me in perpetuity.
Thank goodness that the days of Reggie Herring are back where it’s balls to the wall on every play and thinking, reading and reaction are out of the game.
All or nothing, great choices so give me about 200 yards rushing against the defense for sentimental reasons Alex.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantTHECowdog,
Pratt shot the gap but if you commit to the gap then you have to “get there”. The last several long runs the linebackers haven’t gotten there. Multiple times against ND, the classic misread at Clempson and now a repeat at BC.
Am I seeing a trend TCD? Why such aggression from the linebackers at that point of the field with down and distance as they were? Maybe it is inexperience at the linebacker position but if that is the case, especially in instances where a team is committing to the run, where is the safety help?
In reality I’m bored and I want to argue about something and the aforementioned sticks out like a Bible salesman in Carrboro.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantMcCallumParticipantAnd that ain’t “turning the corner”.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantIt never bothers me to be challenged.
The irritant is THREE WEEKS OF MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES.
Turnovers, long runs and special team errors. The linebackers have been misreading for three weeks and the safeties have been consistently out of position to support the run.
Those issues lost State the SC and Clempson games, nearly lost the game today and IT IS ON THE COACHES.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantHot to trot.
ND looks awful, State made them look all world.
As I predicted, Tennessee hasn’t won an SEC game yet.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantThe starter looked better than the backup AND the long run was a play where the linebacker read the play wrong and AGAIN there was no safety run support.
Your point Grey?
McCallum
McCallumParticipantWatching on tv is easy. I get that it is too easy for individuals watching to focus on single instances beyond a system of calls designed to expose a weakness.
At some point Dapper Dave had to realize all they had to do was load the box and stop the run. In a game of attrition you play %’s thus the trick play was damn stupid especially based on field position.
This is the same bunch with two weeks to get ready for ND and they got smashed by counters and traps.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantJust win baby applies BUT:
1) delay of game penalty costed State 3
2) losing their QB was key because after that they couldn’t move the ball effectively. Running a trick play on your end of the field resulted in a turnover and then 7 points.
That is a 10 point swing where State would have won 20-7. I expected a tough game with 1) playing up there and 2) they had an off week. Tough hill to climb to begin with but the coaching is leaving MUCH to be desired.
This is two weeks in a row of errors costing State two scores.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantNO MORE STUPID A$$ PLAY CALLS.
McCallum
McCallumParticipantVariable 2 met: turnovers
McCallum
McCallumParticipantIt is a damn TD.
When you begin to add up the non sense it is looking like a 16 swing.
