ParticipantMaybe it doesn’t matter, but Clemson played an FSU team with a backup quarterback, we took on the starting quarterback, and nearly pulled off the upset, minus the last gimme touchdown. If the defense continues to improve, as I expect, and the offense keeps up their pace, we might just pull it off. Nothing would be better than to see 80,000 plus fans, quiet. Can we? Sure! Will we? Wish I knew. Go Pack!

ParticipantWe hung with an obviously more talented FSU, and put a scare in them, and had our chances. So I ain’t throwing DD under the bus. Oddsmakers gave us no chance at all, and getting a blowout loss. Guess we proved that wrong. Offense was very good, and defense needs to improve, and leave Buckley on the bench, for defense. Winston burned him everytime he was in the game. Even he knew he was liability.

ParticipantCorrection from me. Stats don’t always win games. So if we can’t hang with FSU statically, wouldn’t matter, if we ended up scoring more points. I will take a win over the noles anyway we can get it.
mak4dpak
ParticipantFortunately stats don’t win games, so let them pad the stat sheet, as long as the final score has the Wolfpack on top.

ParticipantWell even if we miss Gameday this week, am upset may pave the way for the next game in Clemson. One can only hope. Go State! NC State of course.

ParticipantI am happy with 4-0, and as I discussed with someone at the game, getting inspired for a game against Presbyterian, can be difficult, but it will not be an issue against FSU. We certainly need to improve our out of conference competition on the schedule, but it is what it is. Go Pack!

ParticipantOne game at a time. That is how they come. FSU wins against Clemson, and coming to Raleigh on national television. So VT, who best Ohio State, loses to GT, in Blacksburg, and this is the same team, who like us struggled with Georgia Southern. So I like our chances. When we did it to them(FSU) in the past, we were also picked to lose. So I, for one, will not rule out a win. We certainly have a potent offense, and the defense has steadily improved.

ParticipantAnd here is hoping West Virginia can beat Oklahoma, while Carolina, of Greenville, wins against the smurfs. All for the benefit of NC State of course.
mak4dpak
ParticipantPerhaps that is it. Presbyterian, should give us an easy win, and plenty of rest, and hopefully no injuries. While FSU will be bruised and battered after playing Clemson. One can only hope!

ParticipantFound something interesting regarding our competition. Seems West Virginia lost by 10 to Alabama, West Virginia beat Maryland by 3, and the Terps beat USF by 4, whom we obviously destroyed. So just wanting to believe we are better than we presume we are. Take care of the Blue Hose, then we will find out with the FSU game. A win would be phenomenal.

ParticipantOut of town for the Titans/Cowboys. Late post. I followed the score of State’s game while in Tennessee. Way to go Pack, great win, and definitely show those who thought we may squeak by, that that we can be explosive, and are continuing to improve. Also saw where GS gave GT all it could handle, before losing by 4 points. So it is looking more like national television for two undefeated teams in week 5. Which State will win?
mak4dpak
ParticipantSorry, but that would be Georgia Southern at GT.
mak4dpak
ParticipantTrust the defense continues to work out their tackling woes, and pass coverage. I think we will see improvement, and on a side note I will be curious to see how GT does against GS.
mak4dpak
ParticipantA work in progress! But at least it is progress. Go Pack!
mak4dpak
ParticipantJust out of curiosity, I checked up on Georgia Southern. Even though the opponent was Savannah State, they won 83-9. That is alot of points for anyone. So a one point win over them doesn’t seem so bad.
mak4dpak
ParticipantMaybe we should cancel the first 3 quarters, and just play the forth. Seems that way the last 2 weeks. This defense scares me. Thought surely after last week, they would step it up. NOT! They basically ran 2 plays, the hand off to the RB, or the QB pass. We knew that, but continued to not stop it. We had a real chance of ending the game in the forth on the forth down and a mile, and let them off the hook. Poor tackling, and pass coverage, as well as giving the QB way too much time. But all that being said, we won. But we have got to correct these issues, or our wins are going to start turning into losses.
mak4dpak
ParticipantI, for one, think the defense will be greatly improved today. Alot of the offense last week came on big plays for GS. I am sure that was worked on this week. But we will see tonight. Go Pack!
mak4dpak
ParticipantI really don’t feel the defense is that bad. First game working out things, and certainly got better as the game went along. Guess we shall see.
mak4dpak
ParticipantFlorida didn’t do well last year, but most every game they lost, was a close loss, and winnable. Guess we will see what GS does this week and the rest of season, as well as seeing if we continue to get better. I will be the optimist. Even if it was GS, I have seen our teams get down like we did in that game, and quit. We didn’t. I give the team credit for that. We finished a game, and all the players recognized that fact. Go Pack!
mak4dpak
ParticipantI look at Brissett, much like a freshmen, since it has been 2 years since playing in a real game situation. He showed lots of promise, 2 long passes to open recievers for sure scores, just a bit too long with the passes, but still early in the game, then seemed to settle down in the second half, and led the team back from what looked to be a loss. I am sure DD will look at game film and work on our mistakes, and we will come out even better against ODU.
mak4dpak
ParticipantIf we could go back in time, I have no doubts, after Rivers first game, requiring a double OT win over Arkansas State, we probably had the same negative comments about that team, and probably some toward Rivers. But they finished 8-4. Hopefully the team doesn’t read this negativity toward them and their coach, unless of course it inspires them to prove the doubters wrong. Go Pack! Until I see otherwise I believe in them.
mak4dpak
ParticipantChecked on the record in Rivers first season, after needing the 2 OTs to beat Arkansas State in the first game, and the team was 8-4. One can only hope.
mak4dpak
Participant2 OTs would be correct, and we had a good season. Go Pack!
